"Victoria Greybank had everything a woman could ever dream of but as she stood tall in the full length mirror she pulled at her expensive clothes and hated her life." Trapped in a loveless marriage Victoria soon discovers her husband's late nights at the office are excuses to engage in sado-masochistic sex. Bewildered, she falls in love with a lesbian overseas property developer who comes up with a big plan to make them both very rich...Karen Woods' third novel deals is 50 shades of grey but with a northern twist.
This book's title is cute and it piqued my interest. When I began to read the story, it began immediately with a very sexually frustrated, wealthy by marriage, lacking attention Victoria. As she is searching through her husband's pockets and briefcase looking for something, she discovers something that, she thinks, reassures her that he does love her and that there's no way on earth that HER husband would be having an affair. What she finds confirms that for her, or so she thinks.
She plans out a really nice, romantic dinner, a fun evening in bed, and makes his favorite foods and dessert and goes all out; however, her darling husband has no interest because he is "tired." When he doesn't give her what she thought he'd give her that night (what she'd found on accident), she decides to go to their jewelry store the next day and when she does, she sees Katie with the gift that she had been so sure was for her.
Thus begins her mission in life: First, find evidence of his infidelity. Next, make him and his lover feel ever so sorry for what they've done. Last, ruin him financially. So she hires a detective and as it so happens, her Oscar is "working late" again that night and that gives the detective and her partner the chance to begin their investigation. Thus begins a journey that Victoria never expected to take.
Recommendation: I must say that the book does need editing, and it is rather predictable throughout. I thought it was okay but nothing more. I did see some people have given it higher ratings though, so maybe you'll like it. I haven't seen any other reviews on it though so maybe the ratings were higher than people really thought of it. Give it a try and judge for yourself.
