Dr Sohère Roked (pronounced Sa-hair Row-ked) is a General Practitioner with a specialist interest in Integrative medicine. Her passion is to help empower patients to take control of their healthcare, using a range of tools to achieve this. Born in England and brought up in Wales, she studied medicine at Southampton University and graduated in 2003. She has worked across hospitals in England and Wales, in the specialities of A&E, general medicine and surgery, women’s health, otolaryngology, and spent 3 years working as a psychiatrist before becoming a GP. It was this broad knowledge of medicine that made her realise that the current conventional medical practise is far from complete. It did not provide her with the tools to understand and address the emotional, spiritual, environmental, social, nutritional, lifestyle and psychological issues that influence the health and wellbeing of so many patients.

Увы, под обложкой обнаружился дурацкий нонфикшн про рецепты из киноа и семян чиа, да прочий эзотерический буллщит. Ну там, делайте аффирмации, говорите спасибо трем рандомным штукам в день, все эти вещи. Когда же авторка стала на полном серьезе топить за поливитамины, я совсем закончился. Справделивости ради, попытки в рацио тоже были, но после пассажей в духе “иногда я ощущаю лёгкую депрессию” воспринимать их всерьез очень непросто.
Дочитал по инерции, остальным рекомендую избегать. Не тратьте время на эту книгу, лучше запишитесь на чекап к терапевту. Полезнее будет.

she writes in a simple way that is enjoyable to read and comprehend. this advice goes beyond what is possible to be provided by your Gp, mainly due to amount of time you have with your doctor.
There is one section, leaky gut syndrome that is not recognised by the traditional medical profession. although not fully proven, Dr Roked provides a good case as to why it exists and why our bodies cannot use their defences to eliminate all our environmental toxins.
one thing she stresses is that we as individuals are responsible for our health. live well, live healthily long. :-)

La naiba, de ce eram atât de epuizată, încât contramandam întâlnirile de vineri seara pentru a sta întinsă pe canapea și a adormi înainte de ora 23? Țin minte că am avut o conversație cu o doctoriță cu care am lucrat în 2008 despre cât de obosite eram, în timp ce amândouă dădeam pe gât căni de cafea care să ne țină treze pentru restul turei. I-am spus destul de nonșalantă că acceptasem faptul că voi fi obosită zilnic pentru tot restul vieții și împăcarea cu acest lucru era tot ce puteam face. Ea s-a uitat la mine cu mirare și a zis că era extraordinar că aveam o atitudine atât de zen. Am dat din cap cu stoicism, ca o femeie condamnată la execuție, acceptându-mi soarta .
