Bad Blood/The Notorious Wolfes #2

El peso de las apariencias

Rate this book

Caitlin Crews

Caitlin Crews discovered her first romance novel at the age of twelve, in a bargain bin at the local five and dime. It involved swashbuckling pirates, grand adventures, a heroine with rustling skirts and a mind of her own, and a seriously mouthwatering and masterful hero. The book (the title of which remains lost in the mists of time) made a serious impression. Caitlin was immediately smitten with romances and romance heroes, to the detriment of her middle school social life. And so began her life-long love affair with romance novels, many of which she insists on keeping near her at all times, thus creating a fire hazard of love wherever she lives.

Caitlin has made her home in places as far-flung as York, England and Atlanta, Georgia. She was raised near New York City, and fell in love with London on her first visit when she was a teenager. She has backpacked in Zimbabwe, been on safari in Botswana, and visited tiny villages in Namibia. She has, while visiting the place in question, declared her intention to live in Prague, Dublin, Paris, Athens, Nice, the Greek Islands, Rome, Venice, and/or any of the Hawaiian islands. Writing about exotic places seems like the next best thing to actually moving there.

She currently lives in Oregon with her animator/comic book artist husband and their menagerie of ridiculous animals.

With two under my belt in the Notorious Wolfes series, I can tell this is going to be a favorite. I love the family dynamics in this series, even though you don't even see most of the family members in all the books. That tells a lot right there. This family unit has critical fractures. The Wolfes are walking wounded. Every one of them. The good news is that they are on the path to healing.

In The Disgraced Playboy, Caitlin Crews gives us Lucas' story. She takes what appears to be a shallow womanizer and shows his scarred heart. He truly believes himself incapable of being loved, the only thing he has to offer is his good looks, his charm, and his prowess in bed. Initially, seducing Grace is about the chase, about the conquest, about having her sexy body in his bed. However, Grace touches something deep inside him with each encounter. The way she hides so much behind a proper facade. He can't imagine how such a gorgeous woman can be happy so buttoned up. He doesn't know why Grace chooses this life. He's so intrigued he can't walk away for an easier conquest, and most of them are ridiculously easy. I liked that he took the time to find out.

Lucas had a different feel from the average Harlequin Presents hero. One that took me by surprised and charmed me. He reminded me more of an Anne Stuart historical hero. Beautifully male, but not at all macho. Debonair, suave, languidly elegant, all hiding a sharp, keen mind to match his sharp wit. If I'm going to read about a rake, I'd prefer he be like Lucas. Not just some walking fount of testosterone. But a real life man, completely fascinating, irresistible, and deep as the Mariana Trench.

I enjoyed the play of wits between Grace and Lucas. I never like to see the heroine give in too soon or the hero conquer the heroine before it's time. I liked that Grace was the one who took the initiative when the magic hour finally happened. It was completely her decision, not just a moment in which her hormones got the better of her. If there's anything that annoys me in these books, it's the heroine who turns into a hormonal puddle of goo over an unworthy (or at least unproven to be worthy) hero.

Caitlin Crews' writing is dense with character reflection, and it worked for this book. Those moments of inner monologue gave Lucas a depth that he needed to show, a depth that illuminated the tortured, damaged man behind the carefree, ladies' man facade.

As different as night to day from Sarah Morgan's A Night of Scandal, but I appreciated how both books showcase their authors' different writing styles and give me two love stories that have distinctive flavor, but together add a rich texture to this series. Looking forward to reading The Stolen Bride by Abby Green, another favorite Harlequin Presents author.

Liked it better than the first book.

Lucas is a great hero, who hides everything beneath a well developed mask of a shameless playboy. Like all the Wolfe children he has some serious scars from his childhood. After an argument with his brother Jacob, he decides to do something with his life, or try to anyway, so he finds a job with the company that used to be his fathers. There he meets Grace.

After some unfortunate experience when she was in high school, she decided not to let emotions overwhelm her ever again. Until the moment Lucas sauntered in her life she was doing okay. She tries really hard to resist him , but she was mostly fighting herself along the way, not him.

I loved them as a couple, loved the way that Grace managed to see beneath his facade, and the way she accepted him, scars and all. Loved their banter as well.

Lucas Wolfe is a shameless playboy. He is a man the British tabloid love, his exploits are legendary and the entire world thinks that he lives off the patronage of older married lovers but in reality he is a master of disguise. He wields his own PR.
Ever since he was abandoned on his father's door as an infant, he was made to feel unworthy by his psychotic father, he started acting as a care-free charmer in front of his siblings and a devil to his father, inciting him to take out his temper on him rather than his younger siblings. The only person he was really close to was Jacob who left, so Lucas further spiraled out of control.
Grace our heroine comes from nothing and cultivates an uptight image. She is afraid of turning out to be like her mother, so she down-plays her beauty and acts as the ice-queen. When Lucas to piss-off Jacob, joins Grace's workplace, sparks fly.
Lucas wants her but Grace, well she gives as good as it gets. The banter between them is good and as the book progresses the layers of Lucas are revealed to us and Grace and it is Grace who seduces Lucas and not him.
The best declaration of love I've ever heard when Lucas shouts:

. “I cannot live without you, you idiotic woman! How could anything ever be all right again?”
Hilarious! The last chapter both of them shout at each other when confessing their feelings. Nice book.

I decided to knock another book out from The Notorious Wolfes series and decided to tackle the story of Lucas Wolfe, the tortured, bad boy playboy with a seemingly charming, carefree lifestyle. Now I have to say that I am about 50-50 about this book with some parts I liked and some parts I just didn't like or get into. And I was a bit disappointed with this story to be honest. Was expecting a lot more.

First all, I felt that book kind of started off really slow and was honestly boring me a bit that I had to begin skimming over the words just so I could make it through and get to the good part. The first half was really all set up of the story and the characters and their issues, but it seemed forever to get through, which wasn't a good thing. There was just so much focus on Lucas being this playboy that could charm off the panties of anyway with his killer looks and smile and could really charm any one. While Grace was this prim and proper woman who was really good at her job and vowed to keep control at all times in her life and be seen in the eyes of the world as a hard working, respectable woman. Plus even though she was attracted to Lucas, she wanted to avoid him at all cost and resist his charms despite the fact that he was heavily flirting with her and trying actively to get her in his bed with smoldering looks and very suggestive innuendos. She didn't want to be another notch on Lucas's bedpost, so she denied the attraction she had towards him. Of coarse it made it impossible to ignore when they were working so closely together on this gala.

And even though there was this sexy banter and back and forth in the beginning to create the lovely sexual tension, I just wasn't wowed or overly thrilled by it. There was just no excitement behind it or I didn't feel like there was. I just wanted to feel a bit more of that in my bones and just feel like I was reading words on a page of this constant back and forth that lasted again forever and it was the same thing over and over again with Lucas wanting her and Grace constantly pushing him away by using her icy persona that the world knew. It was just flat for me.

I will say that I enjoyed the character of Lucas. He was very charming and sexy. Just his little suggestive comments were outrageous and he had a lot a gall putting it out there like that, but that was what I liked about him and one of the things I liked about the book was him. He charmed me, and I thought it was humorous to see him try to win over the prim and proper Grace. I thought he was very funny, but at the same time like Grace spotted early on was his playboy persona was much of mask and hiding the pain of what he dealt with in his difficult childhood. And I could tell that he hurt deeply and was dealing pain and the only way he could survive day to day was by living by the persona that he set up as a worthless playboy. So I enjoyed seeing his character being portrayed.

The book picked up around the time of the party where they had their first makeout session and sparks flew for both of them after not have given into this attraction for most of the book. It was explosive and definitely held my interest with that hot little kiss, and I think I was glad that the whole dragging out of will they won't they was finally over. It just seemed forever to get to this point. It was almost too long. But that's where I was more focused on the book and enraptured by it.

The chemistry between them during both the makeout session and the love scene were hot as passions were finally released. I loved the scene between the two of them when they finally decide to do the deed with Grace being sure that the only way she could handle that type of relationship between them was if she took control of the situation. Of coarse Lucas was the one in control and only allowed her to have the control later on after he was satisfied with making her loose control. It was nice to see her let down her hair and literally loose control. I could sense that she was finally free and didn't have to live in the constrains of what her past mistakes were. She could enjoy just being a woman and being in the arms of a desirable man that she wanted since the moment she met him. And that just made the scene hotter.

I will say I was kind of disappointed there was only one big love scene after there build up for pages after pages about this attraction between them and how both wanted each other but wouldn't given in (more on her side than his side), and just this build up of tension all the way through until they had the explosive love scene together, but I was expecting maybe at least one more. One that more focused on the emotional aspect of their relationship than just the lust side and the want they had for each other physically. I mean there was emotion in the first scene but it was clouded by the passion that needed to be released. So I thought there might have been a scene were the passion was there but there were more emotional ties to it and more intimacy and closeness. Not that they didn't have closeness and sharing and stuff, but that was more in the aftermath of a love scene that wasn't shown than anything else.

And even though they did help each other and help other heal and grow as people, I wasn't totally sold on their romance. I felt that there was just so much focus on them wanting each other and dealing with their past hurts that there were really no time for romance. I wasn't rooting for them as a couple even though I did want them to have happiness in their life. I just felt they didn't fit as a couple for whatever reason. Now them having a little fling, sure, but a great romance not so much. There was just something missing for me in the love story aspect. Maybe because there was tension but no real angst or something to effect. I just didn't feel that rawness that I expect when reading a romance novel. I just wasn't thrilled with them as a couple.

The ending was a little bit unsatisfying for me as well. Yes, they healed some past hurts but their relationship was definitely an unknown quality of whether they got their happy ending or not since conditions were placed on it, and it just didn't feel right. Though I will say that it made for a bit more realism that they wanted to see where everything went before committing anything (at least on his end) and not spouting about of lies of feelings that he had for her, but letting her know that he wanted to try with her and usually I am all of believability and not rushing into anything and believing the hero truly loves the hero or not because sometimes just feel forced and that's unsatisfying. But this also was unsatisfying with the realism. I guess it was just the way Lucas did or approach it that I didn't like or maybe it was the fact that I needed to see Lucas come around a little more emotionally to the softer side of his feelings for her, maybe not love but caring of some sort. I just felt he was more analytical and practical about the whole thing when his character was anything but. Maybe that's what it was it was out character for him of how he acted in the end, and I just didn't get it. Just the ending didn't go well for me and left me very disappointed. Expected a lot more from these two especially all the stuff that they went through in the book and how they were honest with one another and only with one another.

Overall, this book was just okay for me. I thought the beginning was way too drawn out with lots of repeating going on with them not giving into their attraction for one another. It would have been okay if something more interesting happened or they appeared to get closer and closer emotional than I think it would have been fine, but the way it happened just the same thing seemed to happen over and over again just on different days. The sexual tension was definitely there, but I wasn't feeling it or the rawness that would be accompanied with the tension and also would have added a bit of angst to the story. Lucas was the highlight for me and I enjoyed him very much as a character. I wish he was stretched a bit further emotional, but other than that I enjoyed his humor and his charm. The love story aspect I wasn't complete sold on or found myself rooting for them as a couple. I just wasn't feeling them as a couple. I just didn't think they worked. There was barely even any romance to this story. It just kind of felt blah. Wasn't sold on her either. She just rubbed me the wrong way for whatever reason. I just felt there needed to be a bit more excitement and thrills to the book than actual was. It needed to be more interesting to make it an enjoyable read. This one was just blah.

Hopefully the other three books remain in the series will be better than this one was. It's a shame because this one had potential just I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling when reading it. And I couldn't root for the couple so that is never a good sign.

I’d have preferred to not rate it but have to leverage for all the (bad) time I wasted on it. I’ve honestly been in a limbo just because of this book. I couldn’t progress no matter how neutrally I tried to read it since CC is a popular one around here.

Well. I’ve no clue what this book was about. I still wasn’t convinced if the H had to work with the h. So the h is an event manager/ HR person at a firm. This firm, once upon a lifetime, was run by the H’s family. But not anymore. (How did it help having to put this extra windy loophole and connection of the firm with the H?????? It could’ve just been his firm or his family’s firm. RMFE 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄)

The h and H meet with some really bad and weighty verbal exchange. Every fn word out of their mouth is a fn innuendo. (Pardon). Like you write a dialogue in your head and say it out loud. Really bad vibe and boring a$$ intended overkill puns.

The romance was MIA as expected. Mouthy and tiresomely try-hard banter. Nothing spontaneous or sparky in their non-chemistry. Ima outta here.

This book had some really great banter between the hero and heroine, but absolutely nothing else going for it. It was not a very well written book. It lacked character development, scenery description, and substance. I could not get into the story or take an interest in the romance because those vital things were missing from the book.

Absolutely enjoyed the Lucas-Grace story, starts with Jacob meeting Lucas and tries to make him understand by all the things he does "you are turning into him" the way Lucas hides behind the facade of mackery and careless attitude but he was most affected by past demons,he never knew who his mother was but when he came to know he was so shocked and the things William Wolfe said made such a great impact on him which has made him belief he is the most ugly person and the guilt of not being there for his brothers-sister but then he meets Grace who also has suffered her mother's rejection which changes her her so much completely understands what Lucas feels and she makes him belief that he is not ugly,it was the circumstances he is not a bad person

Then when Grace confesses she loves him he panics and runs away but then he meet Jacob who finally makes him understand that says "You deserve more from life than to make
yourself over into his ghost."which makes him realise Jacob is right, they make amends and then the gala night starts and Lucas comes to know Grace is sacked he is so furious and then he realises his love for Grace,Grace on the other hand is so hurt she lost everything she worked hard for her job, respect from the peers(respect was most important to her)and Lucas who just left her there standing on the staircase

Lucas goes to Grace and dear god what a way to confess feelings for the woman you love "All Right- “I
cannot live without you, you idiotic woman! How could anything
ever be all right again?” and Grace's reply"That's Lovely-Poetic, really. Thank you.”i laughed so hard, they fight then
their love wins through the past baggage and they get their HEA

Both Lucas-Grace have been rejected by the parents and have their heart breaks which changed them greatly but then these two meet and both heal each other and help each other to face their past demons and accept it and live in the present the the ending was so sweet

I really liked that Lucas did'nt proposed marriage cause they both had yet to learn to trust each other, till now they knew that cannot live without each other and Grace even loved him but as Lucas himself said he does'nt knows what is love cause he never got one,so they were together that was more then enough

Overall a very enjoyable read,i really disliked Lucas in the start but as we get to know him and the depth of his character i adored him so much, enjoyed every second of their bickering and fights, going onto next sibling Alex Wolfe,so far i loved the series let's see what's in store with Alex's story

Good Read

The hero of this book is Lucas, the 2nd eldest of the Wolfe siblings, he has lived the majority of his adult life as a playboy 'it' guy and all round darling of the tabloids. After a run in with his eldest brother Jacob, Lucas decides to accept a job as a figurehead for a world famous department store that has past connections with his family, where he meets Grace, the heroine. Grace is busy planning the store's upcoming centenary and relaunch celebrations and doesn't have the time or desire to babysit Lucas, whom she has nothing but contempt for. Grace has worked hard to get where she is after her childhood growing up in a trailer park, and due to a disturbing incident when she was a teenager she has learnt to only rely on herself and cultivated an 'ice queen' image. It doesn't take long for Lucas to realise he wants Grace, but gets only frustrated by her constant rebuffs and his increasing need for her.

This book had me at hello! I literally read it in one sitting. One of the first things that struck me in this book is the fantastic dialogue between the characters, it was full of wit and sass, especially from Grace, this was very enjoyable to read. The characters are well crafted and beautifully written. At first I couldn't warm to Lucas, he seemed lazy and unnecessarily antagonistic, I was agreeing with every one of Grace's negative opinions! As the story progressed I found myself liking him more and more, just as Grace fell more and more in love with him, to me this shows how strong and emotive the writing is. Grace was a great heroine, she was strong and ambitious, yes she was a little uptight and cold but that suited her with her determination to become a success despite her origins.
My favourite element to this book is the development of the relationship, it was very honest. The HEA is immensely satisfying in that there are no sappy overblown declarations of love followed by a proposal, instead it was two people, who didn't have the greatest starts in life, agreeing they love one another and saying 'hey, let's give it a go'! (apologies if that's spoilerish!)

A great book, and I can't wait to read more of this series.

Decent but I thought it lacked a bit of tension/conflict between the hero and the heroine. The heroine also seemed to have a massive over reaction to something that happened when she was a teenager. Although I suppose that having received no counselling it could have lingered on for years and she just got stuck in a rut. I also felt like I would have liked to know more about the hero's history. He was pretty melodramatic. Still he was an interesting, different sort of hero. I did like the way they were together and how they helped each other.

Great dialogue, but not much in terms of substance for this to be a satisfying read. Worth a read for the repartee between the hero and heroine but don't expect great romance or to be given enough substance to really care about either of the characters. I ramble about this book a great deal more in the discussion thread here.

This was something of an experiment for me, to see if I liked it.
I really, really didn't.
I found there was far too much time spent describing a characters inner thoughts and detailing every tiny change of expression on their face and far too little time spent on developing the plot and dialogue. Not for me.

This had a great premise and great sounding characters but for some reason I couldn't connect with the characters. I didn't care about what happened to them, so it made it a real struggle to finish the story. Still haven't finished it, not sure if I'll bother.

I read this in the middle of the night--which doesn't always make for a memorable experience, but the dialogue in this was unforgettable even in a sleep-deprived haze--plus, I swear, I marked half the book.

Grace is so cocky and self-assured and even when she gives in--she does it on her terms and with such strength of will that it doesn't appear that she's giving in so much as deigning to surrender.

Then there is Lucas--who would be played by James Franco if this were ever made into a movie and I don't even like James Franco. He's so beautifully conceited that you firmly believe gold runs through his veins. And yet... he's so haunted and broken inside. He's a modern-day Dorian Gray. Charismatic. Brilliant. Jaded. When you're in his head, it's like eating a decadent dessert picking through his thoughts. You know you should stay away from that devil's food cake, and does it need so many layers? Yummy.

The dialogue back and forth between them reminded me of that in an old movie. It was so quick and intense...and heated.

For example:

"I am sought after because I am rick, sickeningly handsome and rumored to be excellent in bed." He raised his brows at her, challenging her.

"And here I thought it was for your remarkable modesty," she replied, as quickly and as sharply as he'd known she would. As he realized he'd hoped she would.

***

It's freaking brilliant. The growth in both their characters was realistic but significant. Geez, I'm just blown away by the characters in this book. It's part of a greater series of books and I've read Sarah Morgan's A Night of Scandal--which was also good, and I'm in the middle of The Man with the Money--good so far, but this book--THIS book--amazing.

Do you want another example? I know you do...because you like that three-layered chocolate cake with its gooey frosting that you just need to put down and eat in small doses, but that's sooooo not going to happen....

Example:

"You are a liar," he continued, letting his voice drop into an insinuating growl that he knew would get to her. "Lucky for you, so am I."
Their eyes met. Held. Seared.
"We should get along famously," he said with a deep satisfaction, and then he let loose his smile, like the holstered weapon it was, and let it do its work.

***

Their first kiss is likewise brilliant but you'll need to buy the book to read that scene. Dooooo eeeet. Buy the book. Eat the cake.

So far my experience with Presents titles is not living up to my preconceived notions! Which is humbling to admit since I am forever railing against people who judge romance novels based on little more then hearsay and covers. Presents novels definitely have/had a certain...reputation, even amongst romance lovers! Granted I've only read three, but those three have managed to completely twist everything I thought I knew about the line.

This is the second title in the Notorious Wolfes series and I'm still hooked. I can't wait to see what happens next! What I loved about this title is that Lucas and Grace are on basically equal footing. They don't NEED each other for anything so when they come together it feels genuine and legitimate. They are both able to make the choice to be together and love each other...to move on from their pasts.

I loved that Lucas never lost his sense of humor. He didn't suddenly become something he wasn't just because he fell in love. This book probably has the most real ending of any romance novel I can think of. I sincerely hope all the rest of the titles in this series are as good as the first two.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Grace is definitely one of my favorite HP heroines at the moment, with her backbone, sass, confidence, and vulnerability, and Lucas was delightful as well. The dynamics of their relationship were what really kept me invested, and the crackling chemistry between them was just the icing on the cake.

Recommended for fans of conceited playboy heroes, of stuffy but not innocent heroines, and of choosing to fight past long-standing obstacles that may come between you and happiness.

A wonderful 5/5 Stars.

Caitlin Crews seems to be a highly recommended Harlequin Presents writer so I was probably too optimistic when I read this one and was therefore somewhat disappointed.

It was just okay. Lots of angst which I normally enjoy but there was too much repetition with the heroine Grace's internal dialogue. It felt like page-filler rather than a way to increase the conflict/tension. Lucas was a little less repetitive and had a more interesting backstory than Grace but he had the misfortune to be an ass throughout most of the book. When Grace finally gives into Lucas, I wasn't sure it was such a good idea. And maybe the author didn't either because this book has a more of a "happy for now" ending rather than a "happily ever after."

Second book of the Bad Blood series. This is my first book of Crews and boy, she did not disappoint at all. I loved her prose and her writing style. The dialogues between Grace (h) and Lucas (H) were really good. The put-downs Grace gave for Lucas were entertaining and so were the parts where they slowly reveal the masks and the past is put to rest. I liked Grace, especially how she reacted positively to the situation at the end. The character arc for the leads were good and believable. An entertaining addition to the series.

All in all, I'd say, the series is progress well at this point - and best of all, there is no sheikh in this series. I'm happy for that alone.

I was very disappointed with this book. I hated all the internal dialogue going on with characters. It felt like for every sentence of dialogue written, there was a page of narrative. I loved the way the author portrayed Lucas, unfortunately she missed an opportunity to show how his relationship with Grace developed. The way they got together at the end of the book seemed forced, or an afterthought. Then miraculously they fell in love. I gave it 2.5 stars because there was a good basis to the story but I have to admit I skimmed over most of what I felt were more fillers than anything else.

THE DISGRACED PLAYBOY is the name of this book in the U.S. it's the 2nd in the "notirious wolfes" series, and it's a pretty good entry. it shows the masks people hide behind, and the length they will go to, to protect themselves. another 6 in this series--hope they are as good

The number 2 of The Notorious Wolfes.

Well, I enjoyed the story. I like the FL-Grace. I love the way how she surviving in the cruel world. My Favorite part it's when she confrontation her ex boss.

I need more the describing about the ML's job. Cause I don't get it what makes him so rich. I think the heritage not enough to make he seen too rich. In the story, before the ML back to London, he work as bartender.

I have a confession: in all my years of being a fan of romance, I have never before read a category romance. (Nora Roberts' didn't really count because I read anything that had her name on it and she's sort of a queen in her own right, so I did read a few MacGregor books that were printed by Silhouette back in the day.) But I feel like Harlequin has endured for so long and has been such a Titan in the romance world that I needed to read a few of them, just to get a quick taste. Since I was also a little short on time, I thought that fitting in a quick 50k+ book might just be my speed.

Enter: Caitlin Crews. Back when I'd been a little skeptical of chick lit, Caitlin's alter ego Megan Crane totally changed my mind about it and I thought she could do it again. I knew I could trust her to give me a solid story, and she did not disappoint.

I know this is part of a series of books, and I did not read the first one (written by Sarah Morgan), but after reading this one, I'd be curious about the rest of the Wolfe family...

The Disgraced Playboy features two damaged hearts at its core from two totally different walks of life. In one corner, we have Lucas who's been born into a very rich family, though his upbringing is anything but the charmed existence typically associated with silver spooners. He struggles immensely with feelings of self-worth but cleverly hides this with a blase attitude and a wild reputation he willingly perpetuates. In the other corner, we have Grace, a girl who grew up with nothing and came from a small, insular, entirely close-minded town in Texas. Neither of them had a particularly happy childhood or great relationships with their parents. Neither of them dare to be who they really are when in public.

But with each other? They identify themselves, they see through each other's masks and basically, call b.s. until they can find it within themselves to face the very things they've been tucking away and hiding and deal with them. For each of them, it means having to accept parts of who they are and reject the definitions other people have given them or made them feel, which is a powerful triumphant lesson for anyone.

So, character-wise, I felt Caitlin did a great job playing Lucas and Grace off each other. It's hard not to like a story about a broken bachelor playboy who becomes obsessed with loosening up the buttoned-up, played-down beauty who's just focused on keeping it all together, everything in it's neat box. I felt their dialogue was good, honest, strong. And I felt like, for whatever reason, the last half of the book was easier to read than the first half.

For some reason, it did take me a little adjusting to get into the writing style of this book. It just felt like there was a lot of emotion and attraction needing to be packed in and early, so it was kind of heavy with the flirtatious innuendo, suggestive subtext in Lucas' over-certain charm at the start--but at the same time, in a short category, there isn't a lot of time to build that heat so it's going to have to come quick and early. I get that.

Pacing was on point, characters were fun, setting was great. Heat? Nice and steamy, just like I like 'em. Overall, a fun read and I'd totally pick up another Caitlin Crews book (and other category romances as well).

Bisakah Grace memupus trauma tentang arti sebuah hubungan akibat cemooh sang ibu?

Well, buatku, seri pertama jauh lebih menarik daripada seri ini..
tapi yah karena ini sebuah seri dengan bermacam-macam pengarang, so, dinikmati saja...

not too bad ^.*

This is the second book the Bad Blood series and again it completely drew me in. I couldn't click the pages on my kindle fast enough. So much emotion conveyed in one book! Lucas Wolfe is another tortured hero, hiding behind the image of a shameless playboy as the title suggests. He finds the perfect match in Grace, when they are thrown together on a work project. I started off not liking Lucas that much, he seemed far too arrogant and sure of himself, but as the book progresses you can't help falling in love with him in much the same way as Grace does :-)

Grace is a strong heroine, forging her own path, out of poor beginnings and her drive and determination shone off the page. Of course she never stood a chance in resisting Lucas for too long, but boy does she try and her internal struggle is portrayed beautifully, making their HEA so much sweeter.

And Lucas, well you'll have to read the book, but I absolutely adored the way the author managed to convey his confusion and agony of his feelings at the end and how they end up healing each other.

Well worth a read, this one!

Lucas Wolfe is a well known play boy who regularly features in the tabloids. He agrees to act as the figurehead of an advertising campaign by a well known conservative department store. Grace is the head of PR there and can't stand Lucas' recklessness. However there is instantaneous attraction between the couple and he pursues this although she is reluctant. He discovers pictures of her advertising sexy underwear when she was 17 and points out that she was always so uptight. Grace is embarrassed by the photos as her mother and home town generally all thought she was a big ho as a consequence. Anyway, one thing leads to another and they get together. The pictures come out, as does one of G and L in a compromising position and grace is fired. Lucas goes after her and they all live hea

Just ok.
