The Life and Doctrines of Jacob Boehme by Jacob Boehme, edited by Franz Hartmann [1891] An anthology of the German Christian mystic's thought.
THE LIFE AND DOCTRINES OF JACOB BOEHME THE GOD-TAUGHT PHILOSOPHER AN INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF HIS WORKS BY FRANZ HARTMANN, M.D., AUTHOR OF "MAGIC: WHITE AND BLACK," "PARACELSUS," ETC. "That which is (now ignorantly) rejected by my fatherland will (in future days) joyfully be taken up by foreign nations."—Jacob Boehme, Letters, l. 10, March 15, 1624.
It's a good and precious collection of sentences from all works of Bohme. However I must stress the errors of the comments of Hartmann, it's best to stay away from the doctrines of the teosophical school. I personally avoid the commentary and only focus on the actual quotes from Bohme.
I read the kindle version of this book some time ago and have reviewed it several times. This is clearly the best spiritual book that I have read. The book discusses the trinity, creation, man and other areas in very clear terms. I found this book very inspirational and the desire and need to re-read this book due to the difficult subject matter. In closing, although Jacob Boehme was a Christian Mystic, this is a book for people of all religions.
