A brand-new biography series featuring some of the most important people from history and today.
I am one of the most gifted minds that ever lived. I am a Nobel Prize-winning physicist. I was expelled from school as a young child. I am Albert Einstein.
Learn all about this brilliant man, whose accomplishments are truly remarkable in the debut of Scholastic's new biography series: I Am. The series will feature full-color illustrated covers, one-color illustrations throughout, a timeline, an introduction to the people you'll meet in the book, maps, sidebars, and a top ten list of important things to know at the end of every book.
Grace Norwich has written many books for young readers on a variety of topics, including health, fashion, animals, and more. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
This book is a short little biography of Albert Einstein for the kids . The author's style of writing is amazing. I loved how a simple and an average boy could crack the code of science. The book is an amazing inspiration for the kids who want to contribute to the world and be successful in their lives !
I just finished reading "I Am Albert Einstein". This book is a biography about Albert Einstein. This book is about his life and many discoveries like E=mc2 and many more. I would recommend this book to elementary schoolers because it was very short and easy to read. I enjoyed reading "I Am Albert Einstein".
While the book was well written and did give factual information about Albert Einstein, my students found that the format was distracting. There were several spots within the book that the sentence should have continued on the next page but extras graphics (definitions of science types, lists of his papers, etc) were put next and then original sentence picked back up 2-3 pages later. While the extra information was beneficial, it should have come after the end of the chapter or at least after the preceding paragraph was completed.
Biography 3rd-6th grade reading level I thought this book was very informational not only about Einstein but all the events that happened during his life. I like that the book started with an introduction to all the people who had an impact in his life along with a timeline of his life. There were also side notes throughout that helped explain some concepts better which I thought was cool. I was shocked to learn that Einstein wasn’t a very good or well-behaved student.

This book is about a man named Albert Einstein the worlds smartest genius. I really like this book because I really got to learn about someone who had such an impact in the world and technology. I recommend this book to anybody who wants to learn or learn more about Albert Einstein. Some things that made me think that this book was good was when it told all the facts about Albert Einstein and they backed that up with evidence. Some weaknesses of this book is that there are too many pictures. If this book had a series I would read the whole series. All together I think that this is a great book.
1)The Shocking Truth About Energy by Loreen Leedy. Copyright July 2011.
2)I chose to use the book “The Shocking Truth About Energy” along with a biographical book Albert Einstein because I wanted to connect the concepts of energy we will be learning about with Einstein in a manageable way for my 3rd graders. After reading about Einstein, I know my students will have a lot of information floating around in their heads about his life and his contributions to science. By transition into reading about energy, it will help my students to have a background on an important scientist and his work with energy, but it will also help them focus on a specific piece of Einstein’s works and his contributions. I specifically chose this book about energy because it presents energy in a fun and engaging way that will help my students to really focus in on energy and understand the concepts that exist around energy. I also liked the book about Einstein because it carries a message that things are possible with hard work and confidence and I think that is an important lesson for kids to learn.
3)I Am Einstein is presented through a description structure. It gives students many facts about Einstein and his work throughout the story and engages readers through the accompanying pictures. Both the words and the pictures had great details.
4)For these books I would use the DL-TA strategy. The book is heavy with terms and scientific concepts that students will need to be able to understand but it also intrigues students because Einstein is an interesting character that seems to defy the odds frequently. The book I Am Einstein is full of opportunities for students to answer questions and make predictions about the book and what will happen. Then, we can take the knowledge we gain from I Am Einstein and the knowledge we already have and use it to make predictions while reading The Shocking Truth About Energy. There are multiple points throughout this book that also allow us to stop, discuss what happened, answer questions, and make further predictions before resuming reading.
"I am Albert Einstein" is an informative book all about Albert Einstein. This book provides lots of information about Albert Einstein such as when he was a child up until the day he passed away, it especially talks about what he is best known for, E=mc^2. On one of the first pages of the book there is a timeline, this time starts in 1879 when he was born and ends in 1955 when he passed away. There are several illustrations in this book that can help students better understand what the book is talking about, there are also a few pages that have fun facts about Albert Einstein to keep the students engaged in the story. There are multiple chapters to this book, each chapter covers a different milestone or time in Albert Einstein's life. I would say that the genre of this would be would have to be a biography because Albert Einstein did not write this himself, someone else wrote this about him. I would say that the best group of students to read this book would be in their middle elementary years, probably third or fourth grade, because they are starting to become very interested in science and trying new experiments.
While I was reading this book, a book came to my head that I read a while back called "The Speed of Light". This book is about a young boy trying to get by when his family is too busy being focused on other things, so he goes to math for an escape from his family. This goes with my nonfiction book because Albert Einstein came up with the equation E=mc^2, this equation shows the relationship between speed and light, and the "c" in the equation represents speed of light, and my fiction book is about a young boy who loves math and who has to move at the speed of light.
This book was cute and educational. It is a little long and has multiple chapters so I would say it is more suited for 7 years and up. The book starts as in autobiography style, then gives a short description of the characters that will be introduced as well as a timeline of Albert Einstein's life. I think this will be helpful for those who need to write a report on Einstein. There are few illustrations throughout the book. The ones they have look to be hand sketched and are all a copper/brownish color. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about the life of Albert Einstein and all that he accomplished throughout his life. Though the words being used are simple, the story being told is still informative and interesting. This would be a great book for teachers to assign to students as well.
If how you spend New Years’ Day is predictive of your coming year, my 2015 will be spent vacillating between the desperate lows of hungover insomnia and glorious moments of divine illumination. Before dawn on the 1st I’d finished the only book I could find in the dark: “I Am Einstein”, shoved deep in my son’s Christmas stocking.
What I Learned: Never underestimate the power of a Level 5 reader! (Plus, the illustrations are awesome.)
I finally get it! Einstein’s theories of relativity make sense! Space bends measurably! If you are traveling at the speed of light, times stands still!
Scholastic's I Am Albert Einstein far surpasses anything I learned about the space time continuum from Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Five stars.
In my opinion I think that this book was an amazing book.I like this book because Albert Einstein is one of role modles and it is facinating learning about him.My favorite part of his life was is childhood becuase he started of as a very shy boy to a kid that every teacher hated.I think the person that helped him the most during the World War 2 was his cousin/wife Elsa.I don't like that U.S had to use the atomic bomd beacuase after Albert Einstein felt gulityand regreted ever making the formula.Myfavorite thing about Albert Einstein is his crazy hair. This book explained most of the questions that I had about Albert Einstein.
This book was really cool! It had a lot of cool information about Albert Einstein and science. The coolest thing I learned about Albert Einstein was when he was a kid he hated school but grew up to love learning especially science. It was also cool that when he was younger he was hated by lots of people but when he discovered the general theory of relativity, which was about earth and gravity, he became famous almost instantly. It was really interesting that he didn't talk until he was 2 and when he talked it was full sentences not little baby noises. It proved how smart and unique he was. I usually don't like nonfiction but this book was really interesting and I learned a lot.
The book that I read is titled I Am Albert Einstein. The author is Grace Norwich. This book genre is a nonfiction book, because it was about a real famous scientist. The setting of this book is in Albert's hometown. The main characters are Albert and his family and wives and children. This book describes Albert's life down to the tiniest detail. It tells about where he traveled where he went to school and much more. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it is so detailed with a lot of description and it is just a great book that I recommend to everyone.
This book was okay. It was kind of boring though. I am surprised that someone that ended up as smart as Albert Einstein didn't actually like school. I am also surprised that it was hard for him to find a job. I was surprised that Einsteins first wife didn't die since she got sick so often in the time period that it was. This so far was my favorite who was book but I don't usually like nonfiction. I would only recommend this book if someone needed a nonfiction short book, but not something to get into.
I learned a lot from this book. It was very informative. Did u know that Albert Einstein never said a word till he was two years old. Or that he never liked school. He was always encouraged to ask questions at home but was never allowed to ask questions at school. He also didn't get along with the other kids and teachers. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Albert Einstein.
I think Albert Einstein was crazy, however his name has become synonymous with genius. He discovered some of the most astounding works this world has seen. I really enjoyed reading about how as a child they didn't believe he would amount to anything and looking at all of the things he has accomplished and achieved from Nobel Prizes to professorship, he changed the way the world viewed the physics of light.
This book was pretty good. It was really short and I leaned a lot about Albert Einstein. I thought it was really weird how he never really liked school but turned out to be a great inventor. I always see the saying "Even Einstein Asked Questions" and it's one hundred percent true. Even the greatest of scientists asked questions. This book had a lot of information on Albert Einstein. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about one of our worlds greatest scientists.
I read this book in Spanish and was blown away by how much information was packed into such a short book. To be fair, I use it as part of my class library for low level high school Spanish classes.
It is definitely interesting but not readily understandable to learners in levels 1 and 2. It is not a reader but rather a regular Spanish adaptation of the English book by Scholastic.
Surprised at how much I learned reading this elementary school title.
Before reading this book I knew Albert Einstein was a genius but I didn't know a lot about him. This book was a really easy read but a very interesting one. I am glad I read it and learned more about one of the most important scientists to ever live. I don't think I would actually suggest this book just because of the reading level.
This was a good introduction of Einstein. Easy to read and understand for children. Nice timeline to follow and a few drawings of family members. I wish there were a few more personal facts about him. Overall I liked it.
I didn't like this book. It was super boring and I couldn't get into it. I don't like nonfiction which is why I didn't like this. It is super weird that Albert married his cousin.
