The Hesitant Mistress

Rate this book
The submissive man in a vanilla relationship faces a daunting challenge. How can he convince his demure girlfriend to take charge without turning her off? How can he show her that female domination is not a sick stereotype, but a healthy and romantic way to enhance her life? This book is the answer to his prayers.

His girlfriend's hesitation is perfectly understandable. Since female dominants are so often depicted as arrogant sadists intent on hurting and humiliating men, it's not surprising that any woman would feel reluctant to adopt this role in her relationship. After all, who would treat her beloved partner as if she hated him?

But she has no need to worry. The real female dominant is not a cruel psychopath. Her relationship involves mutual trust, cooperation, and communication. She can be nurturing and reasonable. She can share her feelings and needs. She can be herself, more bravely than ever - and her partner will love her for it.

In "The Hesitant Mistress," author and dominant Dvanna Hightower gently introduces the novice mistress to a new world of life-enhancing possibilities. The male submissive will try to give his lady everything she desires; all she needs to do is recognize the confidence she already has inside her.

Part self-help book, part kinky instruction manual, "The Hesitant Mistress" is an indispensable introduction to female-led relationships. Any woman who reads it will never be the same.

If women were to read this and ignore all of the Dominance and submission elements, they would still learn a huge amount about their own power and potential. As a self-help book this helps clear away the doubts and insecurities we are trained to establish to keep us in our place: they don't serve us and they don't help anyone else so let them go and let your confidence grow.

Do you let "the man" make all the decisions about where to eat and what film to watch? Do you fit in with "whatever makes him happy"? Who chooses where to sit when you go to a cafe or a bar? Do you lead or let yourself be led? How deeply is this affecting your self-image and how others see you?
This book will dispel your fears about having to look, act or speak in a certain way to express dominance. Let Dvanna guide you in how to find your own style by deciding what you want and losing your fear of asserting your preferences and desires.

Great Confidence Builder

While I have some previous experience with dominance and submission, it is mostly as the submissive. This book was very helpful in reassuring my thoughts on male submission, their desires, and what drives them. That is helpful in building my confidence as a female dominant. It has helped take away some doubts and fears and I feel more assured that my submissive men really do love every bit of my newly found dominance.

As someone with extremely low confidence, this was insightful. She gives solid advice, even if it's just for a woman living in a mans world. But also as someone who never asks anything of anyone and will just do what I have to do, it may be hard to rewire my brain into thinking this is ok. Gotta love trauma!

Anyways, if your man (or SO) gets you this book, give it a read and have a solid conversation afterwards. Communication is key!

No high literature, and quite tacky self-help at points, it nonetheless encompasses a healthy and lucid dispute of the cultural expectations on women.

read the section on confidence and it actually had some useful tips despite the nature of the book!
