Can an ad agency creative superstar thwart a communist plot to take over the U.S. Government following the 1992 presidential election?
Ben Coleman, a successful forty-five-year-old New York City “Ad Man” and Vietnam War era Navy fighter pilot, is lured from his comfortable but predictable existence to Washington, D.C. to create the popular President Roger’s re-election campaign. Everyone wants to achieve a “landslide victory” in November, even the bad guys in high government positions. Ben reunites with Chet Greenwood—his jet squadron wingman who heads the White House Secret Service detail, meets the gorgeous and brilliant Laura Simpson—the President’s research aide, and gets up close and personal with the excitement and sudden dangers of the Washington, D.C. political circus.
This first novel from talented "ad man" and Navy jet pilot, Peter Engler, is a real page-turner that will keep the reader up at night. It certainly kept me up! If you like political thrillers, this one has some unique twists and turns that you will not see coming.
I had the privelege of working on this book, as the book "midwife." Consequently, I had the opportunity to read it in advance of publication. I think Peter has told a compelling story that holds the reader's attention and makes them want more!
If you like Stuart Woods' books, you will LOVE New & Improved!
It is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle.
Perhaps because I spent my entire life in advertising...and because I am a fan of old-school thrillers (e.g. James Bond, Matt Helm) I enjoyed this book a lot. You'll find plenty of action and intrigue throughout the story...as the intrepid adman saves the world.
