Get to know the south of France!

The best part of this trilogy is the sights, colors, light and foods of this area of France. By the time you have read the third story, you have to love Laurent, get a little mad at Maggie' s feistiness, wish the books weren't so chatty and the plots incidental. It's about friendship, France and village life. With each book, I seemed to like it more and may continue to join more fun with Maggie!

This is book 3 only

Book 1 & 2 of this trio were reviewed separately. I found book 3 to be frustrating. Maggie comes across as a selfish spoiled brat who gets upset when she doesn't get her way. Her whole attitude toward her husband and supposedly best friend were horrible. The book was more about her than trying to solve the murder.

Not WWll

When I read the blurb about these books I thought they were going tovhistoical. But not with cell phones. But otherwise the series was pleasant a nd remarkably I was able to translate most of the french. I didn't realize there were so many titles. I think I will wait a while to continue.

Three very unusual stories set in France. Also written in style I have read before.

Each of these books is centred around a most unusual detective. She is single at the beginning but married her French fiance who is an I usual man. You really have to concentrate as you read but it is well worth the effort.

Maggie Newberry 3-book series

Each and every book in the series was a page-turner. Each had twists, intrigue, mystery, romance, and thrills. Kiernan- Lewis is a wonderful story teller.

Spoiled immature female lead became tiresome and too obvious by the 3rd book. I read them all but not inspired to continue the series. The relationship feels shallow.

Terrific trilogy

These three books had me guessing at who done it throughout all the stories. They were well written and engaging.

As a whole the series so far doesn’t grab me. The plots are interesting but not so the characters.

good characters

I enjoyed the first of three books. The characters of Maggie, Grace,Laurent and Bédard are written with good detail. Much self identification of characteristics.

Bad

I made myself keep reading to be fair but finally reached my limit 20% into book one. What kind of intelligent woman sleeps with a guy in France, doesn't hear from him for six months and then lets him move in with her - all without getting any answers about who and what he is? The man refuses to answer a direct question and she blithely ignores all the red flags.

I hate books with heroines especially who are TSTL (too stupid to live) and when I start hoping someone puts her out of her misery, it's time to quit. Don't bother with these books - even if they're free!

I should have read more reviews before purchasing. Got 60 pgs thru the first book. This is, in short, the movie "Taken," with the main character and her family 80 times more stupid than Liam Neisen. There were so many unnessary details that dragged what whould be a suspensful mystery/adventure on and on and the things these characters do without even questioning motives makes the book feel incredibly unbelieveable and hard to hang on.

It's rare that i quit a book or give such a poor review, but not worth the time or money for the books.

Very interesting three books

These books were very good CLEAN reading. It was refreshing not to have all the bad language. The storylines were captivating and had me guessing until the end and I was always surprised. I loved this series and will read more from this author. Great books.
