While this book will live with me for a long time, I DID NOT like it. It is a hideous subject and had an awful ending.

This was a very good book. Made me think. Complex story. Now that I am done, I can clean the house.

I can be pretty sure it’s like nothing else you’ve ever read. What does a parent do when their child’s in trouble?

I can’t figure out how I feel about this book. There was a lot of nonsense that annoys me - the murder gene thing coming up as an actual legal theory was stupid. It would have been better to have the family grapple with it. I guess I thought the ending was okay - unique - but I just feel like we didn’t get to know the mom or Jacob well enough for it to make total sense. I hope the tv series is better.

Not really the crime thriller I expected. Plot average enough and ending was fairly abrupt and ill-logical.

I DID NOT read the study guide; I read the novel. Maybe I should have rated it 5. I gave it a 4 because in places the story seems to move too slowly. It is the story of an assistant district attorney whose teen-aged son is accused of the murder of a classmate. Of course, the father does not handle the case. The end has a twist. It is not a happy story, but it is a good, well-written one.

The characters were normal people; relatable. I love the surprises in the book. Not too predictable.

Fine bovel - somewhat unpredictable but a little slow to get into with a decent finale finish.

This is a page turner! From the first page, it grabbed me. Lots of twists and turns. If you love a suspenseful courtroom drama, you won't be disappointed by this book.
