The book wasn’t really enemies to lovers when her panties was getting soaked during their first interaction. I really thought I was diving into a book where they TRULY hated each other but that, disappointingly, wasn’t the case.

THE WRITING??! oh my god, it was bad but in the authors defence, I think it’s their first published book. It kept going in and out of present and past tense, the descriptions & spelling — and some of the lines didn’t make sense, for example, “His eyes examining.” his eyes examining WHAT? that isn’t even a full sentence!!! And the dialogue was just..: something else. WHERE WAS THE EDITOR???!

i think this would do better on wattpad than anything else.

i saw so much promo on my fyp and thought it was from different accounts — when i went back, i saw that it was all from the same author. there’s nothing wrong with that, but when authors keep promoting their books with these repetitive tropes instead of prompting their plot line, it starts to tell.

[edit] 19/08/23

umm so i saw a comment in one of her promo posts and they were talking about it being unedited and she responded that she needed this book released to help her with college.

so, basically, this book is simply a cash grab.

like what the hell. i don’t know why that’s written as an excuse like she’s not purposely making readers buy her book which is poorly written because she needs THEIR money?!!??!! 😭 i was planning to get the book once it undergoes editing but i won’t be touching it now, and i really don’t think you guys should waste your money either.

No but wtf did I just read. The plot was really confusing and frustrating. So much potential to be decent but it's like the author spun a wheel and wrote whatever it landed on. If you want to waste your time this is the book.

did i pick up this book bc i watched a tiktok of it?? yes

where to start with this one.... i normally don't mind reading trashy novels but this one felt like i was reading a wattpad original. the misspellings and grammar error are insane and i'm not even anal abt it. every single character in this book has mental illness... it's like free for all! you get a one and you get one! lots of things were just glossed over and the plot twists came from nowhere. ending was rushed.

the writing felt like how my dreams look like... disconnected with no transition. one minute the characters were outside and the next they were somehow in the kitchen. i waited for the characters to have their own voice but the voices in their heads prevailed instead!

Genuinely speaking, this book was so good, they were actually enemies which I never see in enemies to lovers so I loved that, there was heartbreak, tension, passion and so much more. This is an incredible debut book for this author! Grayson and Adrianna are part of rival families and one thing leads to another they end up in a fake relationship. The question is wheather the relationship should stay fake or not. I am so obsessed with the grumpiness of both characters and let me tell you, the nickname Dove is everything especially with the meaning of it! The side characters were all amazing and makes you totally want to read the other books. The twists were totally not predictable and came out of nowhere which I loved. The little things this book had was amazing and the love between the charters was chefs kiss. I read this book in one sitting it was that good! I loved how the side characters didn’t irate me because there are so many books where they do. If you love steamy dark hockey romances, this book is for you, read it right now!! Please do check your trigger warnings before hand!

Favorite Quote:
"I hope you don’t expect anyone else to give you CPR other than me.”

Special thanks to the author (my friend) for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was an absolute mess.

The first half was good, your usual enemies to lovers fake dating with good banter and some weird things but nothing too bad. The second half is when shit got strange. So much random things went down that it was hard to keep track off. The guy also broke a guys legs in a hockey game and everyone acted like it was just a casual angry moment. Like what he did wasn’t assault. The rivalry between the families was never really explained. The addict mom just showed up randomly and wanted him to break up with his girl for no good reason. There was a secret sibling thing by the end that did absolutely nothing. So many plot lines were left unanswered. The dad who got his ex pregnant by his other son to get him to dump adrianna was somehow forgiven for his actions. Actually neither dad really answers for their shitty parenting. And don’t even get me started on the weird writing and the multiple spelling mistakes. The only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because I enjoyed the plot as messy and confusing as it got. So maybe read it if you want something that’s entertaining but deeply confusing.

This story had so much potential but the dialogue was atrocious it was so confusing lol I never knew who was talking!

The story was honestly all over the place and the only thing that saves this book is the 🌶️🌶️ rating it a 2/5 because I was still drawn to the story and there were times I couldn’t put the book down

This would do a lot better on wattpad rather than being independently published. Definitely had some nostalgia like I was back in high school reading fan fiction 😂😂 ifykyk

Guys. This book made my heart stop, fall into my chest and had me shaking. like no fr. it was so good. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5 is I found many errors within the story and spelling of the book which ticked me off. This love story was phenomenal, I didn’t expect this at all. okay.

°˖➴ this is the type of book where you absolutely hate the writing but u can’t seem to stop reading. 24 hours i won’t get back, i hated these characters, i hated the writing, and i was left so confused in the end because im not sure if i had the worst time reading this or i actually enjoyed it despite how mediocre it was. this was so messy and it was so underdeveloped, the writing cringed me out so bad and i think the author quoting tiktok audios was my last final straw… the tropes in this book would have the booktok girlies spiraling (like me) but id honestly would not pick it up, save yourself..

°˖➴ tropes:

ᰋ rivals to lovers
ᰋ fake dating
ᰋ forbidden romance
ᰋ “touch her or u die” (no like literally i think he paralyzed someone 🧍‍♀️)

I definitely wanted this book to be better than it was for me. I saw this on tt months ago and waited for the release. It looked so good.

Some tropes in the book are fake dating, enemies to lovers, found family, and the virgin trope. I think that the plot and execution of fake dating was great. I also think the enemies to lovers was pretty good. As they still didn’t love being around each other even in the fake dating. However there was a lot of built up tension from being enemies for so long.

I think the book had a lot of unexpected heavy topics like drug addiction, body image issues, eating disorders, depression, and suicidal ideation.

With that, I think some of the plot was just so far out there for me. Like august and who got her pregnant, his mom, some of the stuff with her parents. I think I didn’t like SO many plots and big plot pieces incorporated. Like yes, everyone has things but damn, this book seemed to have everything.

This book was a true enemies to lovers and the character development is just *chefs kiss* beautiful! the intertwined stories and friendships are so thought out and it is truely a pleasure to read if your looking for an easy read and are looking to start a new series. I cannot wait for the other books to come out l!

A big congratulations to Liana for this being her first ever published book and cannot wait to see where her career as an author takes her!

this was one of my most excited reads for this year. As I found your tiktok page, & I favorited the video, so I can buy it when it was released. I absolutely loved it, I enjoyed the characters so much & was not expecting that plot twist toward the end. :0 My favorite tropes enemies to lovers, academic rivals :) I very much related to Anna with her anxiety & how hard it is & how sometimes it is lonely to deal with that.

I cannot wait until the next release with Margo and Liam. <3

Decent book, would rate it higher but there are a ton of grammatical errors as well as punctuation errors which made it hard for me to even want to continue reading. At one point it’s like the author completely copied and pasted one section of a previous chapter and pasted it into a new chapter. Author should definitely take the time to get the book edited.

Heart of Desire

ARC Reviews

I enjoyed Heart of Desire! The concept is nice, and I think it was executed well. Adrianna and Grayson’s relationship felt real, with all the messy emotions, external pressures, and personal struggles that come with figuring out what (and who) you truly want. Adrianna’s journey of breaking away from her boyfriend and her family’s expectations, combined with Grayson’s struggle to balance his feelings for her and his family’s reputation, made for an engaging read. The push-and-pull between them kept me hooked, and I appreciated the moments of vulnerability that made their story feel even more authentic.

Being on the ARC team and the last editor before publication, I had the chance to see this book evolve, and I think it does a great job of exploring love, desire, and personal growth. That said, I’m excited to see where this writing journey goes next. There’s a lot of potential here, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

this has to be my all time fave, enemies to lovers hockey romance books. I don’t really read a lot of enemies to lovers books anymore but i will tell you, this book will have you hooked — especially with the amount of angst, tension, heartbreak and happy moments between both characters. I love how the book is not only told from one pov but a dual so you get to see both sides of what the characters think and feel. liana did an amazing job with not pulling away from the fact that the characters adrianna and grayson are enemies and rivals. i will say, when i was reading this book i was very curious if the fake dating between the two would work in all honesty because liana did an outstanding job with showing you the hate between both characters with there arguments and little schemes against each other. the side characters in this book are incredible amazing as well and liana does not disappoint with them. they aren’t just the happy joyful ones with no plot to them and they are definitely not annoying, like how other authors make their own side characters but with everyone of them I most definitely felt like I was able to relate to them with different aspects of my life and I loved that truly. I don’t wanna spoil but definitely be ready for all the twist and turns this book has cause it definitely had me on an emotional rollercoaster. I suggest if you want something steamy, spicy, draw dropping heart aching or even anything proteins funny with a mixture of happy i strongly suggest this book because it gives you all of that! i’m so proud of liana and i can’t wait to buy my own copy of this book and annotate it 🩶

also this book deserves more than five stars but ten! please be sure to check this book out because you won’t regret it at all.

the plot twist that should have happened is multiple death scenes.

I have so much to say. I read this in one day, but that is beside the point.

- I was thinking about Grayson Hawthorne from the Inheritance games the whole time. The MMC is named Grayson and he attends Hawthorne University.

let’s talk about all the wrong things

1. these kids attend an IVY LEAGUE University but tell me why there are lockers, uniforms, and school bells to let students know to go to the next class.
— clearly, this author has never been to a university, and it shows throughout the whole book.
2. The FMC is such a spoiled b*tch. Hated her. My favorite quote comes from the MMC ex "Adrianna is a high-class b*tch," she was so REAL for that. She also basically bullied someone who attended the university on a scholarship. But at least she acknowledges that she is a snobby rich kid.
3. the MMC god, I want him to die.
4. There were so many "!" and for what?
5. Heavy miscommunication (I LOVE NORMAL PEOPLE BY SALLY ROONEY) but this is a whole other level of hell.

Now the potential is there, somewhere, but the writing was no bueno. I could have written this better (and that says a lot). The plot lines ended abruptly.

okay, the good things,
THE COVER OML SO PRETTY 🤩
some of the side characters were tolerable, Chris & the j girl [which idk how she is friends with that Adrianna (FMC, Spoiled snobby rich kid)]

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

As I told my friends, this feels like I am reading an unedited version of the finally draft. The book does not flow as it should; it is entirely tooooo stiff. So when it tries to move from character to character or scene to scene, it does not make any sense or even feel right.

I don’t mind when people self publish because everyone has to start somewhere but my issue lies when they SELF-EDIT. Omg! you cannot see everything wrong with the book when it is only you looking at it.
The dialogue is interesting(?)- in a bad way!!

The characters themselves suck. She tried to make them complex and deep character but by doing so, she over-complicated them to the point that they’re no longer real (I know these people can exist in the world but when you make them rich bratty kids, their ‘real’ problems seem so fake)

I don’t know much about Ivy legues and I think the author is on the same boat as me… I don’t know if she is in college or whatever but the way she set up the college in this book is more like an elite private school (think gossip girl: the reboot - when monet overtook the school)

Also, the author put emphasis on things we’ve already been informed of multiple times! It was really annoying and didn’t make sense to the story…

I saw someone say this would be better as a wattpad story and that is SO TRUE! this is like an very under-edited wattpad story I read in 2014.

Did I finish it? No, but i got more than half way through it before I deleted it.

I’m a fast reader but I’m going to be honest, I struggled with this book, which made me feel like it took me forever to read. I kept going back re-reading some stuff to make it make sense to me. The author has major potential but this book fell a bit flat for me. There is quite a few holes in the story, a lot of stuff said and then forgotten. My major issue was that the FMC struggles with mental health issues but it’s not properly addressed. I don’t know, maybe the author didn’t wanna dive deep into that and just pushed it off that she sees a therapist, gets prescription and then that’s about it. When her self harming herself was brought to light it was just brief and then no one ever discussed it with her again, not even Grayson. Like what? That’s a big fucking deal and we’re just gonna forget about it? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. The fake dating trope is one of my favorites but it was ridiculous in this book and they did it for stupid reasons.

Maybe in the future I’ll read another book of hers but until then best of luck to this author.
