Legend of the Ir'Indicti #5

Destroyer: Legend of the Ir'Indicti, Book 5

Rate this book
"Those who currently call themselves King and Queen of the Elemaiya can't read those medallions and never knew how to use them properly. I should go." Griffin unfolded his tall frame from the deck chair and stretched. "Be careful." Griffin disappeared. "Yeah. Sure. Easy for you to say." Ashe lifted the sleeve covering his left arm and gingerly touched the eight gold medallions circling his biceps. At least they weren't as tender against his skin as they'd first been. When they'd first appeared, he could barely stand to touch them, and it was worse if someone else tried. "Am I supposed to read these things, now, to get back what I lost?" Ashe shook his head in bewilderment. "This just gets worse as it goes along." Ashe is faced with a weakness in his genetic makeup as he learns of a greater force that is determined to eliminate him or turn him away from his chosen path. Will those around him fall while he makes a dangerous choice?

Ashe doesn't have a nice quite life. He is a teenager who has a power like no other and who is being hunted because of it. Everyone want a piece of him: the government, vampires, werewolves and those are "the good guys" as well as Dark and Bright Elemaiya who just simply want to kill him.

Abandoned by his parents and loosing his best friend because of unfounded prejudice Ashe tries to find himself and understand what he is and what that means to him, his friends and family and what does it mean for Earth itself and the Universe.

Tough decisions has to be made, goodbyes said.

The 5th book of Ashe's story didn't disappointed me at all. I loved the story and the ending. Everything is were it's supposed to be. Really great read. Once again Connie Suttle showed why I love her books. :)

Another great story! A lot of things happen that give you more insight into the other series by the author. It's nice to see what happens with a couple of characters and that a couple of others are re-introduced.

That. Was. Wonderful

Well. The end made me cry. I'm not sure if I'm crying because it was a great ending, or because it ended and I didn't want it to. I could live in this series ... FOREVER. Top three. This author just hit high on my list. Very high.

Whew that was a ride! One very seriously intense situation played mad havoc with my nerves an I about lost my cool....so freakin good! Had my heart racing. This also has nothing to do with any part of the ending just so you know. Can't wait to jump into the next series!

Another excellent Connie Suttle series. I was wery, wery impatient to start reading God Wars after I finished Blood Destiny, but I menaged to control myself, and wait for High Demon, and Ir'indicti. I have to admit that I almost skipped Ir'indicti after I read High Demon, I thougth- what else is there to be read on this series, but now I'm glad I didn't skip Ir'indicti 'cause it is an excellent series, and it explains so much that is left unexplained in Blood Destiny. Blood Destiny, Ir'indicti and High Demon give three sides of the same story, and I hope that God Wars will round up the story, and tie up all the loose ends, and that we'll finally see how the story ends... I can't wait to read God Wars...
Ashe is an outstanding character, and I'm glad that his story isn't as terrible as Lissa's and Reah's. I mean Lisa and Rea had terrible childhood's and were repeatedly used and abused through the series, even by those who were supposed to love them and take care of them... Ashe had some difficulties, and some trauma, but nothing on the scale of the other two main characters... I think I see the pattern, females are tortured, used an abused, while male gets only some difficulties and heartbreaks... I still have to read God Wars, but I read reviews, and from what I understood from them- being used and abused is exactly what is in the waiting for the next main female character of this series.
But even with that aspect these books are still outstanding reading.
I understand that some people complain that there is no s*x scenes in the books, but I'm glad there isn't. Usually when there is s*x in the books, then the plotline suffers, an usually get supplanted by s*x, and everything else that the book can offer is lost.
There are some parts of these books, not just Ir'indicti, but the other two series as well, that are immature, oversimplified, as if they are written for the wery young children, and also there is no building of love connections, it's just- one moment not in love, next moment maddly in love with nothing in between, or the reverse, one moment love each other, and next moment no love whatsoever, again with nothing in between... That's the biggest weakness of Connie Suttle books...
Other than that, it really is an outstanding reading, because she builds her universe, and plots, and characters excellently, you can almost imagine that you are the character you are reading about, that's how good she builds her characters. She simply sucks you in her books, you can't put them down, can't stop reading...

Shit when Sali died i choked on my eggs and wept on the rest of them (still ate them tho)

I liked Lissa a lot, and her series is quite eventful and i love the characters alot so everytime one pops up in this series it was like being reunited with an old friend. I did have a violent urge to smack Wlodek around quite a lot. Sadly they repeated all their past mistakes.

I wasnt sold on the first book, cos i wasnt really sure what was going on and i only decided to read it to feed my Lissa & Co addiction. But you cant help Falling in love with Ashe, and as you follow him on his journey and Watch him grow its really hard not to weep like a bitch everytime something horrible happens to him. The thing with his parents broke my Heart, it was so horrible and there are so many times where you think "omfg theyre gonna die!!!!" and being a Little girl i instantly started crying my eyes out, running off for an emotional smoke break. Ofc most of the time i found that my tears were wasted. When i realized he was the guy with the dollar at the soda machine i squealed and clapped like an idiot.

I was with him every step of the way, too emotionally involved and currently out of kleenex, and freaking tired cos ive stayed up most nights to finish the series.

I often felt that the blood series was a bit odd and i can see how some people might find it hard to get into, but i was sold right away and ate it all up. This ones a Little easier to swallow, but i would recommend reading the blood series first to really appreciate this one.

I enjoyed the story of the Might Hand.

This showed how Ashe went through hoop after hoop and yet he did not give up and accept defeat. He made as many things as he could right, even in books it depicted that humans destroy what they don't understand or cannot control.

The Vampire Council recalling his father and not renewing the marriage of his parent made things even worst for Ashe. Ashe's father Aedan altered his mother mind to forget him so that the council would give up on trying to get his son but that also cause problems as she forgot she had a son as well and started dating someone else. In the end his father was so sad that he was again an enforcer and that he lost his family that he decided to greet the sun. For a vampire that's suicide.

So many shifter's and wolves died and Ashe was nowhere to be found and when he did show up he was so distraught he almost turned rogue. However, he who was able to change WHAT WAS did so and many lives that were lost was no longer in the land of the dead.

I am curious though if Marcus and his wife made it to the promise world with the others since they were banish from Star Cove.

What a wonderful end to a brilliant end to a lovely series.
Over the last five books we've seen Ashe grow to become the man we come to love in different Connie Suttle series.
How wonderful that this series brings us the background to so many story lines in the other books.
A lovely series in its own right and as with all this author's series, make sure you read them in order.

Well from what I have read in the comments this is the final Ashe story. Sorry to hear that but was a great series. I also hope as others do that Ashe will grace the other series by Connie as they all tie together.

I was disappointed as I felt the story was brief, short and it felt very rushed.
Its great Ashe found happiness sort of but it could have been more I feel. The book needed filling.

I've loved this series and the way that all Connie's books link characters together. Ashe is a fantastic character one of my faves. I did get a little lost with the number and names of characters during the first half of the book but certainly loved the ending which had a few moments that I just had to stop reading for a mo and digest what was happening.

I was glad things have somewhat work out for Ashe. Some of the secrets reveled was jaw dropping.
Even though this was the last book in this series I hope other series from Connie will uncover more of Ashe's secrets.
Great book from start to finish.
