Twelve Step Sponsorship is the first truly comprehensive look at sponsorship, a role recovering people benefit from both as sponsees and ultimately as sponsors.
Sponsorship is a rich and enduring part of tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous. Twelve Step Sponsorship delivers both the theory and practice--how to do it and why--in a clear, step-by-step presentation. Written by the author of Getting Started in AA , a widely acclaimed guide for the newcomer to the program of AA, Twelve Step Sponsorship is the first truly comprehensive look at sponsorship, a role recovering people benefit from both as sponsees and ultimately as sponsors. Twelve Step Sponsorship includes informative sections that deal finding a sponsor and being a sponsor.
Twelve Step Sponsorship offers a welcome reinforcement to the tradition of "passing it on" from one generation of sponsors to the next.
Twelve Step Sponsorship: How It Works by Hamilton B. is a wonderful text for those who help people work any twelve step program. As the title implies, the book offers a very good description of how sponsorship works in the context of nearly all twelve step groups. Its not the only text, nor is it the only way to understand 'how it works,' but it is a way that I've found very helpful, mostly for its Socratic style in teaching how to lead another through all twelve steps. It also could help sponsees determine if they are getting what they need from their own sponsors. I highly recommend it to both 'sponsors', 'sponsees', and those who are considering either becoming sponsors or sponsees.
