Mentally and physically exhausted from his Russian adventure, once again all Scott Maclaren longed for was peace and quiet. However, a frightening health issue and a devastating personal loss soon put paid to that. It's not long before his Special Forces skills are put to the test again, as he battles new and familiar foes. Conflict, suspense and sizzling action in the bedroom are abundant as the rugged Scot does his best to keep his lady safe and satisfied.
For a first novel, the book was good. I found the hero, Scot McLaren believable. MALE Scotsman romance author A.B. McKinley 'writes' his dialogue with a Scottish brogue. I found it gave the character much credibility.
This ex-Special Ops man finds himself living in Ohio after going through some very tough situations, and not just those from being in the Special Ops. After surviving a serious injury, Scot is 'dumped' by his then fiancé just three days into his hospitalization. He overcomes tremendous odds, leaves Scotland and finds himself in Ohio. All this is told succinctly in the first chapter and we are drawn into where will this take Scott from here.
The reason why I gave the book 4 stars and not 5 was due to the lack of secondary character development. But I would recommend this book to others to read. Especially, if you like sexy Scotsmen!
Scott Maclaren is drained, both physically and mentally after his trip to Russia. Isn’t it time the Scot deserves a break. He moves, gets a new job, and is happy in his relationship. Just when he thinks things may settle down, tragedy strikes again. He gets some very disturbing news from his doctor and has to start aggressive treatment ASAP. Then he loses a very close friend of his. Once again Scott’s skills are put to the test as he tries to protect the one he loves. Will our Scot ever get a break and a happy ever after?
This was my favorite out of all the books. I had no clue what to expect with this book and A.B. McKinley did not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. And the romance is sizzling. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes some Scots, suspense, and romance!!! Thank you for another GREAT read!
This is the third book in the Kilted Desire series and unfortunately, not even close to being up to par with either KD1: Sands of Betrayal or KD2: Russian Roulette. It seems to me as if A.B. McKinley was in a big hurry to get this book out to his fans. The writing was not up to what I've come to expect from him. I had to force myself to read the book; it seemed to drag in a lot of places. The editing was not that good. I can only hope that if there should be a Kilted Desire 4, he takes his time and has better help with the editing.
