Mime Very Own Book

Rate this book
A hilarious visual smorgasbord, this vibrant photo narrative offers a quiet, introspective look into life as a silent emoter. Replete with images of actor and mime artist Doug Jones shot against an array of artistic and real-world backdrops, this social commentary spoofs pop culture and fairy tale favorites. Witty photo parodies include Frank ‘n mime, Marilyn Mime-roe, Mime-hammad Ali, Mime a Llama ding-dong, and Mimeageddon, as well as the “Once Upon a Mime” tales in which the big bad wolf gets bested in a series of mime encounters based on Little Red Miming Hood and the Three Little Pigs-poking fun at legendary personalities, characters, and moments while showcasing photographer Eric Curtis's trademark vision.

unlike a mime, I laughed out loud again and again

I received my copy of Mime Very Own Book yesterday and I am blown away by the quality, detail, and creativity stealthily displayed within each and every one of the 240+ pages -- not that I'd expect anything less from Scott Allen Perry and Medallion Press. Add in the talented miming of Doug Jones, the keen eye of photographer Eric Curtis, the overall vision of Adam Mock, and a few humorous appearances by Scott's brother, Ponce, and the end result is the Mime book to end all Mime books. No joke. The book is aptly described as "a hilarious visual smorgasbord" and it exceeds the hype. Even the cover elicits a smile with it's proclamation of "more than 5 in print. more than 2 sold." Once inside, you meet the players and then the fun begins...and once it begins, it never relents. The pop culture spoofs are all A+ in concept and execution. My favorite is the parody of "Say Anything" entitled "Say Nothing" (of course). I'm not going to attempt to describe it, because you have to see it to appreciate the joke and the attention to detail of this movie poster parody. That page made me laugh out loud (I could never be a mime) about three times. That alone was worth the price of admission. So, what are you waiting for? BUY THIS BOOK.

Once upon a mime...yes, that is how this book starts its visual adventure in Mime Very Own Book by Doug Jones. This book...oh my goodness...I laughed and I laughed. Doug Jones hardly holds back in the most unexpected ways.

Don't eat or drink while looking at this book, you are bound to spit it out when you least expect it and ruin this mime-diculous book. Then there will be moments you wish you had brain bleach. Sort of. That will be about the same time you'll be splitting your sides with laughter.

Eric Curtis did a damn awesome job with the photography. He made it so believable to have so many Doug Joneses on one page.

Mime Very Own Book is not long, but it is jam packed with ridiculously funny stuff. Doug Jones is one very wickedly funny guy who pokes fun of himself while also making us laugh out loud with nary a word said.

This was really interesting. I have been challenging myself to read things that I normally wouldn't. This picture book was hilarious. I found the mime pictures to be creative and entertaining. It was something very unique. I am glad that this was a book I picked up and flow through. I do wish that the pictures were larger. They were a little hard to read/see/enjoy on my Nook.

A simple, whimsical book that's fun to indulge in! I absolutely adore Doug Jones and when I learned he was a mime as well, I just got so giddy! I like to open this one now and then when I'm feeling down, it's a guaranteed pick me up.
