You know, I read this book a couple times when I was a teen. Reading it again, I saw how terribly it was written. I mean, for a plot that is incredibly dull, at least give me some good kissing scenes! But no, instead we have small pecks and reminders about celestial dating laws. Trevor is shallow and needs instant gratification. Megan is trying so hard to move on from her past that she’s stuck there. Just trash.

Yes another Shannon Guymon book. This is the 5th book of hers I have read in the last two month. This one is defiantly LDS fiction. There are quite a few reference to LDS culture and the characters are LDS.

All of Shannon's books that I have read have had very similar story lines. Crazy parents, some sort of betrayal and finally starting over with a new life and love. They are light, cute, clean, fun reads which is exactly what I'm looking for when I need a break.

This one was originally written in 2002 so some of the content is dated. I think even back in 2002 some of what is portrayed would be inaccurate as far as how things work in the real estate world but those who aren't married to a Realtor would likely not notice.

This is another book that lovers of LDS Romantic Comedies will enjoy. Those who roll their eyes at LDS fiction should skip this one as it is a little preachy and the everything wraps up a little too easily and nicely. As for me I personally I enjoy the big old happy bow tying up the end of the book.

The premise of the story was cute, but Trevor was definitely a strange character. If he were a real person, I would think he was too much of a creeper to actually date him, to be honest. He just went about things really strangely and was almost manipulative, yet he's supposed to be the good guy. I think he had good intentions, but he just did everything in such a weird way. I loved Cora's personality, although she ended up having her strange moments, too. Maybe that's where Trevor got it from. The situation with Megan's and Linette's parents was super sad, and I kind of wish that the epilogue told more about what ended up happening with their father's business dealings, as well as Linette's and Blaine's relationship. It was a short book, so I felt like more could have been told. I did notice that this was only the author's second novel, so I think her writing got better as she wrote more books.

This book made no sense. Characters were horribly written and scene transitions were jarring and ragged. I could see this as a teenager’s first novel, lacking any editorial input. If this book had an editor, I’d be surprised. And then I’d recommend that editor be fired.
The only (and I mean only) thing it has going for it is that it was squeaky clean. Maybe even a little (a lot) too much.
Do not recommend.

Quick read, cute hallmark style romance. I will never tire of the humble, down to earth, millionaire falling for the humble poor girl that is budgeting to save her life even though she may have come from money before. Love this cute story so much. Fun twists and turns and makes sure all loose ends are tied. Love it!

- the characters were 2D as in "I love him, I hate him" and no in-between

It's actually quite amazing how much it can mean to an author if they have an amazing and attractive book cover as with Shannon's book "A Trusting Heart" , I had the cover on the left which in my mind is far more attractive than the one on the right and it got me thinking about whether I brought the book because I loved the cover or whether it was the blurb that got me.
A Trusting Heart starts with the main character heading towards her 10 year High School Reunion - at High School Megan Garrett was the "IT Girl" . The Cheerleader , the Popular one , the one everybody wanted to be and eventually she got engaged to her high school boyfriend who was a jock - Dylan except things didn't quite work out and so now here she is ten years later - single and working in a real estate office and living off commission etc.
If you saw her now compared to her HS Days you would not recognize her.
Enter Dylan and Trevor - Dylan was her ex-fiance whom she was going to marry at their LDS temple after he went away on his mission trip and things didn't work out to plan - now ten years later he wants her back as him and his current wife Taffie aren't exactly on the same page.
Trevor - the school geek and seminary president , honor roll student is now a multimillionaire and owns his own computer company. He always had a crush on Megan and now has he been given a second chance to be with his true love ?
Megan's heart has been stomped on over and over again, so she is cautious when it comes to the opposite sex - who will Megan lean towards - Dylan -the guy she almost married or Trevor - the guy who wants her now ?
Find out in this awesome romance novel and for those who don't mind religious aspects, this novel covers alot of LDS references.

Megan Garrett has gone from being a popular high school cheerleader to living the quiet life as a less-than-successful real estate agent. When she attends her high school class's ten-year reunion, she has to face her ex-fiance Dylan, who is still humiliated by her rejection. She also encounters Trevor Riley, former seminary president, now multimillionaire, who shocks her when he kisses her. From then on, her life begins to change as she becomes involved with Trevor, deals with Dylan, and faces other challenges in her life.

This is a feel-good, happy ending book, although it may take some readers an extra dose of willing suspension of disbelief to overlook the speed and ease of resolution of all difficulties and to enjoy wealthy Trevor as the romantic hero; oftentimes, his money appears to be the one thing he has going for him. Although it's written for the LDS market, the LDS elements are not overwhelming and it may be enjoyed by other readers as well.

This was a great book, but it was short - 184 pages. I am a Shannon Guymon fan. This is the second book of hers I've read and both books left me feeling great.

This book was about a girl who went to her high school reunion and found herself ridiculed and judged by her former friends. She stood tall and determined to be true to herself and who she wanted be, and not succumb to the pressures from other people to be what THEY wanted her to be.

While the book was a pleasure to read, it also taught lessons on pre-judging others and forgiveness - reminders we can all benefit from.

I look forward to reading more books by Shannon Guymon.

Most of Shannon Guymon's books have very similar themes. Child of controlling, unloving, crooked rich parents, falls in love with child of humble, honest, sweet, affectionate, poor parents. First child ends up poor after being cut off from parents, second child becomes richer that first child's parents. All end up opposites of what they were like in High School. Major issues with controlling fathers and mothers. Poor people always end up with oodles of money.

Once you realize that these same story lines will be repeated, you learn to deal with it and then enjoy the stories. This one was cute and had some fun characters, but could have been much deeper. A very quick read.

I liked this one. I think it was one of Ms. Guymon's first books. I think I enjoyed her newer series better, but there were parts of this I quite enjoyed. I liked Trevor and Megan, I kind of wish their relationship and time together had been more of a focus. It was a cute story though and had a fun premise.

This is an LDS novel. I am LDS and even I found this one a little too much. This one wasn't on my to read list, but I had another book by this author on my list so I picked it up. This must be one of her earlier works because it was a bit too preachy and I didn't feel like the main relationship was developed enough. I found the male lead to be annoying and too controlling. At times I felt like the story had potential and then it would let me down. I am hoping I like her other, more recent works better.

This was a quick feel good book. Megan had everything in highschool, the jock boyfriend, grades, cheerleading and even found the gospel, but when her boyfriend left for his mission she struggled. Through the struggle she found herself her true self,she realized that she was living her life with others expectations and desires for her not her own. Her world changed and now she is single, poor and a real estate agent with a dog. find out how life sometimes has a surprise ending in store for us.

This was just not as good as her newest series. It moved way too fast. It could have been a great novel on family and forgiveness, but the major drama of her family was forgotten at the end. The falling in love went waaaay too fast. I'd be really wary of a guy who carried the engagement ring in his pocket to the first date. Guymon is in love with fabulously wealthy Hero's and common Heroines. This couple just didn't impress.

this was a fun, cute, quick read. I would give it a 3 1/2 because it was not very deep, but fun and enjoyable. It was clean, being written by an LDS women who has the church as the character's religion. If you are wanting a book that you don't have to think too much about and can read in a day, this is a good choice.

So. I was pleasantly surprised at how non-cheesy this was. Don't get me wrong -- there was cheese, but it was just sprinkled on top like they do with parmesan at Olive Garden. Cute story, though not as much relationship conflict as you almost hope for.
Over all a good book and I am looking fomward to reading more stuff by her!

7/2011 GSB This was just a light read about a girl who parents wanted only the materistic things and she had a good heart. Leaves their dream husband at the alter and they abandon her as ruining their lives. At the high school reunion meets the guy that was seminary president that is now a multi millionaire and he falls in love with her. Cute and fast read.

I read this and forgot to review it, so checked it out at the library again. Either I'm losing my memory or it wasn't that memorable, maybe a little bit of both.
Having read it twice I enjoyed it both times. As a Realtor® I struggled with the professional inaccuracies, but that won't bother most people.

I found this author when I was looking for books by another author, Rachael Renee Anderson. My library had several by Shannon Guymon. Her writing isn't as good as Anderson's or Melanie Jacobson's. Her books did seem to get better as the series went along. It was a good read if you want a clean story and are out of books to read.

The more I read the less I liked it. Her books are always a fairy tale but this was just too far out there. The more I knew about the lead male character the less I liked him as well. He was very controlling, jealous, used money to assert power, and very immature. Both characters were quick to judge the other and would not communicate. Definitely not one of her best books.

I hate when they put the entire story beginning to end on the back cover! It leaves little to look forward to. So if you get this to read resist the urge to read the cover. Otherwise I really enjoyed this book.

I really enjoyed this book but one thing that drove me crazy was how the point of view would change randomly within a chapter. I think if you are changing perspectives you need to have a chapter break of some kind. Other than that, the characters were likable and the story was a happy one.
