This three pack volume set features: (Books 4-6) A Taste of Sin (Book 4) Shattered trust, sex tapes, and tainted libations ratchet up the stakes in A Taste of Sin. This fourth installment of the Sarah Woods Mystery Series finds Sarah engrossed in an emotional case involving a dying wife and a husband suspected of speeding her demise. Already ensconced in another case, the budding sleuth must help determine the relationship's true nature before it reaches a tragic end.
The Masque of Innocence (Book 5) Obsession, greed, and indecent exposure... When the high-profile wife of an investment banker goes missing, local authorities team up with Sarah Woods and her partner Carter to solve the crime. The pair must track down a list of suspects including an abusive husband, a stalker, and a mysterious guest at a masquerade ball. Will Sarah uncover the truth behind the disappearance, or will coincidence and circumstance convince her to pursue a masque of Innocence?
The Art of Duplicity (Book 6) Art, conspiracy, and murder ... When respected gallery owner Glenn Fleming is shot during a robbery, the thief makes off with valuable artwork and vanishes without a trace. To the cops, it looks like a robbery gone sour, but with no suspects or evidence the case goes cold. Reeling from the death of her husband and lack of answers, Elizabeth seeks the help of local private investigators Sarah and Carter. As the case gets under way, it becomes apparent that Glenn's death was no accident. Sarah must follow her instincts to uncover the truth about a conspiracy that involves the art community, a notoriously dangerous bookie named Dunk, and a dark secret from Glenn's past.
I enjoyed all three stories in this box set. Ms. Jennings can weave a fun story. A few twists and turns kept me guessing. It was fun to see Ms. Woods go from learning to be a P.I. to becoming a P.I. in her own right.
problems she finds herself in of her own making but that's what makes it fund more interesting. Plots were good and keeps you trying to solve The end of the case before she can. I also like Carter.
Easy reading. Three episodes in one volume. Sarah is evolving in her new carrer as a PI. Really nice thing about it was reasonably short chapters in the 3 short stories so you can get something done in between.
Sarah Woods Mystery Series (Volume 2) — Jennifer L. Jennings (Sept. 11-15, 2018)
Contains #4-6 books in the series: “A Taste of Sin;” “The Masque of Innocence;” “The Art of Duplicity.”
Book 4: A Taste of Sin (24 chapters) Set. 11-12, 2018 Three stars There are at least three different plots going on here. Not much Max action, but more Sarah and Carter action. First plot seems over with and done before the next plot where Sarah has offered to help her high school friend’s friend find her brother. But Emily is keeping a secret or two and when the truth comes out, it puts the two old friends at odds. Can Sarah discover what is really going on? (The title is tricky to figure out for this case. Noodle on it awhile…at least I had to.)
Book 5: The Masque of Innocence (18 chapters) Sept, 13, 2018 Three stars A woman’s best friend has gone missing and Sarah investigates: was she kidnapped or murdered; quick read.
Book 6: The Art of Duplicity (19 chapters) Sept. 15, 2018 Four stars Sarah becomes a legal PI; the first case afterwards involves an art gallery owner who is killed in an armed robbery; Carter mysteriously leaves in the middle of the case. Twists and turns in the plot; probably the best story in the series to date. Read in one day!
This next set of stories sees progressive changes for the character. I believe that Carter’s last name is finally revealed and for certain, book six is Sarah’s first case she solves completely on her own. (Although you could argue she solved the mystery in book one.)
Very enjoyable and fast reading; chapters are perfectly sized, but hard to stop at the end!
They ought to make a weekly show about this series
Seriously I can see this as a weekly show maybe call it Woods and Carter or something. I just finished this second boxed set and will most likely to buy the third. I loved how the author started us with Sarah and her career as a message therapist her marriage calling apart and brought us up to her finally getting her own PI licence. The characters are well developed as well as the story line. With the exceptions of a few grammatical errors and a few details of saying the person did one thing and a line of two later they were doing something else which would have been impossible it was easily overlooked. This was a story I found very likeable and look forward to reading more.
This set, Volume 2, holds some pretty good mysteries. The story lines are well thought out and the way they unfold really kept me glued to the pages. I love how Sarah progressively gets better as each case is tackled. She's smart, adapts quickly to her surroundings, quick witted and an overall great lead. I look forward to reading more. A great add to your tbr list.
Sarah Woods is my newest favorite character. She is quite believable. She is smart, down to earth and seems to know her limitations. So far these books piqued my interest early and kept the questions coming so I want to read just a little more. Not really sure why I only gave her a 4. She probably deserves a 5.
This is the first time I've read anything by this author. I'll say right now, that yes, I'm heading over to Amazon to buy Volume1 which I haven't read. I really enjoyed this3 book set. If you are a mystery fan you will too.
I enjoy this series. It’s not SERIOUS reading, but it is very enjoyable. The first set does a great job of setting Sara Woods’ character and this set takes her a few steps up the ladder to becoming a REAL “amateur detective”.
I really enjoyed these books, found myself wanting to keep on reading even when I couldn't. These books were a bit different than my usual, but found I really liked the style.
This is good reading for all . Murder mystery at its best with all the extras thrown in for free! This isn't a gory set it just goes straight forward , full steam ahead .
A fantastic set of murder mysteries starring new PI Sarah Woods. A collection of compelling murder mysteries with lots of twists and turns and just the right amount of action. Well written with well developed characters.
The stars in the volume were totally great thrillers that kept on your seat the whole time you're reading them I would highly recommend this author if you're looking for a good thriller that has a lot of action intrigue and even some romance
Sarah is as unlike any heroine I ever heard about. She seems to be the unwilling participant, who seem to stop herself from moving forward. I have now completed the first two box sets and have acquired the next two. I have to see where she is going next. Great reading!
Enjoyable story line that drew me into in to Sarah's life. I found I wanted to grab a drink and curl up on the sofa with her for a gab fest. She drew me in entwined my heart and mind with her outlook and emotion. Thank you for the pleasure of your company.
This was quite a good read, my only criticism is about the nationality of th character Mariposa, I appreciate that it is a Spanish name, but all the way through it was stated that she was a Colombian model, to my mind Colombia is South America, not Europe.
Not having read the first collection I was pleasantly surprised with the depth of the characters in this collection. I can't wait to read the original set and the ensuing series.
So happy got her PI license. Now she can get cases solved on her own, no holds barred. Ready to start third set of stories and see what she will be doing next. Hummm. Is Carter too old for her?
I gave the series 5 stars because I looked forward to each reading session. The plots developed smoohly, the characters were believable, and each book in the series provided the same level of satisfaction.
meh. I didnt.find the plot, mystery, or characters particularly engaging. I almost laughed out loud when one of the characters said, "I shall." Nobody talks like that.
Enjoyed reading the three books in succession. Each story held the reader wanting to turn the page faster to see where Sarah woods next move would take her.
