I became a card-carrying bookworm at the ripe old age of eight or nine. I loved to read, especially books on topics such as rocketry, electronics, and mechanics, but I didn’t want to become a writer. In fact, I hated to write anything, so I paid just enough attention in my English classes to get a passing grade.

By the time I was sixteen and a junior in high school, I had my own thriving radio and television repair business, which pretty much paid my way through college. I went on to get a degree in electronics. Then, at the age of thirty-four, I was blindsided by the urge to start writing articles on electronics for people wanting to learn electronics on their own. Well, I had no idea how to begin writing articles on electronics, so I devoured books on the craft of writing nonfiction. I wish that The 7-Minute Author: How to Write Great Content Fast was available back then because it sure would have flattened the learning curve for me.

Since then, I have read many books on the art of crafting fiction and nonfiction alike, but The 7-Minute Author: How to Write Great Content Fast by Larry Chambers is the first book on writing that I have ever read that can turn a non-writer into a writer almost overnight. This book is a quick read, but it’s packed with the how-to that every aspiring writer needs to get started on the road to a successful writing career. This book is short simply because there isn’t any fluff, just good, solid teachings. Everyone, even old, experienced writers like me, can learn new tricks from this book.
Chamber’s style kind of reminds me of some of the programmed textbooks that I used, where the authors presented new knowledge in bite-sized chunks that made it easy for the reader to grasp.
Whether you are an aspiring blogger or writer of articles, you need to read this book. These principles can even be applied to fictional stories with little modification.
