A huge destination wedding, merging two blueblood families, is about to take place in St. Martin, when Cindy and Mattheus get an emergency call from the father of the bride. He wants them to come down to the island immediately and dig up dirt on the groom. He can’t shake his bad feeling about the guy, even though all his other investigations didn’t turn up a thing.
Cindy and Mattheus, who have been spending time building their relationship and are much closer, agree to come down on a lark and see what they can find. With help from informants from the seamy side of the island, they stumble upon a shocking secret that no one knows about: not his friends, not his family, and not his bride.
Cindy and Mattheus disagree about what should be done. But as the father confronts the bride with the news, it sets off a dramatic and unexpected response. Soon, a sudden death follows.
As all of this is going on, Cindy unexpectedly discovers something that also shakes her world: Mattheus, too, has a deep, dark secret that he has never told her. As Cindy and Mattheus investigate the awful homicide, they must also deal with this new revelation which threatens to tear their relationship apart.

I gave this two stars because I actually did finish the book. I have not read any of the other books on this series. I downloaded it on a day it was being offered for free. Let me start with what was right with this book; the setting. Reading about anything taking place in the Caribbean is a chance to get away from it all. Now on to what was wrong with this book. The entire thing seemed as though this was a first draft that the author decided to upload and publish as it was rather than even do rudimentary editing. I don't understand why anybody would publish a book in this manner. I don't care how much of a hurry you are in, you don't publish books on this manner, end of discussion! Next was the characters. The PI detectives, Cindy and Mattheus, were not well characterized, even though presumably we've been following them since book one. Cindy might have been a bit of a decent character but there's nothing very tough about her. She's sensitive and very soft. Mattheus was even worse, and his opinions about anything going on in the story seemed to echo other male characters in the book except for the father who hired them. The bride, Tara, also ended up ridiculously portrayed, making it seem like she's going off the deep end, when in truth her reaction seemed strained at the very least. Along with all those problems, the mystery doesn't even really begin until about half way through the book. Then the mystery was rushed and the conclusion rather unfulfilling. I almost cynically wonder if this book is purposely bad in order to get reviews? I'm sure this whole series would have a lot more potential of it had been well executed.
Although the story line was good the editing is horrible...... at one point the last name of a character was wrong in a single chapter (head slap) but, they're quick easy reads that I grab for late night reading on my Kindle. The best I can say is Matheus and Cindy are likable characters.
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so. Shelley MA
This book doesn't start as a murder investigation, it starts with the father of the bride wanting Cindy and Matteus to find dirt on the prospective groom. It soon turns into more and Cindy and Matteus are once again thrown into the middle of a much bigger mystery than they originally thought. Their relationship is still up and down and they can't seem to make up their minds.
This book had a lot more wrong with it than it did right. Everything from the formatting to sentence structure to grammar and word use was a mess! You can blame file conversion on just so much and then you have to take responsibility for your writing. If there was an upside to this story it could only be that it was short. There was no mystery to solve, but that is probably a good thing because the two 'detectives' working on it were clueless. Overall, this story was poorly written, poorly edited, and just a sad waste of time. I only finished it because I started it!
This book came across as if a teenager wrote it. The editing is terrible with poor indentions, bad paragraphs and grammatical errors. I can understand why this person goes out of their way to stay anonymous. What I don't understand is why anyone would publish even one of these books, if you can call it that. I have read many e-books of all kinds and this is the only one given a poor review. I am a fair critic but also an honest one. Bad!
Not a bad storyline but I found the dialogue hard to read. It seemed stilted and forced in a lot of places. And the conversations were essentially the same over and over and over. Maybe because it is the 8th book in the collection or maybe because this one was just hard to write or the author was not into it. I don't know. I felt like this book was just stuck in there to open up a new thread in the character's lives and a murder was a convenient way to work in a whole new life that one of them had kept secret for years. I have not read any of the other books though so I may be wrong.
Book #8 in the Caribbean Murder series, this is a fast reading mystery about two private investigators hired by the father of a bride-to-be. The bride's subsequent death led to a very wealthy, influential family member being a suspect. The groom's past (illegal son) cast shadows on the investigation. Well written, suspenseful. I rate this a 4.6.
The 2 characters have no chemistry and after reading several of the books in this series I find the author repeating Cindy's feelings that I read in previous books.
Once again the author confused character names which really is surprising to me.
This is the third book in the series that I have read, and I have enjoyed each. The plots are twisted with lots of surprises along the way. The characters are well defined and their actions enhance who they are.
This is book 8 in Jaden Skye's Caribbean Murder series. The books have all been well-written, interesting, with great character development. The reason I only gave this book 3 stars is that I have a bit of trouble reconciling all the serious relationship problems that Cindy and Mattheus have.
got it free and happy I did. I've read others in the series which were ok but this plot was tedious. the characters were absolutely boring. sorry to say I just couldn't finish it
This was the first in the 10 book series that I read. It was pretty good, albeit a little wordy at times. I think it would be a great summer, on the beach read. Good enough that I plan to read the entire 10 books. Will keep you posted.
How would you describe your mother-in-law? Caring, over bearing, invested, incorrigible? Sometimes you have no choice who is family. You marry all of their family, not just the ones you.like.
This is only the second of this series I've read. The storyline is okay and I didn't figure out whodunit, so the writing was pretty good. What turned me off was the number of errors. I think someone should redo the book. I bookmarked 17 pages with errors.
The story had no proper ending! I got just what I paid for. I read a lot of stories and all good ones end with some kind of solid conclusion. I kept looking for the last page or chapter on this one!
Great little murder mystery. It can stand alone but there are a few references back to Cindy's husband. I didn't find that to be too disruptive though. I am going to need to read Book 9...the ending of this one is just too juicy not too.
