"My name is Aoife, and I want to tell you my story. It's not a love story, although there is love in it.
This is the story of how I found my inner self...and how she then took over my life.
Think you know your self? Think again."

When Aoife Carmichael is spiked with an hallucinogenic drug at a party, she suddenly finds she didn't know herself as well as she thought. After her 'reflection' convinces her to swap places, Aoife realises she is trapped inside her own body and unable to control anything she says or does. All she can do is watch as her darker self seems intent on destroying everything and everyone she cares about.
Only her best friend, Sarah, seems to sense something is wrong, but when Aoife sets about seducing her, it's clear she has other plans for her. Darker plans.
Will Aoife figure out how to swap back before there is nothing left in her life, or will she be trapped inside her own head forever?

Peach, you freak! This was so damn disturbing. See that cover? How innocent and innocuous it looks? Ha! It’s a ruse.

I can only imagine the glee you had coming up with this torturous plot. And you, lady, are on my most twisted list. Did I enjoy it? No! Well, yes. But, no! I don’t care that it was brilliant and so well done. You gave me the heebie-jeebies and made my gut twist inside. I had to put the book down in the middle of the read and just walk away for a day. The ONLY saving grace is that I know you have twists and I was waiting for it...and, madam, I’m looking at you. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. Which means I’m reluctantly ok with where you went and I say that through gritted teeth.

For anyone brave enough to pick up this book...or if you enjoy the sinister of sinister...one, this is not lesfic. Bi-fic, yes. There’s explicit m/f in addition to f/f.

There are also rape triggers ahead and the whole damn book is disturbing.

It’s intense, a page-turner, wicked, and the characters and plotting are great. Aoife, pronounced EEE-FUH, our lead, is a sympathetic character while her alter-ego is something out of a horror movie.

A feel good read? No. Heart-pumping and makes you want to scream “NOOOO!” the whole time? Yes.

Worth reading? If you’re up for a completely spellbinding, brilliant, wild, and horrific ride, absolutely. Ugh. I hate to love this book. It’s your fault, Peach!

Nietzsche wrote; "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that he does not become a monster in the process."

Reading this book, in the car, heading to the East part of the country just about turned me into a nutcase. I kid you not, I was either muttering to myself or screaming obscenities at Vader Jr demanding answers. Throughout the book, I was just gobsmacked by all the unimaginable/
unthinkable twists the author threw in. I’m talking jaw-on-the-ground, stunned, speechless, repeatedly uttering WWF over and over again kind of twist -and the finale, think the ending of the movie Inception.

Plot-wise I really can’t say much more or I’d be venturing into spoiler territory. What I can say is that what you read won’t be what it seems. The entire book was one gigantic Donald Trump! Ms.Peach's unique and originality behind her stories are the main driving force of why her books are a must-read for psychological thriller enthusiasts.

As readers, we are all going to have a different take on our reads and it will never be truer with this author's work. Stories where multiple theories are plausible. Multiple what-ifs.

For her ballsy moves, not afraid to screw with her readers' minds, helping my bladder to behave in this 12 hours road trip and remembering her 2 other books that I've read, Ms.Peach deserves all her stars colored.
If you survived this, 21 Weeks Series by R.A. LaShea will be a walk in Tesco.

Entertaining+Slightly Disturbing for only a Dollar.

Oh my... what a storyteller. I could not put this down, even when I could feel that hollow feeling in my chest knowing that everything was going south in a massive way. Aoife is pretty straight laced, doesn't think she's much more than ordinary when she looks in the mirror and has a nice job looking after the elderly in a care home. She meets a gorgeous guy and agrees to take him to a party at Sarah's (her flatmate) boyfriend's place. She's not sure she likes Marc because he seems fairly fond of drugs but Sarah is really happy. After way too much to drink followed by a cup of herbal tea, everything seems to go awry for Aoife.

Peach has a gift for fantastic stories. There are way too many exclamation marks, grammar errors and spelling mistakes and I couldn't have cared less because I was riveted, engaged and actually hoping for the best possible turn out.

There's disturbing and then there's this book.

There is something truly twisted about this particular story. The unique thing about this book is that it felt like there were always two characters constantly vying for your attention as its reader. As I was reading and being absolutely horrified at what this evil Aoife was doing, normal Aoife was right there in my head screaming and being just as horrified.

The funny thing is this book actually made me laugh several times during the first couple of chapters. I started wondering why everyone who reviewed this said it was so disturbing. So Aoife has an evil version of herself stuck in her head, so what?

By the end of chapter four I was no longer laughing. I couldn't even crack a smile for the remainder of the book. There was an unease that settled into the back of my mind that didn't leave until I finished reading. The amount of evilness this darker Aoife possesses is astonishing.

This book actually reminds me of the movie Fallen with Denzel Washington. Click here for the trailer. If you've seen it that's how creepy this book was. That seemingly innocent cover freaks me out now. Definitely take a look at what other reviewers had to say and then ask yourself whether this is the book for you to start reading today, Friday the 13th.

Overall rating is a 4*. The ending was a little weak and the horrendous use of all CAPS and TXT language was an abomination to have to suffer through.

Trigger warnings: explicit m/f & f/f scenes, drugs & alcohol abuse and rape.

I really wasn’t too sure about this, the first 21% of the book had me thinking this would be a bit of a meh read – at times the dialogue and thoughts of the main character felt somewhat adolescent (and not in a way that had me keenly leaning in devouring what was written). I found myself waiting to be drawn in and luckily about the 21%/22% mark things started to pick up, as things took a rather trippy/kooky turn (in a good way).

I don’t know if it’s all the lectures/talks through the years received from my mum about That being said, that’s the moment when things start to take an interesting and somewhat weird turn (weird in a good way).

I was a tad bummed at the

The psychological thriller components of this, and the undertones of in the book engaged me, and there were some interesting/good twists in this, but honestly I’ve finished this book not sure if I really liked it or if it was just an ok/interesting one time read (potential re-read in the future).

My God this book was fucking creepy. Romance book lovers only...beware. This book is most likely not for you. And it really was not for me either. But lov2laf made me read it, so it's her fault.:)

There were several times where I almost punted it to DNF, it was just so dark and disturbing. But it coiled around my brain like a black snake and I could not look away. Numerous scenes had me wanting to curl up in a fetal position and hyperventilate and/or cry and/or shit my pants.

The MC, Aoife...I don't know wtf to make of her. If she was possessed or just fucking bat shit crazy. I'm leaning towards the latter. I've been trying to think of someone I can compare her to and the only one I can think of is Lizzie Borden but I actually think Aoife makes Lizzie Borden look like Polly-fucking-anna.

I highly recommend the book even though it made my stomach and heart clench for the several hours it took to read it. I will not favorite the book nor will I re read it. But it is one that will stick with me a long time and if a book can do that to you, you know it was most likely well written. I did feel like the author took the easy way out at the end of the book but really my god damn heart needed a break anyway.

And the cheesy Nancy Drew cover art has to be a complete joke, just like lov2 mentioned in her review. It's almost laughable for me to look at the book cover now after reading the book.

P.S. vacatedboat, Christmas came early this year for you because like her Blurring Lines book, there are copious amounts of exclamation points on EVERY page.

I started to keep a laundry list of the evil things that happen in this book, but found that I was taking too many notes…because the main character in this book just does way too many twisted things. At first, I was amused by ‘In Reflection.’ The main character has a back and forth internal dialogue with herself as if she’s two people (the proverbial devil and angel on one’s shoulder) that I couldn’t help but laugh. Then, all of a sudden, the devil pushed full steam ahead and the book wasn’t so amusing anymore. It was fucking twisted. I don’t even know how one’s head comes up with half the things evil-Aoife did. I'm giving this 4* because this book is unique if nothing else (and I was entertained by it and got to a point where I had to know what crazy thing would happen next).

I think I need a shelf for 'my-brain-was-just-broken-by-the-number-of-fucked-up-things-I-just-read.'

Michele and lov2 both wrote very good reviews on this, so I’m not really going to bother trying to get into this anymore. I only have three questions:

1) Why so many exclamation points?!!!!
2) Y R DA TXTS WRTN IN ALL CAPS N W ANNOYING F’ING ABBRs?! LOL! VB XXX!
(That was hard just to f’ing fake-type).
3) What the hell ever happened to Etienne?

----
I'm going to leave this little side note. My review probably seems a little...angry...but I'm not angry and I did enjoy this and recommend it to people who enjoy psychological thrillers. My brain is just a little fucked up right now.

What the hell did I just read? Holy cow. When I read reviews saying it’s gonna be dark, I didn’t expect it to be DARK.

Aoife went to a party with her best friend, Sarah, along with their respective partners. During that party, some dickwad offered her mushroom tea which got her so high that she can’t act, speak, or think right. While she was high, her subconscious came out speaking to her, like a conversation with a friend. She convinced Aiofe that she'll somewhat be paralyzed forever and that she can help Aoife out by willing her into the driver’s seat of her mind while Aoife takes a step back and becomes the subconscious instead.

That’s when shit took some turns. I was making annotations on the things that she did to keep track and end up just giving up. One, because it was too many, and two, because it made me feel worse than I already did.

This is one book that I wish they would just go with the cliche route and make the entire thing a dream. I’m not spoiling anything and saying that that didn't happen, but I am satisfied with how it ended. I had a few instances where I was questioning the characters' follow up actions, thankfully everything was part of the writer’s plan to give the story and the characters more depth. Everything made sense.

I do however feel like there are things I would like to know more about. Like what’s actually going on, what she's gonna do with her, and what happened to those other characters. Also, I don’t really like how the book started. The conversations felt like two teenagers talking instead of women in their late 20s. Trivial matters that shouldn’t really be a concern considering how things went on after the introduction.

The story is fucked up - and I definitely recommend it.

Trigger warning: Most bad things you can think of. Not bad, but BAD.

So, in my previous review I wrote that reading about sociopaths and psychopaths in detail is fun while it scares me shitless..
Lo and behold.. This one actually makes me scared of my own (till now ignored) subconscious!
I mean wtaf!
The twist after twist literally didn't let me sleep a wink since I oh so cleverly took to reading the book at 2 in the morning. I wanted to see through to the end badly but at the same time very much dreaded the possible and impossible variety of conclusions.
For all of the book's truly disturbing storyline, I have to give it to Ms. Peach for going completely out there and delivering a headache inducing worthy psycho-thriller. I don't think many would dare to attempt what she did.. For that she actually deserves praise.

I just feel bad for my poor psyche.. Sweet sweet uncomplicated lesfic, here I come!

Aoife gets zonked with a bit of hallucinogens and can not resurface, so instead, her latent dark-side takes over leaving Aoife nothing more than a powerless rider observing an evil entity wreaking hell upon all her relationships.

I really enjoyed the concept of this story. I have purposely phrased my previous statement as such, because the story goes places that will shock and horrify and make you cringe. Aoife's dark-side is a complete sociopath and the reader quickly determines that this personality has no sense of self preservation. It wants nothing more than to torment poor Aoife and the things it does quickly escalate far beyond any sort of comfort zone.

The brilliant aspect is that you have sympathy for some small ball of kindness within this complete evil monster of a character. The dark-side demonstrates wily schemes to foment complete destruction of all that is innocent in Aoife's life and her final target is to be Aoife's young sister. I was biting my nails trying to figure out how Aoife was going to regain dominance, and even if she does, will there be anything left?

Don't do drugs, kids!

I've never read this kind of book before and surprisingly it was not that bad but it's quite bad!! Angela Peach makes a plot twist just like a piece of cake and it's work so damn well! I felt very uneasy when the evil Aoife took in charge of her mind. I felt like everything was falling apart and until now I'm still asking myself why she wants so damn much ruin people's lives around her??

Thank you, Aamina for suggesting this book! You really make my mind-blowing!!

Although I love how Peach is able to play with a readers mind, this story was too out there (far-fetched) for me to immerse myself in completely.

The entire, your boyfriend orchestrated a threesome, and her friend believing her, didn't work for me considering The incident with the old man was equally ridiculous.

With that said, those things paled in comparison with how difficult it was for me to reconcile Aoife's age with her actions. She came as someone closer to 18 than 28, which meant the story had an overwhelming Young Adult feel to it.

Annoying typos and overuse of exclamations aside, the story kept me reading, so I'm putting this int the "I liked it, but didn't love it" pile.

I really loved this book. Started reading it yesterday at 5pm and was finished by 11. It's one of the most original books I've read for a long time. Would definitely recommend!

3 stars. The ending was really damn good. The plot to this is a total mind fuck and extremely dark and full of twists but the writing really hindered it for me. I didn’t like it. The beginning part feels a bit disjointed from the rest of the book which was strange, a lot of the dialogue felt stilted and awkward and the plot jumped around a lot. However, Aoife is a fascinating character. The wild ass journey she went through made this an addicting read and I blew through it so quickly because I needed to know what was going to happen next. Her dynamics with Sarah were toxic as hell but interesting and again I really did like the way this ended. I just think the writing left a lot to be desired.

Aoife Carmichael is just a regular girl. Shy and a bit of an introvert, but she’s just met the man of her dreams. All this changes when she takes a hallucinogenic drug at a party. The cup of spiked herbal tea ensures that her life will never be the same again.

This story is all about Aoife and finding her inner self, her dark side or her evil self, whichever way this experience can be described. Her dark side takes complete control over her life after she persuaded Aoife to swap places with her. Aoife is locked inside of her own head with no way out. She can only watch helplessly while her dark side completely destroys everyone she cares for and loves.

Aoife’s best friend and roommate Sarah, senses something is wrong with Aoife. But Aoife seduces her and Sarah falls in love with her. Unfortunately, Aoife’s dark side has plans for Sarah.

Will Aoife be able to get rid of her other self? Will she be able to get her life back before it’s been totally destroyed by her evil side. Or is Aoife trapped, locked inside herself forever?

On the whole, this is an exciting and emotionally charged psychological thriller. A book along the lines of Jekyll and Hyde. The main characters are multi-faceted and fully formed. They are bolstered by a cast of well written secondary characters that enhanced the story and progressed it along. There are lots of ups and downs throughout, making this book a roller coaster ride.

There was one thing that spoilt this book for me quite early on. What I thought was totally a lesbian fiction book, has graphic hetero sex in it. Although I skipped over it, I spent the rest of the book dreading more such scenes cropping up.

For anyone liking a good psychological thriller with a twist, this is a good book to read. Angela Peach has really got into the mind of Aoife and her evil side.

I won this book in a private giveaway, along with two others by Angela Peach. "In Reflection" explores the unexpected effects of an hallucinogenic drug. The result? No one could predict it. As Peach tells this story, it becomes clear that a specific group of readers would be drawn to it. If you are female, late teens to mid-twenties, questioning your sexuality or recently out, then this is the book for you. Lots of twists, relationship issues and sex will keep you turning the pages.
