The longest conflict in history lasted 4000 years and ended in a decisive victory nearly 2000 years ago. Still, many have not yet heard the news and they continue to fight the battle - the battle of sin and judgment.
On the cross Jesus said "It is finished," victory was declared, and reconciliation began. It was the victory promised when Jesus was born and the angels declared Luke 2:14 says, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men" Luke 2:14. Is this saying Jesus came to create peace among men? If it is, then He has most certainly failed.
The peace he spoke of was not among men, but between God and man. Sin is no longer the issue; the price has been paid once and for all. God sent His only Son to bear our sin, becoming sin itself, and then judged Him without mercy for that sin. Was His sacrifice enough for you? Is God withholding His blessing because of your sin? If you die with an unconfessed sin, would you be lost? The answers in this book will release you from the condemnation of judgment and fear. It will free you to receive the promised blessings of God!
Andrew began his ministry in 1972 and is the President and Founder of Andrew Wommack Ministries and Charis Bible College located in Colorado Springs. He founded Charis Bible College in 1994 and has established 70+ extension colleges in major cities of America and around the world. Andrew has produced a library of teaching materials in print, audio, and visual formats.
My wife and I finished this book today. I enjoy reading books to her. She has had trouble embracing Andrew's grace ministry due to heavy judgmental indoctrination from her Baptist upbringing but the love of God is growing on her (and in her). Andrew is not a fiery, Bible thumping, fist pumping preacher but a quiet, composed and compassionate teacher of God's Word. I can't recommend him enough. We are starting God Wants You Well next.
Andrew Wommack's “The War Is Over”: An Insight To God's Disposition Towards The Believer
As a Christian—a believer—who has heard and studied the Word of God in light of new creation realities, I felt I understood the basic of God's love towards me. I easily confessed and agreed that God is not angry with me. However, reading Wommack's The War Is Over, I realized that my belief was shaky.
When I think of The War Is Over, Hebrews 4:12 comes to mind: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Wommack reveals that God is no longer angry with the believer because He has totally atoned for our sins—past, present, future. This should be a common truth, a general knowledge for the new creation believer, but Wommack delivers this truth in a way that penetrates your heart, and makes you question your actions like: how you question God when financial blessings do not come your way despite your being faithful to Him and His work.
This may seem an honest concern, but with Wommack's book, you come to realize that you question God because you feel His blessings are a function of your performance, your faithfulness. With your mouth you say the war is over and God isn't angry with you, but with your heart you feel you still have to work to gain approval (and consequent blessings) from God.
The War Is Over is a complete book; it highlights core truths as it eschews legalism, and points to God's will for mankind without gravitating towards universalism. It's an exposition communicated in the simplest of words backed up with biblical proofs. I recommend it to every believer—from new converts eating the sincere milk of the Word, to older believers. Everyone needs to know the core of the gospel: The war is over. And God isn't angry with us.
This book does well is presenting the argument of Grace versus Works: a principal argument in Christianity. Summary 1. All sin, past, present, and future has been paid for every human being by Jesus Christ. 2. God isn’t angry. He’s not judging us for our sin and not punishing us for the sins we commit. 3. Sin is the door Satan can use to gain access to us. 4. Sin has never changed God's affection for us. 5. Accept 1. and be saved. 6. Love God and allow his love to lead you in all you do.
There was a lot of repetition in the book. The writing could have benefitted from revisions and edits. All in all, I think the author's stand on the Grace is clear, I learnt a lot.
I love this author and, as far as content is concerned, this book is a 5-star read. However, the book is very repetitive which made it quite boring at times. I definitely struggled reading through some chapters.
Not my favorite Andrew Wommack book, but I still would highly recommend this because of the amazing revelation of how, because of Jesus, truly the war is over.
Uh, let's just say there is a more consistent view in the world. there are books that repeat themselves to a tenth degree less. there are voices with more historical and biblical understanding. there are truths presented here, but with a foundation made of sand. there are also many fallacies upon which people have trusted much, but that will fail very quickly when things go according to reality.
The reason why i only give it 2 start it's not because the book is not good. The book is good and I like this author the he writes his book. He make them live to you as a reader. But in this book I think he has repeated himself so much which I don't like.
Loved this book - which is another of this AW's really good books. If you are new to AW & would like to transform your mind from guilt conscience, empty religious thinking, then this (plus the Holy Bible of course!) will do it. AW's writing is clear, to the point, full of gospel truth and solid enough to be practical. If you've read AW's books before, this is still refreshing and worth going through although not much is new. Just a small note in that it took me approx 6months to go through since I gave my original hard copy out and couldn't get a replacement immediately - nothing to do with quality of book.
