The One True God - Biblical study of the Doctrine of God

Rate this book
The One True God is a unique kind of workbook, intending not just to teach truth but to lead to an encounter with the living God. Beneath that goal the book aims to ground believers in orthodox Christian theology and the actual contents of the Bible. Students are encouraged to thoughtfully draw conclusions from the Scriptures rather than to merely absorb the principles, inferences, and illustrations set before them by the author. For this reason the book does not include such material and instead focuses on digesting the Scriptures directly. Through God s own words and under various systematic headings the book unfolds the nature of God. In this way the reader is set on a firm foundation and will readily perceive the centrality and high authority of biblical doctrine within the Christian life. It is the author s conviction that the study of doctrine is both an intellectual and devotional discipline. Therefore students are guided throughout the study to think through and apply the truths they learn, meditating on the demands of Scripture for their heart and mind. The book puts us squarely in the middle of the material, and demands we give searching thought to how we will live before such a God. This workbook is especially suited for the following contexts: (1) doctrinal training for new converts; (2) college or adult Bible studies; (3) private study; (4) Christian or home school curriculum; (5) Sunday school material; (6) an aid to parents in teaching the Word of God to their families.

I came across this gem on kindle unlimited. I’m preparing to teach lesson on “God” for our Women’s Bible Study in Everyday Theology. What a great reference book for me as well as one to warm my heart! As I’ve said many times, the teacher learns and is blessed far more in preparation than the students will be in the lesson. Im thankful that I found this book and it has been extremely helpful for my planning and my soul. It is biblically and theologically sound teaching.

I honestly do not recommend this book. It was so hard to read because it had a lot Bible verses to look up. I did it for a Bible study so I had to do a chapter a week. So maybe if I could read it slower it would be better. But I also found the actual format to be repetitive and not super edifying. It was not practical either.

Great book

Very good devotional or mentoring group study. Scripture is front and center throughout. Worth your time so long as you have your bible open next to it.

It was a good study, but I didn't go that in depth in each question, because I believe if you were to answer each question in detail it would take you at least six years to finish the study. Otherwise it was good study to show you where certain doctines come from in scripture, and it gives you many scripture references to prove that doctrine / attribute of God.

Excellent book. This is the type of book I was praying, hoping to find. Washer is a household name and one of my favorites. This book like his sermons is impacting me, and God is causing me to know Him more through His Word, and the use of this resource that drives me into His Word.

Really fantastic. I wasn't expecting it to be as rich as it was - every chapter was so good and strengthening. As they walked through each of the aspects of God's character, they would also draw connections of how that effects our relationship with God. So good!

Um livro sobre os atributos de Deus. Em muitas de suas pregações, Paul Washer sempre faz a seguinte indagação: "Quando foi a última vez que, você ouviu uma pregação sobre os Atributos de Deus?"
