Secrets of the Light: Lessons from Heaven

Rate this book
In 1975, Dannion Brinkley was struck and killed by lightning. When he awoke in a morgue twenty-eight minutes later, everything was forever changed. During this near-death experience, Brinkley was sent to heaven through a tunnel of light. On the other side, he received valuable lessons and spiritual knowledge, which he brought back and incorporated into his daily life. For him, it was a profound spiritual transformation. During the next twenty years, Brinkley had not one, but "two" more near-death experiences. Each time he visited heaven, where more knowledge was revealed to him, he was sent back to earth to fulfill his heavenly duties. Now, in "Secrets of the Light," he shares the lessons he learned in the afterlife so we, too, can fulfill our true purpose in life.

Brinkley outlines the "Four-Fold Path to Power"--Love, Choice, Belief, and Prayer--that will empower you to follow your destiny. He then unveils the Seven Truths from the afterlife and how to use them to enhance health, happiness, and prosperity. We also learn how to perform a "daily life review"--a quick assessment of your daily life that acts as a reminder to give thanks, stay true to yourself, and treat others with kindness. With wit, humor, and compassion, Brinkley shows that by living the way heaven intends, and always being conscious of your actions and how they affect others, you will find happiness in this life and beyond.

AMAZING INSIGHTS into life and death. I heard him speak at an osteopathic conference in the 90's. He is as down to earth as he says he is. He is funny and a very special human on this earth. I believe what he says as I have heard other similar accounts of near death experiences. I have been a psychiatrist and osteopathic physician for 23 years. And a psych nurse for 10 years before that. I have heard it all. He is very sincere. His first book was called. "Saved by the Light". Also very good. You need to have a curiosity about life after death to truly appreciate this fascinating account. Roberta Fennig DO.

As someone who went through something called "The dark night of the soul" and became spiritually awakened or enlightened, this book made so much sense. If he was speaking truth and I believe he was for most of it, though sometimes we know how easy it is to stretch the truth, then this is something he truly experienced. I am fascinated by the afterlife, and I do as much research as i possibly can. Being someone who has experienced spirits/ghosts, and someone who has also seen/felt truth .. and been guided by angels. I apprecaite stories like this and can't help but hunger for more knowledge. Once you get a taste, you can't stop. Just like him, after his first experience. It takes priority over everything else because its so hard to fathom what you just experienced. Being here on earth we are taught and preached what to believe, but noone ever looks inside for answers.
In the book of Daniel, God says "People will go here and there to find answers, close up the book"
Its the truth. We already have all the answers within us.
I receommend the book for anyone who is feeling like the truth they have been taught doesn't really fit with what they feel on the inside.

Whether or not you believe this near death story to be true, the book is still a good read and has many deep insights and opinions. Worth the read.

Sorry- I don’t agree with this. Particularly the author’s erroneous interpretation of the early Church. Guy had 3 near death experiences, imho, he never got close enough to the Truth!

For anyone interested in enhancing their ability to bring light and healing to the world, this is a book for you. Brinkley offers practical suggestions for how we can elevate our consciousness and be at peace with leaving the physical plane and returning to the spirit world, or what he calls The Source. The final few sentences of the last chapter aptly summarize his main theme: “Love is our essence as well as our destiny. When we elevate our consciousness to embrace this truth, when we align our every thought, word, and deed with its vibration, then we shall create Heaven on Earth.” Grade: A

It did make me open my mind and practice trusting. I appreciate this book but it is not my style. Being Asian I am use to lessons being taught in one sentence instead of an entire chapter. Maybe I am not spiritually mature enough to feel the author's words but I wish he had more life stories instead of repeated rambling that sounded like preaching.

A loving person who is seeking guidance in life and death might enjoy hearing this author speak.

Thank You for Your Boxes of Knowledge, Dannion

I first became familiar with Dannion’s Death/Near Death Experience in Saved by the Light when it was first published many years ago. That book changed my life in many ways, since I’d also had what I believe may have been at least one if not two NDEs by that point in my life. So, Dannion’s account(s) bolstered my own belief that – at the very least – I wasn’t crazy. SOME thing had happened, possibly an NDE, possibly just an OBE (out-of-body experience), but something out of the ordinary, at the least. Then recently, I had the great honor of being part of an ascension mystery school which featured the knowledge Dannion has accumulated after 3 additional Near Death Experiences. Dying or even being as close to death as Dannion was FOUR times, is definitely NOT for the faint of heart! If you’ve had an NDE or are even curious about what it is or even if you haven’t, I highly recommend ALL of Dannion’s work. He’s a font of knowledge (which includes the Boxes of Knowledge which were shared with him by the Beings of Light during one of his NDEs) and a love. Espavo, Dannion. Thank you so much for taking your power and for all that you’ve contributed. It is priceless. Blessings.

Few books have touched me as deeply as Secrets of the Light. Through the personal experience of three Near Death situations, Brinkley writes of the "lessons" he learned. Humble in his approach, he's also humorous at times, but always straightforward as he addresses the complex notion of life having a divine purpose. He underscores how our thoughts, words, and actions have an effect on the whole. Inspiring and hopeful, I highly recommend this book.

This dude got struck by lightning then continued to nearly die two more times. What a trip. Really unique story pretty interesting how his multiple NDE experiences differed.

I most enjoyed the first half where he told his story, the second half he did more reflection but I didn’t find that part as interesting personally. Loved his enthusiasm but it got a bit repetitive.

Overall he had a pretty cool story but his writing style wasn’t my favorite.

You learn more about how to live

Probably in my top 10 books. Very eye opening and easy to digest especially for us imperfect human beings who can be so hard on ourselves. Be loving. Be grateful. Be happy. Be kind. Enjoy

I loved the message that this book carries towards the end. The last 2-3 chapters are filled with love and beautiful messages to live by. I wanted to record them all and keep them close.

I really enjoyed the insight from author Dannion Brinkley. He gives what I feel is an honest account of his life after death experience. Reading the work of Raymond Moody, it was nice to see how he worked with him on a lot of this NDE understanding. I feel there is a lot that needs to be examined in the field of NDE, where focusing on the aspects of love, knowledge, and bettering the Earth are exactly what the spirits from above would want and what Jesus taught while briefly on the Earth. I like how he focused on the concept of Hell as not being that and an invention of the early transformation of Constantine and his established council. This book is a good read for almost anyone that is interested in the afterlife. We all need to dispel the thoughts rooted in negativity in our lives and start living for the positive things we are instructed to accomplish in this 3 dimensional existence.

When I read, "In 1975, Dannion Brinkley was struck and killed by lightning. When he awoke in a morgue twenty-eight minutes later, everything was forever changed." it most definitely intrigued me. When my mom started reading it and suggested I do the same, I gave it a go and read the first chapter. After that chapter I knew that I wanted to continue and read the rest. If you are interested in near-death experiences I would suggest you to pick it up. It offers insight and information into the afterlife. Brinkley writes in a way that is easy to read. It is a book that teaches important lessons that everyone can apply to their lives. And he does so with humor and compassion. If you are interested or searching for information on this sort of topic, I would recommend this book. It is an easy, informative, and entertaining read.

hmmmm. Hard to find this a true story. Will have to research this man and his credibility. But my final take on him is this: Until he fully understands the secrets of the universe without any doubt what so ever maybe he should hold off on teaching others what he thinks. Just because you died 3 times doesn't make you an expert. haha! What I mean is he doesn't really understand what happened don't start your own religion and mess everyone else up. YOU JUST DONT KNOW and leave it at that. Just tell the interesting things you remember and let others think about it. It is amazing if true and interesting but I think he is missing some stuff.

This book was ok. It was a really long drawn out book, in my opinion. It was supposed to be all about Brinkley's seven lessons he learned in heaven. Majority of the book was about his life and then at the last few chapters finally got into the lessons from heaven. It was a great book to read, though, if you are still in the beginning stages of believing, or if you are having a hard time believing in heaven.

A Gift

Death of the physical body releases the spirit back to him he gave it. Few if any die a physical death then live again to tell the story. Secrets of the Light is once such tale. It is an engrossing tale immersed in biblical truths that are spiritually discerned and not weighted down with an overabundance of scientific jargon that is difficult to understand . This book communicates intimate knowledge of NDE that cultivates understanding. This is a gift.

This was a fascinating book written by a self-proclaimed redneck who has experienced 3 near death experiences--twice being struck by lightning and another time being declared legally dead during an operation--and now teaches the information he received about the afterlife while "dead." Fascinating.

Interesting that he claims to have experienced Hell in his third Near Death Experience. That would be the first I have heard of this kind of NDE. I think its great that he concludes he has had these experiences to become a Hospice volunteer which he has now done for 30 years and helping others to pass on peacefully.

Interesting book by a man who had three near-death experiences, and what he learned from them. What I found most interesting is, it took three experiences for him to realize he should change his life. Slow learner.

If you have read his other book this might be repetitious for in the beginning.

I urge all to read the lessons and especially the last chapter.
