Lily's idea of the perfect summer doesn't include Paris, pop stars, or a sweet-sixteen at the Plaza in New York. She'd rather spend her birthday in Texas wearing jeans and riding her horse. But when your mother is the ruler of a perfume empire, anything can happen . . .

When Lily’s parents, a high-society French perfume mogul and a wealthy Texas rancher, go their separate ways, Lily has one goal in be loyal to her father and her beloved Texas, and reject the mother who left her behind.

For six weeks every summer, Lily endures mandatory visits to Manhattan where she lives in the shadow of her famous mother and super-model sister—until the summer that changes everything.

Two weeks shy of her sixteenth birthday, Lily is thrust into her mother’s latest perfume campaign and life goes down the eau de toilette.

Forced into the spotlight, and paired up with the heart-stopping pop star du jour, Lily is tempted by the very lifestyle she’s always rejected and must decide whether to bloom and find love in the world she despises, or remain loyal to everything she’s ever cherished.

Perfume Princess is a young adult novel about an almost 16 year old named Lily who is staying with her Mom and sister in New York for the summer. Her Mom is the head of a perfume and cosmetics empire and left Lily and her Dad in Texas 4 years ago. Well she didn't actually leave Lily. Lily chose to stay by her Father's side in her beloved Texas and has resented her Mom ever since.

Lily is the complete opposite of her Mom and sister Jas who love living a glamorous lifestyle complete with bodyguards and paparazzi. Instead of a typical New York summer this year however Lily is thrust into the spotlight when Jas becomes too ill to perform in a new, important ad campaign which will feature the teenage pop star everyone, including her sister, is crazy about. Lily tries to refuse but her Mom always gets her way. It becomes more complicated along the way when Lily becomes obligated to continue and she begins to possibly enjoy herself at least where Chase Donovan is concerned.

The book was well written. You really get a great sense of their lives including the celebrity and business side of things. It was very satisfying in that way. I could clearly imagine everything and it would make a good movie. Speaking of movies it reminded me of ones I used to like to watch. It is pure wish fulfillment for anyone who has ever daydreamed about meeting their celeb crush. The story works in a young adult novel. If it included adult leads there would be too many complications. Instead Lily and Chase are the sweet, likeable characters in this modern fairytale.

This is a MUST read for all teenage girls! What an adorable story! From the first chapter, I was already in love with the characters and felt as though I knew them personally. I gave the book to my 15-year-old daughter who then devoured it in two days. I can't wait until Kristina Miranda's next book comes out!

Charming and downright fun!
Lily is just an ordinary fifteen year-old girl living a simple life in Texas with her father. So, spending the summer in New York with her perfume mogul mother, Hya Laroche, and her top model sister, feels an awful lot like Cinderella with no date to the ball. She takes comfort in the fact that she will at least get to go back to Texas to spend her 16th birthday with her dad. But, even that is in jeopardy when Lily is unexpectedly thrown into the spotlight with heartthrob, Chase Donovan, the star of Laroche cosmetics new ad campaign, and her sister Jasmine’s crush. Things quickly spiral out of control for Lily. Especially, her feelings for Chase.

"I tell myself he must be a jerk. Has to be, right? But what an adorable jerk."

The author does a great job of making you feel like you're immersed in the glamour of New York and then Paris as the characters become caught up in Laroche cosmetics latest perfume campaign. In the midst of all that, we watch Lily struggle with trying to please her mother and sister and just wanting to be herself without fear of being judged.

It's the perfect book if you just want to escape for a weekend, or need a great beach read. If you're a fan of Jennifer E Smith (i.e. The Statistical Probability of Falling in Love), you’re going to love Perfume Princess. I had a hard time putting it down!

*Bonus – This book receives my “Clean Teen Fiction” seal of approval.

Ordinarily, Lily Carter would spend as little time as possible with her mother in Manhattan during the summertime. They are, after all, practically polar opposites. But this year, when the tiniest piece of bad sushi gives her sister Jas a bad case of food poisoning, Lily needs to step into her spot as the spokesperson for the launch of her mother’s new perfume Royale Princesse and share the spotlight with pop star Chase Donovan.

Perfume Princess is one of the sweetest books I’ve read in a long time. Author Kristina Miranda has done an outstanding job of creating memorable characters, breathing life into them and making them seem like people we know…or wish we did. Although Lily’s situation is like a fairy tale, the relationships she has with her family and with Chase felt very authentic to me.

This book is perfect for middle school girls, especially those drawn to glamour, but I’m well past that age and loved this super quick read!

I thought this was a cute, teeny-bopper (teenage/young adult) story. It was about teens, their relationships, their dreams - all in the context of a perfume/cosmetics company. There was drama and romance, and the end leaves you feeling good. Though reading it made me feeling a little old (at 35), it was still a cute and enjoyable read. I liked it is because I love perfume and French culture, as well as the happy, feel-good ending, and anyone who likes those things will probably like this book.

A great storyline for fairytale lovers of any age. I thoroughly enjoyed being on Lily's journey as she was catapulted to stardom and fought to stay true to her down-home roots. Travel to NYC and Paris with her, and cheer as she falls in love with popstar Chase Donovan, while figuring out how to manage the spotlight that's suddenly shining on her as the star of a new perfume campaign. A must read!!!

This is a sweet smelling "coming of age" story of a young girl finding herself. It has a charming romance to capture the princess in each of us and deals with the strengths family brings... Even broken ones.
