About the author

Ferdinand Raimund (born Ferdinand Jakob Raimann) was an Austrian comic actor and dramatist. After touring throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he became first a permanent member of the Leopoldstädter Theater and then its director.

Alongside Johann Nestroy, Raimund was one of the two most notable dramatists of the fanciful, farcial style, based around familiar folk characters, known as Alt-Wiener Volkstheater. His plays are fairy-tale comedies set in an ordered world which allows them to express aspirations to a higher realm of love and freedom.

Raimund's comedies are still frequently performed in Austria today.

Von Anfang bis Ende meisterhaft gedrechselte Szenen mit intelligentem Wortwitz und scharfen Dialogen. Die zauberhaften Elemente, Feen und Genies, sind fließend in die Handlung eingewoben und sorgen für spannende Vorausdeutungen und Interaktionen mit der Hauptfigur. Sehr lesenswertes und interessantes Drama des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts!
