Ashley Blake likes to combine a good romance with steamy love scenes. She has been reading erotic romance for years and believes a good story should have a perfect blend of both. Her goal is to write stories that stimulate your heart and your senses.
From the beginning I wasn't expecting much from this book. It was just one of these " rich playboy guy meets good girl and she changes him" kind of books. They are guilty pleasures and when they are enjoyable or well written I don't mind giving them as many stars as I think they deserve.
Nevertheless this book managed to disappoint me anyway. The problem with it (always from my point of view) is that everything feels flat and boring. I've read Harlequin novels were the characters were more believable.
Elena meets Sebastian and after a little bit of flirting (or so we are said, to me it didn't sound like flirting but like uncomfortable)they are on the track to fall in love. These two have zero chemistry, never really talked about anything but suddenly after a couple of dates, they are in love? ok, I will have to believe i because they told us themselves, but not because I felt it or saw it anywhere on the book.
When the whole " bomb" explodes, it's lame...The way she tells him about her past is unbelievable. And when valid points are made, they are forgotten 5 pages later because..." Duhhh, this is LOVE ".
The way the author choose to sort everything out so we would have the white picket fence ending was laughable...
Sebastian can be overwhelming, but sexy at the same time, "he ran a hand down my side and it followed the curve of my hip. He dipped his head toward my neck and that sexy voice caressed my ear. "I didn't see a ring Elena, I take it you're not...taken?" He's all alpha, "I want to spend time alone with you, Elena, so you're flying with me. No one will know." Elena knows how to crack the big questions, "why not? Are you ashamed of me, or something? You openly dated Sophia, didn't you? You say that you want me and we will be together, but no one can know? How do you think that makes me feel?" I agreed with Elena's reaction when she found out Sebastian's little secret. I didn't love the book but I enjoyed reading it.
Ahhh! this book had so much promise but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. To be Frank, its a 2 1/2 stars!
Ashley, you nearly had me at the start, but I have to admit it did annoy me that everything was so simple. have never read the words 'thank you're said much in a fledgling relationship. There was no real passion, no description, we were just told that Elena loves small of a sudden and Sebastian loves her after one dinner! if only all billionaires were that kick to fall head overheels! If you want a simple easy read go for it, if however you want something a bit more ... I'm afraid this one isn't the one for you.
So she leaves on bully for another? Hhmmm interesting. Don't bother with this book. It's a waste of time. Elena dumps her abusize ex only to get with a controlling S.O.B years later. The only difference between Brian (abusive ex) and Sebastian (controlling boyfriend) was Sebastian is rich and Brian wasn't.
It was ok. I really wanted more of Brian and Sophie. I can't believe Sophie just dies just like that. And then Brian goes to jail. But nope. I want the epilogue to be longer. Did she have a baby? Did she adopt Jaden? Was Jaden actually Sebastian's baby? And there's plenty more cliffhangers.
This was a very good. Book! I really enjoyed reading it! I love Ashley Blake's writing so I knew this would be awesome! I hope there will be more in this series!!
