This is a biography of academician Nikolai Vavilov (1887-1943), a biologist and geneticist. He was one of the first organizers of Soviet scientific institutes. Vavilov did not escape the fate of many extraordinary people in the he was unjustly sentenced in 1940 and died of exhaustion in the Saratov prison. Эта книга - исследовательская работа сама по себе. В ней собраны факты, мысли, воспоминания, мнения. Это срез Эпохи. Эпохи за которую берет чувство гордости и стыда одновременно.
История этого человека потрясающая. Но книга тяжелая. В ней нет хэппи энда, добро погибает, а зло торжествует. И еще грустно от того, что с тех пор так ничего и не изменилось...
