Tracie Winters is a curvy writer of romances who’s had a crush on actor Devon Moore, for 10 years. This is fine, this is the way she likes it. He keeps his gorgeousness on the screen and she gets to admire him from afar. No harm, no foul and nobody gets hurt.

Until…

Tracie writes a book. That book becomes a best seller and is optioned by a movie studio. She gets roped into writing the screenplay, in Hollywood.

Oh, was it mentioned that this book has a character that bears a striking resemblance to Devon Moore?

Or, that after a talk show interview where Tracie says Devon Moore is the actor she’d like to play the part, he gets the part?

Or that Devon Moore tracks her down to thank her for the shot?

Or that her crush might be crushing back?

Crush is a romantic novel that explores what happens when just once you get exactly what you never dared wish for.

Mark it down on the calendar, I've discovered a genre (New Adult) I:
a) didn't know existed until I read Marie's previous offering Sorry.
b) didn't know I'd like.
c) read another book in said genre and liked...again.

Crush is the story of Tracie Winters, successful author turned script writer, as one of her novels has been optioned for a film. The film stars Devon Moore...Tracie's secret "crush" as she modeled the main male character in her novel after Mr. Moore. Who just so happens to have a crush on Tracie. The story follows some trial and error as Devon tries his best to get close to Tracie on a real basis, but Tracie can't believe a Hollywood star like Devon would honestly be interested in her...not when he has his pick of any of the glamorous women in Hollywood he wants. Carla, Tracie's best friend and personal assistant gets wind of Devon's honest affection for Tracie and sets things up so Devon will have at least a fighting chance. Let us not forget Carla's twin sister Cora, still preening over the fact she stole Tracie's last boyfriend, Reggie out from under Tracie - Cora is plotting yet more hanky panky once she figures out how to get to L.A. Then there's Devon's co-star Leta, ever on the prowl when it comes to her leading men. Why should a simple screenplay scribe trump her, a gorgeous starlet out to add Devon as a notch on her bed post?
It's a stew of plotting and planning, finally coming together when Tracie realizes Devon might just be telling the truth. But there's a cliffhanger ending that will have you wanting to continue Tracie's story in Crush 2.
Tracie is likeable, and totally human in her reactions and feelings, though there are times I want to reach into the page and give her scrubbies for being short sighted and less than a member of her own fan club.
Leta is a classic bitch (yes I said it) as well as Cora. Not sure which one I detest the most.
Devon...well, let's just say I've contacted Casting, and asked for Shemar Moore to play Devon...that's all I'm saying. ;)
Engaging characters and a great story, with plot twists and turns and plot points I can't wait to see resolved in Crush 2.
