I really enjoyed this book. It was assigned to read as an assignment for my media effects course. My teacher warned us at the outset that it was designed for undergraduates, so I was wary about its relevance for me (I was in a master's program). However, the book is a wonderful introduction into media research, and Sparks is very adept at explaining studies in an interesting way.

Generally, I try to skim readings for their main points. However, Sparks' style is so interesting, I found myself very entertained by what he said. I would recommend it to anyone with even a cursory interest in media effects, but even more for people who would like learning in general.
