Got an advance copy from the author for an honest review.
At first, I did't think that I would like this book so much. I didn't get the cover and to be honest I still dont like it but at least after I read it I got it.
But boy, was I wrong! Truly, you cant judge a book by its cover!
h: I loved that Claire speaks her mind. She's did not shy away from overbearing men. She's witty, smart and lovely. I loved her character!
H: I liked it that Jonathan was not scared of his feelings. He did not beat around the bush about it unlike some of the books that I've read lately. He is H-O-T-T hot!
The story and their relationship progressed naturally. It was not forced but it was fast paced, it's not dragging.
Received this book from the author for an honest review.
Claire became interested in the crystal ball at an early age. She took every possibility to learn about it when the circus came to town. Upon befriending the Madame and learning trades she gives Claire a cryatsal ball and Claire begins to take over some of the readings. One night in London, Miss Blackstone comes to Claire for a reading. Claire overhears a conversation between Miss Blackstone and a gentleman. The gentleman has an alluring voice but Claire never sees what he looks like in the dark. When Miss Blackstone is all sweet to the stranger and becomes irate and hateful to Claire, she tells Miss Blackstone things that the snooty witch does not want to hear.
Jonathon Davies is an extremely wealthy man and Master of his lands. He is NOT interested in Miss Blackstone because of her hateful attitude but can't seem to be rid of her presence. Upon seeing Claire for the first time he declines to be introduced to her. When circumstances throw them together in the same residence, Jonathon quickly discovers her vitality, determination, and her finery personality and is immediately intrigued.
Claire has tried several times to see her future but never has it come to be. After the night hearing a strangers voice that she can not put out of her mind, she tries again. This time, what she sees leaves her reeling, questioning, and completely turned on. She sees a man and a woman in the most passionate scene that she can't even fathom. Who is he couple that she sees ? A distinguished birthmark on the lower back of the gentleman is the only characteristic available to her.
Jonathon pursues Claire but can She get her preminisions out of her head and truly fall in Love with Mr. Davies ? Will Mr. Davies be able to defy his family and marry for Love and beneath him ?
Thank you Enid for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.
I received this as a free ARC copy for an honest review. I fully enjoyed this book! It definitely had the Pride and Predigest feel to it with a little spin. I like how the book ended as well. Some just end with a brief look into what happened a few years later. This one goes quite a bit farther into the future, but has one of those trips down memory lanes where you learn a little bit more. I loved that about the book! Definitely a great book and would recommend to friends!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review... I give this historical romance 3 stars It was an interesting concept even though it shared a bit with pride and prejudice. The writing was good though it took a while to get into the story and connect with the characters. A quick okay read which basically was another Barbara Cartland type book
The story was not a bad story. It just did not demand my attention. It was a quick read with a few interesting characters, most whom I did not like at first but changed my mind as the book went on. I ended up liking the book, but it is not one that I would say is a re-read.
