A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. This is a great little reference book of photography tips for the amateur travel photographer. I love traveling and love taking photos of all the places I visit. I have a Canon DSLR camera but I will shamefully admit that I know next to nothing about the camera; I often aim for a shot, press the shoot button and hope it magically comes out good. Sometimes it does, other times, not so much.

True to its name, the book provides 45 tips on taking better photos, including how to shoot in snowy weather, taking pictures of wildlife and how to take pictures of moving traffic to create a line of light effect. It also delves into the basics of taking photographs, without going into anything too technical or confusing. Some of the tips are rather obvious and I am not too sure how helpful this book would be for people with intermediate-to-advanced photography knowledge, but the beginner amateur photographer is bound to find some useful information within. I know I certainly did and I will be taking note of the recommended aperture/ISO ratings provided for some situations.

A book of very simple tips. I was not a fan of this photography book because not only were the photos not my favorite, but the tips were very elementary and did not help me further my knowledge or inspire me in of the art of photography. I was very disappointed by this photographer's tips and wish I could return the book.

Love this little book. It's a great layout for leaving in a backpack and I find it handy for tips that I don't always think about. It's also a great reminder for what settings tend to work under what conditions. Real serious photographers won't need this but for me, someone who loves to take great shots but never got too serious about the technical aspects of photography, this is ideal.

A concise collection of tips for travelers and photographers

A great book to take with you on your travels or just to enjoy from your armchair. Photos are excellent and you should zoom in on them if you are reading on a Kindle.
