I really enjoyed this read. The story was told in an easy to follow, and simply amazing way. Learning about how the aircraft were launched and recovered from the ship was (especially the details from a pilot who was there and did it) was very cool. Overall a great WWII Naval read no overly mired in jargon and one I recommend highly.
I was given this to read by a friend as I am a great World of Warships player.
A good, solid straightforward account of an airman serving on the USS Houston, from the outbreak of war until her demise. It is very personal. The accounts of being in the water after sinking are fascinating, if not almost surreal at times. The writing style is easy and this is not a geek’s book full of obscure naval terminology. Unless I had a good reason or interest, I probably would not buy this new.
