I'm not going to scrutinize medieval folklore, but the romance of this story really doesn't translate well to modern times. It's highly debatable whether Tristan and Isolde were actually in love, or just high on the potion for the duration of the entire story. It also doesn't help that every character is really mean, petty or inconsiderate.
