Being a barmaid in the Big Apple is not that bad, but the extra things I’m forced to do for horny clients are a different story.
Jake was unlike any other men in the bar, though. He was a hot, passionate DJ who played at the nightclub, and a welcome distraction. Our love scorched — something almost too hot to touch. When I was with him, anything was possible. Until I told him we’re going to have a baby, and he just wasn’t there anymore.
Carrying something both precious and terrifying, I met Dan. He was completely hot, alarmingly charming, and genuinely caring. He took special interest in me for more than my looks and offered me a way out of the nightclub. Our lovemaking rocked me to my soul.
But just when things are looking up for me and my baby, two things happen: Jake comes back into the picture and Dan reveals that Jake is his brother...
3 Lacking Depth Stars I’m not sure how to even do this review… This book was short and slightly sweet at times but it was all over the place. The blurb drew me in and it pretty much sums up the story. Blue was a confusing character, she had her weak moments and also ones of strength but I still can’t understand her. The writing felt choppy but it wasn’t if that makes any sense. Considering the shortness of the book there is a lot of detail but Blue’s choices may be a turn off for many people. I think this had potential. Potential to be more, especially if the storyline was fleshed out more and rather than being so sympathetic towards Blue, the author should also flesh out the inner Blue rather than divulge her shitty childhood and leave it at that. Also there was no real relationship development between the characters. Any of them and that was WEIRD!!
I can’t wrap my finger around this one to write more of a review. Basically this was quick but I won’t lie and say some of the chapters never ended. The story was okay but I didn’t connect with it nor the characters, there was just something missing. Overall it was an okay read, not as quick as I thought it would be but short none the less. This was my first book from this series and considering my topsy turvy feelings towards this one I’m not sure how quick I’ll jump to another one, but if the blurb catches your eye, I implore you to check it out and let me know what you think.
This installment of the Runaway series is about Blue. The cheerful and fun bartender at Mama's nightclub. Blue's story isn't as sad or emotionally trying as Jazz's or Cocoa's but it is just as good!
When learning if Blue's pregnancy all I could think was how Mama was going to react. After what she did to Cocoa for being attacked, just how bad was Blue going to get it? I was surprised when she didnt freak out.
Anywho, after going through the 3 main girls at mamas I'm a little curious to see who the next book is about and what could happen after the events at the nightclub?
This story is about Blue, and the choices she had to make in her life. Blue kept sacrificing her own dreams and happiness in order to help others, but as time went by, she got wiser, learning that it's ok to put yourself first. She is another of Mama's girls and the one who helped Cocoa in the previous book in the series. In this one is her turn to change her life and find something more for her. She is a good example of how people get trapped by inertia and have trouble moving on, and that the right decision is not always the easy one, but that it's worth it to fight for what you want.
The formula is the same as previous books, sad childhood, troubles, being "rescued" by Mama, and then having to escape, only to be saved by a man. She was lucky that she always had someone there to help her.
Know what sucks? Getting pregnant when you were parentified by your parents and the baby daddy full on is ignoring you/claiming you baby trapped him.
Sure, getting a new job and moving in with your new boss seems great, but why the ever loving fuck does he not only have to be the baby's uncle, but also suddenly a romance option?
Girliepop, choose better. Yea, you picked the better guy in the end, but there were so many choices you could have made before then.

Book 3 in the Runaway Girl series brings Blue's story to the forefront. She too spent time @ Mama's and had various challenges she had to encounter before getting life on track.
Continues the story of bartender Blue. Her awful uncared for childhood with drunken abusive parents, who takes it on herself the responsibility of caring for her younger brother and sisters.
She ends up at Mama's as one of her girls as bartender/prostitute and so her character's story develops. She is attracted to Jake, but then Dan comes on the scene. Who would make a better father and partner is Blue's main decision, to follow her heart or head, which will rule?
Enjoyed this as with the stories of other girls, each of whom has her own story told. Generally well written and interesting enough to want to know what happens to the other girls. Here you get some satisfaction regards what happens to the Madam/Mama's with her treatment of her girls, or in other words as their pimp!
Book 3 in the (Runaway Series). This is Blue's story. Her story was less of an emotional roller coaster than the first two stories but she has issues too. This was a great read and I enjoyed her story. However, I did want to slap her when she met Dan, a loving, caring man better than Jake and then she lost her mind for 2 months before she got her act together. I thought well this is not being wiser is it!! What was great about this story is that we meet Jazz/Nate, Cocoa/Liam who meet up with Blue/Dan. We learn some interesting information about the other two couples. So that is why its good to read the stories in order. On to Pumpkin and Cream's story in book 4!
I liked Blue's story. It did seem kind of predictable, but it was still a great story. It wasn't as hard and emotionally gripping as the previous two, but it had its own substance. The little typos/extra words bugged me, but could be ignored. I'm so glad with the ending and the nightclub. I loved the reunion with the girls at the end. They all deserved happiness and they're giving it to others. I look forward to the other books. I want to know about the other girls.
I was sort of bored throughout the whole book. I contemplated giving a 2.5 stars, but decided on a 3 because I still finished without having to force myself. It was missing something for me.
Always liked Blue's character and I'm glad you wrote her story. A bit tough to read at times (emotionally) but I guess that's what makes it well writted :)
