Honeybun Heat #5

Honeybun in a Loin Cloth

Rate this book
When Godric Honeybun decides to portray a Native American in a war reenactment weekend, he doesn’t expect to run into his own, personal Indian princess on the battle field. Much to his amazement, when someone tries to kill her, he quickly discovers his inner warrior as he fights to keep her safe.

Chandini Moonglow likes reenactment weekends because they allow her to get in touch with her Native American roots. A brilliant chemist and holistic healer, Dini can’t imagine who might want her dead.

But she does know that the tall, sexy man with curly, auburn hair and an impossibly deep voice might be all that stands between her and certain death. And, for a variety of reasons, she’s really glad he’s there!

Honeybun in a Loin Cloth is another swift and sweet offering from Sam Cheever. This was a realistic and romantic adventure that kept me on the edge of my pants as I wandered through the wilderness with the couple battling the badguy, the heat and the rampant sexual chemistry. Just like all the other Honeybun brothers who had their stories before him, Godric is near perfect hero material. He’s a doctor and he has all that and the clan protectiveness as well. The heroine brings out his inner guardian as well as his outer sexual being. Dini balances absolutely with this hottie. She is strong and smart and bold. Once again the quirky and lovable secondary characters add to the enjoyment and it is great to catch up with previous couples. These Honeybun brothers are more than eye candy and I for one cannot get enough of them. If you have not read any of the previous books don’t worry you do not need to in order to enjoy this one, but I highly recommend them all. Once again Sam Cheever's witty tone and wry sense of humor provide a fantastic break from reality. I cannot wait to see what the remaining brothers and cousins get themselves up to.

Sam Cheever writes an excellent mystery novel. The twists and turns in the story keep the reader on their toes. The characters are creative and offer up a bounty of hunky men and women for the reader to immerse themselves in.
The ending is a complete revelation of the mystery which up until the very end was clouded. I thoroughly enjoyed Honeybun in a Loin Cloth but I must warn you it will make you wish for a warrior or princess of your own.

Only a Honeybun could fall in love with a woman at what should have been recreational fun

Goodrich and Dolfe Honeybun are having a great time at a Civil War re-enactment when Godric spies a beautiful woman who mysteriously entices him. When someone at the event tries to murder her, he saves her, and before long, all the brothers are embroiled in an event that has turned deadly.

Well-written, with the beloved Honrybun characters, Ms. Cheever has created another winner. Her books are always fun, enticing the reader to read "just one more chapter" before quitting for the night. If you enjoy mystery with healthy doses of humor and romance, give this book and this series a chance.

WOW!!!! Could not out this book down!!! Excitement! Intrigue! Just when you think you know what's happening...BAM! Another change of direction!!!! I know when I'm done with this series I'm going to have to re-read them again as I read at lightening speed, turning pages so fast the ends were scorched!!!! Great book! Great series!!!!

Honeybun in a lion cloth

Would love a honeybun, these brothers love and respect they have for their mother. Tugs at my heart. Another Honeybun finds himself smitten with a young lady and the adventure that comes.

Honeybun in a Loin Cloth by Sam Cheever

I bought this book for two reasons. One, after seeing a blog post at Babbling About Books, I was intrigued by the ridiculous title and cover. And two, after checking out the Goodreads page for the author Sam Cheever, I noticed she had a dachshund in her arms! Win! Kooky book, doxie lover....I just couldn't resist.

Never, in a million years, did I expect a book with the title Honeybun in a Loin Cloth to be a regular old romantic suspense novel. I've read some wacky books in my day. Books about orca shape-shifters. Bigfoot. Hairy beary guys who like honey. The last book I read with a loin cloth had a time warp, dinosaurs, and bands of marauding cavemen (Island Heat). It's never good to mislead your readers. (See post I wrote about putting hot scruffy lumberjack guys on the bookcover when the hero is really a weenie executive).

I realized fairly quickly that the kookiest thing about this book was the fact that the hero's last name is Honeybun. This is a good, solid suspense novel, with lots of twists and turns in the plot to keep you guessing about the mystery. The Honeybun family has some quirky characters, but otherwise this book has the standard fare....sexy times between hero and heroine, complex mystery, suspense, some humorous bits, too. It was too long for my liking....I like my books fairly fast-paced. But Cheever is a good writer, and the Honeybun guys are sexy, smart and loyal. The thing that really threw me off was that title. I have no idea why the author/publisher chose this title, but it's definitely not a good match for this book. So, in conclusion, I was disappointed that the book wasn't wacky. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was a well-written and sexy suspense.

Grade: B

Who knew a war reenactment could result in attempted murder?

Godric Honeybun is the doctor of the bunch. He's been going to this war reenactment for the past couple years helping his friend and surgeon Andy.

Chandini Moonglow never figured anyone would really kill her for the formula to her newly invented cream. But while attending this reenactment weekend she's figuring out that she can't shake this stalker and he will do anything to kill her.

As we've seen with previous Honeybun's, these men can find their "honeys" at any time, even during a crisis.
However, I didn't like this story as much as others because this couple was split majority of the book, yet they were already feeling love for each other. I just felt that it was a bit rushed and they never got the chance to learn about each other like the other couples in the previous books did.
I also wasn't left in suspense until the end of the story trying to figure out who the "bad guy" was in this story. I pretty much had it figured out who the bad guys were by 20% and figured out the reason about 50-60%.

Sam Cheever has written another great story in the Honeybun series and this one, covers Godric Honeybun (A Doctor) and the woman he falls for (Chandini Moonglow) who is half native American & half African American and is a chemist. They meet at a Revolutionary War reenactment and that is where everything starts (I really dislike giving too much information away about a story) In this story you will find shooting, disabled cars, drama, suspense, betrayal, kidnapping, a crazy horse (Noire), humor and tender erotic love scenes. I have followed the Honeybun series and I love the way Sam Cheever has covered each brother so far in their chosen career with their own problems and the women they fall for. This is a fantastic mystery/suspense romance and have no problem in recommended this book to people who like to read this kind of book.

Godric is the Doctor of the Honeybuns and his honey is Dini. When someone tries to kill her Dric comes to her rescue. Their story is full of mystery and suspense. Not all things are as they seem. Once again the Honeybun clan comes to the rescue when one of their own is in trouble. The clan continues to grow with the addition of each honey. This time around we are also introduced to a cousin. Filled with passion, mystery, suspense, and of course humor.
