Emma Miller has an Amish boyfriend and has a loving family, but it doesn't seem like it's "enough". She has this unknown longing for something....she just doesn't know what it is exactly. She feels out of place in her community and wonders if she will eventually leave the Amish. When an opportunity to help her relative in Charm, Ohio occurs, she jumps at the chance to experience what life outside her known world is like.
I enjoyed this quite a bit. Emma's friendship with a local "Englisher" woman, and also a budding friendship with her cousin's brother-in-law allows her to see other perspectives than her own. Events occur that show Emma sometimes what we long for makes itself known in unexpected ways. In other words, the grass isn't always greener on the other side!

It was okay, Movie way better
After watching the movie and loving it, I thought I'd read the book. It's a cute story, but it was just okay. I won't read this book again, but I'll watch the movie over and over again. I don't know why people say it's just like the movie, because it's really not. The basic plot is the same, but the "details" are all different...and it's the details I love about the movie. SPOILERS AHEAD: There are things I like better about the book (Lydia Ann is more understanding for example), but it was all completely ruined when Noah saw Andy taking advantage of Emma (nothing TOO bad, just forced a kiss...which is bad enough in my opinion) and assumed she "wanted" that and drove away. Then didn't give her a chance to explain because he avoided her. What if Andy had tried to do more? How could Noah not tell that she was trying to get away, even if she was in Englisher clothes? I could take all of the other differences and even appreciate the actual story/world the author created and not the one the screenwriter made, but after reading that part, I'll never read this book again. However, I'll watch the movie over and over again (and have lol).

3.5 stars rounded up. This is an enjoyable book with interesting characters. There are both Amish and English characters that are trying to figure out who they are and what they want out of life. Maybe I have read too many books, but I found it pretty predictable. I knew by the fifth or sixth chapter who would end up with who, and I was right. However, I would still recommend it.

Emma is a realistic character, and part of the story is also written in Kelly’s point of view as well as Emma’s sister’s Abby’s point of view, so I got to know all three of these women very well. I thought this book was a very sweet romance, a totally delightful Amish story. Readers will not be disappointed. $12.99. 314 pages.

I thought it was interesting and cool the way the author took the stories of the three women (Emma, Abby, and Kelly) and showed how each of them in their own ways were searching for their place of belonging. I especially enjoyed seeing the friendship blossom between Emma and Kelly, and liked how they could each lift the other up and help them see things from a different perspective.
The romance in this book was almost secondary it was so sweetly subtle (especially for a book in the 'Love Finds You' line), but I think I liked that. Emma and Noah built their relationship on friendship rather than having an 'insta love' kind of thing, and that's how it should be.

Emma Miller appears to be the most blessed girl in Indiana. She teaches school, enjoys the attention of a wonderful man and has a loving family. But this Amish girl has more on her mind than buggies and bonnets; she longs for adventure and wants to see the world. So when her sister Abby convinces her to spend the summer with relatives in Charm, Ohio, Emma jumps at the chance. In Charm, she meets an Englisher who has come to town to escape her chaotic life and despite their differences, the two become fast friends. Emma finds herself pulled between two worlds and her ultimate decision will impact not only herself but everyone she knows.
I finished reading this book last night at 4:30 AM. When I really like a book, I will stay up all night and read it until I’m finished with it and I really enjoyed this book. At the beginning of this book, it says that Charm, Ohio is a real town that you can visit and I think that’s really cool. I never knew that. This was a sweet Amish story. I wouldn’t want to be Amish but after reading a few Amish romances, I find their lifestyle really interesting. I would recommend this book if you like Amish romance or Amish stories.

I haven't been reading lately. I just haven't felt like it with school and everything. Plus, it seemed that every time I sat down to read, I just couldn't get into it. Apparently what I needed was some mind popcorn. This book fit the bill. I didn't know it when I borrowed it from Overdrive, but it was exactly what I needed.
Were there some things that made me roll my eyes? Sure. For one, the author couldn't seem to decide whether Noah's eyes were green or brown. Secondly, about half or three quarters of the way through the book, the author seemed to forget that the distance between Shipshewana and Charm is pretty big. It's not exactly a jaunt down the road.
In any case, the book did it's job and I've been exploring some of the other books in the series.

I loved this book, yes it was incredibly predictable but it was just so full of content.
I loved the focus going across the 3 main female leads, although it was clear that Emma was the main character, the linchpin between the worlds, I loved that Abby and Kelly also managed to have their own stories.
I have seen the movie, and all I can say is this book was so much better, I will still enjoy the movie but knowing this is what it’s adapted from, apart from the names and basic plot themes, the stories are so different.
I will 100% be reading this again in the future.

Love Finds You In Charm Ohio is a heart warming, Amish fiction novel about discovering the life you're meant to live, and trusting God to provide the right path to follow. Emma Miller has been struggling lately when she thinks about the future. She enjoys being a school teacher, and she loves her family dearly, but there's a part of her that longs for something more than the future she's facing within her Amish community. Her sister Abby definitely does not understand these feelings, and has a hard time accepting the fact that Emma could possibly feel this way when she's got the perfect guy right under her nose. When an opportunity arises for Emma to visit her cousin in Charm, Ohio to help out at her quilt store, she jumps at the chance, and soon befriends an Englisher named Kelly, who appears to be struggling with a lot of the same uncertainties that Emma is. What follows is a beautiful tale about friendship, first loves, and trusting our Heavenly Father through all the ups and down, and I thoroughly found myself enjoying this lovely tale.
While I definitely enjoyed Kelly and Emma's story the most, I enjoyed having the bits and pieces included of Abby's, as it really helped pull the whole story together. All three girls are very different, and I enjoyed the various viewpoints to the developing story. I enjoyed the fact that even though Emma is questioning where she belongs, she never questions her faith. Despite everything she's going through, God remains her number one priority, and it showcased a strength within her character to not turn from this. It was also refreshing to see the positive influence that Emma has on Kelly, and while some of Kelly's past decisions do have a negative influence on Emma, overall Kelly's more influenced by Emma's conservative lifestyle than the other way around.
While this was my first time reading a book by Annalisa Daughety, it definitely won't be my last. I loved her well developed characters, the vivid setting, and the many tenderhearted moments that left me with a big smile on my face. And I can't fail to mention just how much I loved the budding relationship between Emma and Noah. It was definitely swoon worthy, and completely clean which is also a big plus in my eyes.

A very sweet story about the challenges and victories that come with finding your place in this world. This book was adapted for film and while the two stories share many similarities, the stories are more different than one might imagine. I loved the movie and it was nice to have people "in mind" as I read the book. I highly recommend both versions!

A nice story about staying true to yourself and returning to the source of your truth which in this book was Jesus. It also gave a positive message about interfaith and intercultural friendships and how the things that make us different can bring us closer together within the wider scope of humanity.

While being an avid lover of Amish fiction, I haven't read much outside of Beverly Lewis' books, so I was glad to read this sweet Amish story as part of the Love Finds You series :) I enjoyed watching the story unfold through the eyes of Amish sisters Emma and Abby and Englisher friend Kelly.

Cute. A bit of a slower read. Struggled keeping interest, until the last few chapters where it picked up. More detail I feel than the movie which I happened to see first - then I realized there was a book and I instantly planned on reading said book someday. Overall it is a cute book, though I feel not as unique as some others I have read.

I really enjoyed this book. I love Amish fiction. I think they lead such a fascinating lifestyle. This book is sweet and romantic. It is nice to enjoy a love story where the focus is on people getting to know each other as friends and watching things blossom into something beautiful.

This book is a delightful read. I love how the author spins the story through the eyes of three different characters. "Love Finds You In Charm Ohio" isn't just a fun story; it also teaches the importance of staying true to yourself and following God's plan for your life.

This story is so heartwarming. I loved Emma's character and how she just wanted to know more about the world. By the end of the book, I was in tears. It was one of the sweetest stories yet!

Very slow and did not sound authentic. I have never heard anyone say the words "Well. I must say" twice in a conversation. It was all too slow and uninteresting for me.

kinda had a hard time with this one because it was talking about three people all at the same time. I ended up lost and hard to start over. I actually did get the hang of it though.
