Ghostwriting is the single most lucrative way to monetize your talents as a writer. Over the past 6 years, Nicolas Cole has ghostwritten for more than 300 different industry leaders, C-Suite executives, founders of Silicon Valley startups, venture capitalists, and even Olympic athletes, Grammy-winning musicians, and New York Times bestselling authors. In 2017, Cole founded the first ghostwriting agency specializing in opinion articles online, and to date has ghostwritten more than 3,000 articles (under other people’s names). At its height, Cole’s ghostwriting agency, Digital Press, had more than 80 concurrent clients, employed over 20 writers & editors, and was generating several million dollars in annual revenue. And in The Art & Business of Ghostwriting , he explains exactly how he did it—so you can start making money as a Premium Ghostwriter, too. “Ghostwriting paid me to learn, paid me to practice my craft, and paid me to build a billion-dollar network for myself," says Cole. "Ghostwriting changed my life—and it can change yours, too." So, what are you waiting for? There has never been a better time in history to earn a living as a writer. All you have to do is call yourself a Premium Ghostwriter.
I am more than sorry I wasted my time and money on this book.
There is nothing here that you don't know already. Worse, nothing you could possibly care about knowing if you plan to be a ghostwriter.
This may even be worse than the other book I read by this author: "19 tiny habits that lead to huge results." I don't know why I started this one after reading that one--but I did.
My email copywriting business was a mess before I read this book. For 3 months, I frantically sent cold emails and DMs to all types of brands-- haircare, skincare, stationery, bookstores, food/restaurant, and personal brands. Initially I sent custom samples to each brand but soon degraded to sending generic messages because a personalized message for every niche overwhelmed me.
I found this book, eager to hear the secrets on how to make my business work. I headed straight to the chapter on how to get clients as a ghostwriter. I found so much value in that section that I had to devour the rest of the book. Cole's ideas were refreshing and eliminated my scarcity mindset and self doubt. He washes away your worries about how to niche down, price your services, approach "sales" calls, and get clients with simple frameworks.
I finished the book a few days ago and so far I already clarified my niche and am taking a long-term approach by digging deep into client research to send irresistible offers. The Art and Business of Ghostwriting injected purpose and fun back into building my business!
As a complete beginner in the ghostwriting world, I came up to Cole's book with an open mind, just to find that this is more like a business/sales book, rather than ghostwriting itself. And that is a good thing.
The idea beneath this book is not learning a skill just for you to go work for somebody else, just for you to "improve" your worker profile. No, the idea beneath this book is that ghostwriting is a feasible 1-person business opportunity, and this idea is successfully embedded through the whole book. This is what, in the end, made the book credible for me. I come from a sales background and there are several things I already knew or heard about, but installing those things into the ghostwriting niche frame is something that Nicolas Cole does pretty well. This is a book full of value, specifically for people thinking on getting into ghostwriting or that are stuck with their career for any reason.
Finally, you can tell this is a book written by a true author. It's easy to read, the arguments develop smoothly and the whole book gives the sense of being a fairly coherent and compelling unit.
Superb. Nic Cole is a force to be reckoned with. As he says, this is more a manual on how to be a successful Solopreneur. He just uses Ghostwriting as a vehicle to deliver all these business learnings.
If you're going into business for yourself—whether that's as a ghostwriter or otherwise—read this book. It's all killer, no filler.
The chapters Cole wrote are a literal step by step guide to building your career as a ghostwriter but also for anyone in any industry.
I have 10 years of experience in the health industry - 5 of which were as a solopreneur. For anybody who would ask me for advice about building a solo career, I would point to Cole's book.
Nicolas is a legend. I have purchased his books after taking part to his online courses, and I must say they deliver excellent value even though I am familiar with most of the content.
Nicolas and Dickie are doing something amazing, and I encourage everyone to attend their courses.
The most amazing book I have read in awhile. The pages just flows by so amazingly he has categorised the information from start to end. I wish i could have read this sooner. I am gonna explore more of his books.
