An artifact many have died for. An adventure that could change the world. In the heart of London's elite social scene, Madelyn Fox has obtained an ancient artifact that could change humanity's view of science, religion and mankind. But if she shares her discovery with the wrong person ... For centuries, the full wealth of the St. Germain family has been behind the protection of a secret so immense, so powerful, not even Solomon St. Germain himself knows the extent of it. A descendant of the world's most famous Egyptologist, Nicholas Alexander Carter doesn't have to guess what Mady knows-or what she has-because he also possesses a rare piece of this archeological puzzle. Mercilessly tracked by a terrifying old enemy, the three unite in an explosive chase through gritty streets, marble estates and underground bastions as their treasure trove of knowledge falters on the edge of disclosure-or destruction.
Ugh - this had such good potential and it really never reaches it. I loved the concept behind this story, but the writing is mediocre at best with a lot more tell than show. The character development seems to sort of happen off screen and we're really just kind of expected to make some leaps in assumptions about how Madelyn and Nicholas feel about each other. There was so much more I wanted out of this story. I'm kind of happy that the sequel doesn't seem to have ever been written as I don't feel obligated then to find out what would have happened next.
I thought this would be more of a historical fiction, but it turned into something more fantastic (as in fantasy). The story was ok and would have been rated 2 stars, but the message in the last 8% of the book (aka the solution to the mystery that drives the story) is what bumped it up an additional star.
It had an interesting premise involving an archaeological mystery, lost relics and aliens. While it was a decent, quick read, it didn't have anything overly original and the last couple chapters were kind of boring.
I have to divulge that Dana Lyons is a fellow author at Black Lyon Publishing. That having been said The ROSETTA COIN is a great story and excellently written. Anthropologist Madelyn Fox(Mady)and Nicholas Alexander Carter, wealthy great-nephew of the renown Egyptologist Howard Carter are drawn to each other in a dangerous liaison. Both have been entrusted with ancient gold coins that hold a special meaning for mankind. Unfortunately there are forces that very much want the meaning and history of the coins and their makers, along with the power, to themselves. These murderous fanatics will stop at nothing to obtain the secrets. Secrets protected for generations by a string of devoted guardians reaching to the St. Germaine family of the present day. Solomon St. Germaine, the patriarch, despite every precaution possible is faced with the loss of the sacred covenant. He must seek strong and knowledgeable assistance amongst a trusted few - but who?
Surprised there are no reviews on GR for this book, The Rosetta Stone is a well written story and it is a medium paced story. Nicholas Carter ( nephew of the King Tut Carter) and Mady Fox, both have ancient gold coins that have an unknown language on one side of the coin; the other side has Egyptian or Sumerian symbols on it.
There is one more coin that eventually shows up and it has a Hebrew side and the unknown language on the other. These coins have been passed down to keepers for thousands of years--waiting for the correct development time of the Earth. Now is the time, and what wondrous things await all inhabitants of the earth,
A fast, good archaeological read. The sequel is on Amazon and that is my next venture into the future.
All of the above are contained with The Rosetta Coin. Mady has an ancient coin inherited from her mother after her death. Carter also has a ancient coin he inherited. A chance meeting at the home of her Godfather lead them on the adventure of their life .... and almost their death.
Two groups are following them. Who are they? Good or evil? Solomon St. Germain is one of those following Madi and Carter. He and his cousin, Henri, come to their rescue. And yes, Solomon also has an ancient coin. His family have been protecting the "secret" since the time of King Solomon.
It is a journey of understanding, trusting, fear, strength and faith.
This book has it all: characters that are believable, good versus evil, historical references, and a storyline with an interesting and hopeful twist. The author has the ability to describe details of the environment and references to archeological mysteries that make it easy for the reader to visualize. She weaves past and present history seamlessly so that the storyline is smooth and easy to follow. This was a great quick read. I look forward to seeing how the final events in this book play out in future sequels.
This one just seemed like it went on and on. The concept was unique to what I've seen. Something similar to Dan Brown but it was very anti climactic and then the last couple of chapters were over explained.
Mady is an archaeologist who comes upon an ancient coin which is desired by a fabulously wealthy family. She meets and becomes involved with Nicholas Carter( yes those Carter's-King Tut fame) and together they work to unravel the clues while escaping people bent on their destruction.
