I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review. Posted below is my review as seen on stephaniesbookreports.blogspot.com

Let me start by saying abuse of any kind is nothing anyone should put up with. If you're in a physically or verbally abusive relationship you are better than what your significant other is telling you and you need to believe in yourself enough to get out and move on. The abuser needs help. But like any other individual with issues, unless they're willing to deal with why they're abusive, there's no changing them. Please know there are people willing to help you when you're ready to help yourself and your children, if you have them. Links will be posted at the end.

OK....so...A Lucky Second Chance is the debut book of author Nickie Seidler. Nickie has done a great job with giving an ugly social issue it's due in this novel. Emma Dunn, the female lead, came to her senses one day after her, then fiance, beat her within an inch of no returning. She fled and returned home to live with her brother until she could get her feet "on the ground." Soon after her move and new job, she meets Nathan (Nate) Weber. She has such a strong feeling of safety and attraction when she's around Nate.

Like most individuals, they both have their issues. Emma struggles with telling or not telling Nate about her ex and the way he treated her. After a few instances she finds she has to tell Nate in order to keep herself and him safe.

Nate has some cleaning to do himself. His ex tries to worm her way back to Nate and it makes Emma doubt his love for her.
This book has a lot of social no no's....abuse, breaking & entering, fraud, theft, attempted murder. Can Emma and Nate trust each other and their love for one another? Check out A Lucky Second Chance and see!

This is the first negative review I have EVER written. I am a firm believer in "If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it all", bu this book....Just fell SO short. So it's about this girl that leaves her abusive Fiancee and moves back home and in with her brother. After only being home about a week she meets "Mr Wonderful" who is of course a billionaire. Same story that we all love. I was thinking Hello another Fifty Shades because lets face it that was HOTT. But No this was nothing like Fifty Shades not even close. So much was wrong. First off you leave an abusive fiancee, someone breaks into your house steals nothing and you don't think the two are related? UMMM HELLLOOO red neon sign here. Then you find a peeping not once no but twice in the same day once when you are half naked and you don't find that alarming? O it just happens. And then you are dating this guy for like 6 months and you don't have sex? 6 MONTHS? Yea not happening in real life. and Mr. Wonderful I had such high hopes for him because we all love that steam sexy alpha male don't we? Not in this book. So the weekend he proposes he gets an email with pics and his girl with some guy named one of her half naked and he just says Hey it was some guy named Jason so I just payed him 3 hundred-thousand dollars to go away? NO NO NO. NO. So wrong. After that scene I put the book down and just couldn't finish it.

ARC provided by author for an honest review!

Good debut novel. I like that fact that Nickie decided to tackle an issue that doesn't much attention in our genre. Physical abuse should in no way, shape, or form, ever be tolerated. PERIOD!

Emma Dunn, moved to FL to be with her fiance, even though her meddling mother didn't want her to. When she up and leaves him, due to his physical abuse, she moves back home to Chicago to live with her brother and put the pieces of her broken life back together.

She quickly meets Nate Weber, and what a hottie he was. Nate helps Emma move on, and while she is embarrassed about her previous situation, she knows that rehashing it will only help them both. Nate doesn't come without baggage himself, and at times, I found myself wondering if these two would ever wade through such murky waters.

It was a nice story, with a powerful message. I only wish Emma had take more time for herself and that her impending relationship with Nate would have slowed down. I thought she jumped in a bit quick. Other than that, this was a solid debut from Nickie and the best part is.... NO CLIFFHANGER! :)

What a book! I really enjoyed this book and its characters all of them. The one thing that totally reached out and touched my heart was the truth about domestic violence.

Emma is such a wonderful person whom has gone through hell and back. She moves back home and in with her brother. She doesn't share much with others. She lives in fear and worry. She meets sweet loving Nate and sexy to top it off. Nate will do anything to protect her but she is always hiding her past and what she is ashamed of. She sees her friend Sam going through the same thing she did before returning home and when they try to intervene Sam talks away her friendship. As Emma and Nate carry on with there life the past catches up with her. Will Emma be able to handle what happens when Nate finds out and can Nate deal with such a tragic past she has hidden.

This book makes you sad, angry, laugh and filled with joy. You learn what its like for people who live on the other side of domestic violence and what it takes to heal! So, now stop reading and go grab this book its a must have.

Must've read a different book than some of the other readers. Described by some as hot? Huh, not so much. Book was all over the place. Felt as if it was written by a teenager for teenagers. Main character was weak and whiny. Massive descriptions about her long blonde hair and how it was styled. References to thanking God? Pregnancy -- then a gloss over of miscarriage, wedding...

"When I looked in the mirror, I saw a broken woman."

The way "A Lucky Second Chance" begins, pretty much sets the pace for the entire book. And let me tell you, it's a fast one full of secrets and plot twists.

The female lead character, Emma Dunn, is basically escaping from the sad reality her life had become. Leaving everything behind in Florida, she heads back home to Chicago, where her very hot and successful brother, Kevin (whom I had a crush on.. just saying) was going to help her out until she got back on her feet.

On her way to rebuilding her life back, Emma starts a new job Kevin got her. One afternoon, on her way out from work, she runs into (like, literally), Nathan Webber. Instantly, she felt a connection towards him and of course, an insane attraction. But then, with a hot guy like Nate? Who wouldn't? *wink*
A few events later, Emma and Nate begin the adventure they call a relationship.. because yeah, it's anything but boring.
"I'm just not used to somebody loving me like you do. I'm used to a whole different love that I figured out was never real."

Nate is a very romantic guy, always gentle and patient with Emma. You can tell right away that their feelings are very deep and genuine and that they really get to know each other.
"You're like an angel to me. You're the best thing that's come into my life."

"To the moon and back. I love you." - Nate

"My love for you is unconditional, Emma. You are my one and only true love."

"... my best friend, my lover, my soulmate, my everything." - Emma

Just when you think things are okay and slowing down in the book, queue the mini plot twist. But hey, what can you expect when they both have their share of secrets?

"A Lucky Second Chance" is the type of book that has a lot of things going on. There isn't just "one problem" or "one bad guy," but several. To me, this is something that makes the general story line quite interesting. So yes, this is a good book.
"This just proved to me that anybody could have anything in life; you just need a lucky second chance."

I like books that deals with social issues, especially when it's as sensitive and is not given that much attention as domestic violence.

I'd admit that I had a hard time reading through the pages at first with elaborate descriptions and narrations. I struggled a bit and finally adjusted with the pacing of the book. Good thing, I kept on going and opted to give it a chance, because I really want to know what will happen to Emma. The struggle was worth it.

I couldn't say I like Emma at first. But coming out from any bad and abusive relationship can make anyone insecure, emotional and a little bit paranoid. Trust is hard to come by especially when it has been previously shattered by someone you never expected. Nevertheless, readers will see how her character evolves as the story goes, how she gave love and life a second chance and learned to trust her heart to someone again.

Nate, on the other hand, is her Mr. Wonderful and her knight and shining armor. At first I thought, it was a bit fast since she just came out from a bad relationship. But Nate is a type of guy you can easily fall in love with. There are times in the book when I couldn't help but wonder if Emma will be going through the same thing again since Nate has his 'cranky moments'. But then, most of the time, he shows the he loves Emma and is willing to do anything and everything to make her happy.

And Kevin, I love this guy! He reminds me of my brother who is ready to lend an hand (with no questions asked) when we need it the most. Despite being a bachelor (and he must've need his privacy), he made a room for her, and allowed her to stay with him until she was back on her feet. Emma is lucky to have him.

Despite the pacing, I can't believe that all these things happened in the span of one year. It's almost a lot to take in with all of these things happening between Emma and Nate, as well as their own families. It was definitely one heck of a journey.

Wrapping it all up, A Lucky Second Chance is a story of a woman who is given a second chance to start in life after the hell she has been through. The plot was great, but the pacing and the elaborate narratives may need a little work. Still, it was still worth the read, just be patient :).

Emma – Poor Emma, she just wanted to show her family she could build her own path in life and do what she wanted to do. After moving to Florida and closing them all out she ends up needing them more than she thought. Thanks to her brother who takes her in after she finds the strength to leave an abusive relationship. Almost from the moment she starts her new life she is being swept off her feet.

Nathan – A wonderful man who truly knows how to care for a woman, but comes with a large bank account. He has been burned in the past and hesitates to let Emma in completely. Once he realizes their love is for real he starts to open up.
Although this story has hints of a few that have come before it the characters are certainly different. I really loved the connection that Emma and Nathan share from early on. The internal battle that Emma has with whether or not Nathan likes her at first is one just about everyone can relate to, however after he “saves” her for the third time he shows her how he is feeling.
One of the other parts of this story that I really loved was the connection between Emma and her older brother. Maybe it is because I also have an older brother and can relate to the protectiveness of the brother, sister relationship. I found it heartwarming that Kevin (Emma’s brother) was the one to come to her rescue and the one she trusted with her story and her fear.
“A Lucky Second Chance” is a great combination of love, and romance, as well as suspense. There are people out there who are determined to not let this couple be, and they will struggle to overcome this together. Will their love be enough? This a great start for young up and coming author, since this is Nickie Seidler’s 1st book
I give “A Lucky Second Chance” a 4 out of 5 stars, what can I say I am a sucker for a book with suspense and love 

So, I recently finished A Lucky Second Chance by author Nickie Seidler and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A Lucky Second Chance had a good story line and plot that kept me engaged throughout the story and throw in a little suspense and romance and you have yourself a good debut novel. It was well written and an interesting read.

I enjoyed Emma’s character but sometimes wanted to reach through the novel and shake her a bit. I found myself wondering with this book and scratching my head – like hmm what is it that Emma is running from? Oh and then BAM there it was and I was like – Oh no! No one should ever be abused so the fact that Emma had to endure so much abuse at the hands of her ex was painful to read. The author did a great job portraying Emma’s feelings and emotions throughout the story.

Oh then enter swoon-worthy Nathan who was perfect in every way or was he? Hmm, Nathan seemed to have some things in his past that would later test the relationship of Emma and his. I did find it a little too fast for these two to “fall” for each other – it was almost instant and that just didn’t seem realistic to me. Oh and Emma let Nathan in pretty quickly in my terms- I mean if I had suffered the abuse she did I would be VERY cautious of who I let into my life and my bed. I’m not sure I would be able to trust another man – if I was Emma for a very long time. Overall it was a good story and I look forward to reading more from this author! Happy Reading! xoxo

“Are you stalking me?” I asked, trying to lighten the mood. Hell, I hope he’s stalking me; he can stalk me any day!

“My pleasure, Emma, it was my mistake. I should have been paying more attention. I hope you’re not hurt.”
If I pretend to be hurt, will he kiss it and make it feel better? I needed to focus.

Looking down at his hand, I saw no wedding band. My eyes lit up, and a satisfied smile forced its way out from deep within me. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Holy hell, this guy can’t be real. This feeling can’t be real. What am I doing? Say something!

Holy shit. This is intense. He thought about me! Oh my god, he thought about me. My eyes lit up with excitement. Oh my god, where did I put his business card? Shit. I got out of bed fiercely and started to search my room inside and out. No, this couldn’t be happening. Where was it?

A Lucky Second Chance is Nickie’s debut novel and I do have to admit she did a pretty good job with this book. It was sweet read and I hardly ever wanted to put the book down, unless I really had to get back to that thing they call “LIFE”.

The book’s main characters are Emma and Nathan. There were moments in the book where I wanted to knock some sense into Emma, I mean how can a peeping Tom not be something to be worried about? And then there were also moments where you kind of felt bad for her. Then there is Nathan, sweet, sweet Nathan Weber. There were many times in the book where I caught myself wondering where I could find a man like Nathan. I think I have added him to my book-boyfriend list.

Emma has a great family in the book too. I loved the relationship that Emma had with her big brother Kevin. He was just the best brother in the whole world and would do anything to help Emma out. Her mother would probably have been the character I would have liked the least in the whole book.

One thing I might have changed with the book is the timing. It sometimes felt like the book was moving too fast and I would have saved the Jason (Emma’s ex fiance) part of the story for the ending of the book. After Emma’s and Jason’s story was “over” it kind of felt like the “thrill” of the story was gone. It kept me wondering how Nickie would continue the story. She did do a good job of picking up the story and giving it a happy ending.

This book was beyond AMAZING! I don't have words for how I felt about this book. I have never been physically abused myself but there are so many other kinds of abuse out there and it doesn't always just come from the person you are dating or married to. I absolutely loved the end of this book when he surprises her for the last time and I really hope to hear that there will be a book two because I want to know what happens next.

I while things happen really fast between all of the characters I know for a fact that it isn't actually all that outlandish. I was sucked into this book by all of the both good and bad luck these characters face. In the end these characters have faced so much and in only a short year. I am still processing what all happened in some parts.

I love that Nickie has written this book in a way that tells women not to put up with it. Seek help. Don't do anything rash and never go back to your abuser. Just plain get out and stay out. There are examples throughout the book of different things that could end up happening and it is just a great book. Nobody deserves to be abused whether it is mentally, emotionally or physically.

Thank you Nickie for writing such a great book and showing these points! It is Amazing and I read it in a day after finishing another book. Great job!

My Thoughts: I love a good stand alone! This is one of those! A stand alone should leave nothing out and not make you wonder and Nickie does a great job with this. I think there were just enough twists and turns or ups and downs however you want to say it to make you want to know what is going to happen next. The book moves freely and you start to fall in love with Emma and Nathan.
What I liked about Emma is that she was strong enough to get herself out of a bad situation! She is all about getting herself back together and her life back on track. You can see her trying her hardest no matter what life throws at her, she tries to get right back on her feet.

Nathan is the prince charming that every girl dreams of! He seems to always know the right place and time for everything that happens. He loves Emma from the start and wants to do anything that help her in everything. When his past comes back to smack him in the face he faces it head on and will do anything to prove to himself and anyone else that there is nothing there.
When you read this book I believe you will see that Nickie did a great job showing you that not every book needs to be a series and a stand alone in a romance book can work! Great job Nickie!!

First off this debut novel was a really good story. This story is about Emma moving and going outside of the plan her parents had for her and moving away from Chicago to FL. There she gets a great job, the perfect boyfriend, and gets engaged. Her perfect life wasn't so perfect when her boyfriend/fiance becomes abusive and addicted to drugs and alcohol. She escapes and runs home to start fresh.

Then enters Nathan Webber, a higher up executive with Crate International. With his own share of baggage, A Lucky Second Chance is their second chance at happiness. It's a bumpy ride and seriously at times I did want to strangle Emma a bit. She complained and would freak out when Nate wouldn't be open with her, but she hid a lot of her own stuff from him. How is that fair? He only ever wanted to listen to her and she kept a lot of stuff and acted like she was completely innocent when it came out. Other than that it was a really good story!

I recently found author Nickie Seidler and haven't stopped reading her since. I am almost done with all of her current books and am anxiously awaiting new ones to come out! I love her writing style, her technique and her attention to detail! She writes amazing stories with characters that are relatable, fun and could be anyone's best friend just by the way in which Nickie describes them. I enjoy the plots, the flow of the story and the way that the author leaves the reader no choice but to become invested in the characters and the book. Each character ends the book as a friend, no matter what the reader wants them to be. I highly recommend that you read a book by Nickie, it doesn't matter which one, because you will want to devour them all....the only time you will be left unhappy is when you have finished all of her books. Add this one and all of the others to your TBR list, you won't be disappointed in any of them!

I recently read "A Lucky Second Chance" and I adored it...

Nickie Seidler you sucked me in.

Nate and Emma are just the sweetest together, the chemistry from the start was so unbelievably adorable. This book had some pretty amazing scenes and really great love. After some really awful times in life Emma really does all she can to get her happy ending. Nickies writing style is so different then I'm used to, and I really fell in love with it. There were many twists and turns but it all came together beautifully. I think she did a great job pulling it together the way she did with the deep issues that were brought up. I absolutely give this book 4 solid stars because she did a very great job. only thing I can complain about was Emma's cattyness lol ;) great job Nickie. Will read whatever you write.

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars. I loved the plot of the book and fell in love with the characters. I felt that the love story between Nate and Emma moved a little quickly for me but the suspense and mystery involved with some of the other characters was great. Even though their love story was short, you could feel the love that Nate and Emma had for one another by their actions and words to each other. I loved that the book had a mystery aspect to it to keep it interesting and it only added to the theme of the other characters. I'd recommend this book to anyone, but be warned if you're expecting really steamy sex scenes this is not that book.

I'm not even going to waste my time with a review. I gave up on it after I read 9% of the book. I couldn't handle it anymore. The only thing I'm glad is that I got this book for free, 'cause I wouldn't spend a dime on this.

I give it 2 stars because the abusive relationship thing was a good idea, too bad it was surrounded by a whole lot of nothing interesting.

I feel guilty for giving such a bad review, but is my honest opinion. I hope the author works a lot harder next time to define the characters in the story, and I hope she learns how to express correctly what the character is thinking and what is important to say and what not.

I tried to finish this book as I like to finish an entire book to see if they usually get better but I couldn't do it. I made it to about 40% and then started skimming paragraphs. I got to almost 60% and couldn't read anymore. I agree with a lot of the reviews that it was all over the place. The main character was whiny and there was way too much about how she styled her beautiful blonde hair and what she was wearing. The cheesy lines made me roll my eyes. I couldn't believe how stupid she was. Someone breaks into your house and then you have a peeping tom and you dont even tell the police about your abusive ex? Really??

I LOVED this book! I could not put it down! You always wanted to know what was going to happen next! It pulled you in and made you want more! Hell, I wish there was more! Even though this is a stand alone with a HEA I wish she would have kept going!

It always helps to fall in love with a book when there is a DREAMY guy in it! Oh man, Nathan was it too! He swept me off my feet!

If you are looking for a book with heartache, happiness, and some angst this is the book! You will be missing out if you don't get this book! It has everything!

The book made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster ride. There was a lot going on. It had all the aspects of a good book, but it was hard to feel the connection between the main characters, Nate and Emma. The sex scenes could have used some improvements. In one scene, Nate says he is going to go all 50 on Emma, but aside from a slightly steamy shower scene, I'd say the book was fairly tame. The title represents the books theme very well. The characters are given second chances at life, love, and friendship. Despite it all, I was still rooting for the characters, and enjoyed their journey.

The premise was promising, but the poor writing and awkward phrasing along with a plot line that was all over the place made this a difficult read. A good editor is needed and maybe an outline to keep the conflicts more focused. Way too many issues for one person to encounter in one book. The characters moved back and forth from mature adults to whiney juveniles from page to page, so they were difficult to like or care about. The dialogue interspersed with Emma's "thoughts" was annoying. Let the characters talk to each other to move the action along.

Spoilers*******Awesome story kept my attention from the very beginning. Although I wished there were more explanation to some parts, that left me wondering, like did Nate and Emma get together with jake? What happen at their meeting? Emma's wedding how it went? When it happen? emma's miscarriage? Did Emma ever told her parents about the abuse from Jason? for me some part felt rush an others not elaborated enough. Other than that love it hope their story continues or may be Kevin's story.

Don't get me wrong, I liked this book...BUT I wanted to LOVE it. Sadly, I did not. I liked Emma a lot, I found her strong and very self confident by the end. She was able to get through her past and move on. However I did not like Nathan. I always though he was hiding something from Emma (even up until the end) I also felt that Nate was very controlling with her. I found that confusing because, wasnt that what she was escaping from when she found Nathan???

I really enjoyed this book! It started a little slow to me, but once i got past the first couple of pages it really started to get good. I'm glad Nickie was able to shed light on the issue of domestic violence. While it was hard to read about, I think it was brave and necessary. Nickie is so talented and I can't wait to read her next book. <3

I really enjoyed the story line and the characters. It was a sweet story but definitely tied in emotion. Good combo of drama, romance and some chuckles. Thought the ending could've been elaborated on more or had an epilogue. But it was very cute! Go pick up A Lucky Second Chance to swoon over Nathan and Emma!

a really great read, with a lot of substance, not just all feel good fluff. abuse is a subject that often gets swept under the rug. I think lucky second chance gives a good look at the after affects of abuse. but at the same time it was a great love story, showing how things can work out.

This book was about a woman who was abused by her fiancée who decided enough was enough. She got out and returned home. She met the guy of her dreams and they took it very slow. Kinda of like that for once. Unfortunately her fiancée decided she wanted him back.
