I have always thought that eating whole grains was part of a healthy diet, but after reading Wheat Belly ...in 30 Minutes, the condensed version of Dr. William Davis' Wheat Belly , I am reconsidering this common belief. Looking down at my belly that has increased through the years, even though I exercise and eat a healthy diet, I know that I need something else. Eliminating wheat from my diet, according to Dr. Davis, may be the lifestyle change I need. The book is packed with valuable information and suggestions on how to do without wheat and get rid of that stubborn belly fat. It is organized into easy to read chapters and also makes for a good reference book to put on your kitchen shelf or bedside nightstand. Wheat Belly...in 30 Minutes tells us that it may not be a beer gut you have, it just may be a wheat belly.

Great read

Nice short book, but definitely to the point. As an NP myself I have felt that the “additives” to breads and pastas is overlooked in the guidelines for health. Wheat wound be great in a more “pure form”. The book lays things out to explain well why breads and wheat is an issue. Even if you can’t totally get away from breads and wheats, if you can reduce it to low levels you will see benefits.

Quick and concise. This affirms how wheat products make me feel. The more I eat, the more I crave, the more I'm hungry. Without them, I'm surprised by how much less I eat naturally, without thinking about it, and the less bloated I feel. I even sleep better, something I desperately need.

Oh dear... so all of that Whole Wheat bread, Shredded Wheat and Whole Wheat pasta I have been eating is actually BAD for me? WHAT! I must say that all of these different diet books makes it extremely difficult to know what the heck I should be eating for a healthy diet. I'm thinking I should chuck them all out of the window and just eat ice cream like I want to. :)

Seriously, I guess I'm going to stick with the philosophy "Everything in moderation"... because there is NO WAY I am not going to have a bun with my (occasional) burger.

NOTE: I completely agree with the premise that if you cut the wheat (and starches) from your diet, you will lose weight. However, I read this summary with an eye toward establishing a long term healthy way of eating, and the thought of never again eating another plate of pasta makes me want to cry! A little voice in my head is whispering "What if Dr. Davis is WRONG?"

Dr. William Davis gives all of us diet conscious folks one of the best diet books of it's kind on the market today. His format starts with an 'overview'. proceeds with concise and uncluttered observations from the Doc himself, and then wraps up with 'key points' specific to each chapter. This is so easy to read, understand and apply, that it is a diet book instant classic! The case is simple: In order to produce greater yields science altered the 'good wheat' from our grandparents time, and created a genetic 'Wheat Belly' monster in our time. Through the elimination of this genetically altered wheat, belly fat, brain function, and a whole list of additional heath issues, dissolve. It all makes good sense. Best of all, the 'key points' allow direct information without plodding through page after page as I've done with other such books. This book gets it done!

What an amazing book! This quick summary of Dr. William Davis’s “Wheat Belly” has changed my entire outlook on my diet and my clearly addictive love of wheat. I was able to directly relate specific health and beauty issues back to wheat in a way that I had never even contemplated, nor ever knew to do so. I was under the assumption that the whole wheat pasta, bread and other gluten loaded products that I love so much were healthy and absolutely necessary for me to be a healthier person. This science based summary has given me a complete shift in my thinking regarding my health and diet and I can’t wait to dive further into the subject with the full length book.

The summary version of Dr. William Davis's "Wheat Belly" diet book is a concise, thoughtful, informative resource. There's a great deal of writing out there about rethinking our diet's relationship with carbohydrates, much of it befuddling (raise your hand if you couldn't make sense of the carbohydrates bad/whole grain vital conundrum). The summary of Wheat Belly is sky clearing in it's ease of read and comprehension. And while the summary format used to give me the (albeit uninformed) impression of something like a guilty pleasure, ones like this read like all pleasure and no guilt. When's the last time reading a diet book made you feel like that?

First diet book to really get my attention!
The 30 Minute Summary of Wheat Belly was a new experience for me. I generally don’t read diet books, but this one caught my attention immediately. There were many times that my mouth hung open in awe or disgust of what is being done to our food. It’s hard to believe that something so yummy can be so bad for us. However, anyone wanting to lose weight or control physical ailments (surprisingly high number of things), this book is a MUST READ!

Concise review & got the main points across. The wheat theory is still just a theory but I am compelled enough to try a 30 day wheat free challenge.
