The relationship between Kaya and the Director continues from book 1. While I know that the culture differences between women in Japan and in the US is different, especially in terms of the role of Secretary - I found myself chafing a bit against Kaya's selfless acts and began to wonder if she was becoming nothing but a doormat.
No. She's not a doormat, she's just a very loyal, dedicated and obstinate woman. The Director doesn't know what he has just yet.
Oh as a note - this book may be a bit too graphic for those who aren't used to sex in their Mangas. It's not a "hentai" but there are certain scenes in here that are not suitable for small children - this is a 'josei' book and geared toward women who are 18 - 30.

Is Kaya a bit of a doormat? Oh absolutely. And is the Director toxic asf? Without a doubt. But you better believe I ate this volume up. We’re back immediately after the end of volume 1, and Kaya is figuring out what she wants for herself, and her priorities. I loved how gradually the Director is realizing how in love he is with Kaya. It’s definitely going to be a “she fell first, but he fell harder” situation. His scenes where he’s all protective of her and he can’t understand why are great! Anyway, I’m really enjoying this manga series so far! It’s tropey goodness, with some smutty scenes and a toxic as hell main couple.

God this volume is so much better than I remember, I was very compelled and moved the entire time, so I'm bumping my four star rating to a five star!
There's something so powerful about trying to deny your feelings for someone but it already being too late -- you're already in too deep, unable to stop feeling the way you feel for them, too intertwined with them to fully extricate yourself. That's the situation Kaya and Kyohei feel for each other in this volume. As Kyohei says, even if he left her, she's still his -- and as an audience member, that's how it feels, too. Even if distance is created, the grip they have on each other's hearts and minds is still way too strong.
Kyohei may have said that he owns her, but honestly, she owns him way more. He's pretty much starving to death because he wants her so bad. It's so sexy and romantic, I'm literally giggling and kicking my feet while writing this!!
And this volume was super sexy and romantic. I just find their dynamic so delicious. Even though I think I did read him as a cruel oresama in my past read, I feel like I understand his tsundere ways so much better now. If you look past his veneer of pride, as a creature that stands above humans on the food chain, you can see that he's actually quite caring -- he just keeps getting in his own way. I can totally see Kyohei as being someone who looked at the situation his vampire mother and human father were in, and probably for his whole life thought "I would never do something so stupid as fall in love with a human." ... and now, here he is. Of course he'd lash out and have trouble accepting it. I'm just really happy that Kaya didn't give up on him.
And god, I love Kaya. She really is the protagonist of all time. She is the definition of a badass. I love the way she can focus so hard on her work even when she's suffering and heartbroken. She just has this mature professionalism and dedication that I really enjoy and love. I, too, would be whipped for such an amazing secretary. We stan this power couple!!
Also, I just can't speak enough on how much I ADORE the art in this. It's not just sexy, it's downright beautiful. This era of shojo art is just to die for -- the hair is so glossy, the outfits are chic and fashionable, there's so much artfulness and dynamism on the page. Every single page is such a treat to my eyes. I can't get enough. The art alone is 10/10 for me. I love how Kaya is both this gorgeous, mature woman and this baby-faced person with adorable doe eyes. Such a realistic juxtaposition, and just as well, Kyohei is incredibly sexy and mature as well, but he has this almost boyishness to his expressions. Their designs are simple but so incredible. Can't sing their praises enough!

I really love the way they're developing here! I can feel the intensity of their feelings for each other. It says a lot that even though he said horrible things to her and overall acted awful in this volume, she still can't get over the way she feels about him. Even I was like "Damn Kyohei." once or twice, vampire pride be damned. I'm excited to see the way things continue from here on out!

Quite an enjoyable series tbh, but definitely won’t be a favourite. It was nice to read something more adult for once, though I did find myself kind of getting bored at times as the main character just monologues to herself a lot. I liked how it started to go in the last 2 volumes tho, super interesting, just sad it ended so openly!!

oh boo, it's going straight into romancelandia
but i wanted more work stuff!!!
also i am feeling decidedly meh about the portrayal of women in this series, i understand the philanderer hero is a pretty standard archetype but mrr. i'm never sold on romances premised on 'oh but he treats me better than all those ~other women~!'
if a dude is a dick to every single other woman he interacts with, chances are high he will act so with you one day my friend
i liked that kaya insisted on finishing her job contract before coming back though. four for you kaya, professionalism for the win. 2 stars

Oops I actually finished and retuned this book yesterday but I finished it over my lunch break and forgot to rate and review.
It was good!! Very good. I loved both the literal title drop at the end and the shift to what I assume is going to be status quo for our characters.
And also— a note about manga sex scenes: this was my first time reading a full on love scene in a manga. (Well, in a manga that wasn’t just a straight up doujin. Don’t judge me. Sometimes you gotta read hentai with mild disinterest, as if you’re reading the morning paper). HapiMari is definitely on the spicier side, but Chiwa and Hokuto are holding out to build tension. As for the love scene here, it’s actually about the level of steam of any typical Western romance novel, just drawn out. All jokes aside, it’s weird thinking about how different human sexuality is when it’s sketched out as opposed to written word. Though perhaps that’s my inner Jehovah’s Witness being squeamish. In any case, it was tasteful and it did move the story along!
So. Now that I’ve said all that— do you guys think I can reach my reading goal? I realize I’m talking to myself here, but is it even possible to read 25 books in 10 days? I’ll keep bingereading manga and see where I end up, I guess!

Wow, I didn't think Volume 2 could be as good as Volume 1, but it really hit it. Even though the FL is super submissive (it's the genre right), it's not so off-putting, it's kind of a fun troupe to read. She's working for another person now because the ML pushes her away too much.
But the body wants what it wants and he wants her blood. In this world, Vampires can only consume blood from humans of the opposite sex, so that adds another layer of intensity.
I think I might. binge read this series since I got the next two volumes from local library and yes, my library carries mature manga, who knew?

This manga series is for mature audience readers only. Oh my! While the last volume has some mature content this one is much more geared to adult manga fans. Office, vampire romance here we go!
In this volume Kaya is coming to terms with her feelings for Director Touma. However when his brother confronts her about it, her emotional turmoil over him causes her to change positions in the company. Kyouhei Touma sends her on such a roller coaster. He is cold toward her one moment yet desiring her blood the next. I must give Kaya some due credit. she puts up with him and all his issues and still maintains her duties as an amazing secretary.
Like I stated above, this series is ramping up the sexual content. So steamy scenes will occur! I love the artwork and how the characters are drawn. Their expressions and body language says so much into the story!
I must say though that the sexist roles taken get a bit annoying. The expectations of secretaries, the fact that they are all females and all board members, etc are men gets frustrating. So I was less than a fan about the stereotypical roles shown of everyone.
Overall, this is turning into an interesting series. Not sure how long it will last. The plot seems to indicate only a few more volumes but we shall see if more depth is presented in future volumes.

I really liked the protagonist in the first book but she's begun to really get on my nerves. The main male character hasn't changed, actually, I think he's gotten worse (if that's even possible).

the interesting vampire twist is that vamps can only mate with humans, and then have either full human or full vamp babies. Most of the time, they do not stay after mating-returning to the vamp clan. The director-as he is called, even in the throws of passion with his secretary blood bank, is in angst because mommie loved him too much, and stayed with his human father. Yeah, she left the vamp clan. oh, also vamps can only feed on the opposite sex!?! It would be a better plotline, with 70% less blood frenzy sex romps. I am not a prude, but their just a rehash re-run of the prior session.

Great jousei. The two leads get closer in this volume as the heroine realizes that she's in love with the director. She leaves him to work for someone else for a time, but when she hears he's physically suffering from her absence, she returns. The end of the volume marks the beginning of their sexual relationship.

This volume shows a lot about Masaki, Kyohei's older brother who is adorably protective of Kaya. He is sweet and does so much to help her. Seeing her outside of his sphere was impressive, she is wholly capable and truly impressive.
I like the end of the volume though there are definitely problems in their future. His whole nature is domineering.

2.5 stars. This man is deranged!!! God, get a grip mate! More ridiculousness, and a scene straight out of twilight. 2 stars in quaility but the extra .5 is becase of the sexy time. I will absolutely be continuing this saga.

The romance between our hyper efficient secretary and vampire boss continues. In this volume Kaya discovers she has fallen for her boss - something something drama happens.
To be honest this rating is basically for making me smile. This is the most ridiculous series but I really like the art and the OTT nature of it.

If I drool a little is that totally unethical? Lol. I don't know why my heart has such a soft spot for japanese animation culture. Seriously. Every drawing in this tells a story for me and I love it! <3 Smut smut smut all around.
The 2nd manga picks up pretty much exactly where it was left off. Kaya and the Director's relationship is continue on it's ever so strange spiral. Of course I can assume where it will go and I want it to go there for sure. It's the journey my dear. Haha.
At times, my feminist side gets the best of for me enjoying this but I understand that this culture is actually very different from our western culture. The view on women's and mens roles is... well... interesting to say the least. I can deal with it given the context and culture. It just confuses me if Kaya is indeed being a good loyal person or just a sick girl bending over backwards for a man who treats her like shit.
I like that the Director does trust her a lot and that becomes very evident. She just knows and there is definitely, in my opinion, more stuff stirring underneath what is in the surface and I like that.
The scene near the end... my GOD! I was like. WOW. I am not used to seeing it but... hey. Good stuff. I am itching to pick up the rest except only volume 2 was at the book store. Time to hunt ladies.

Sometimes, feelings get you so confused that you don't know what to do. That's what happens to Kaya in this volume. She's a smart young woman, who makes a wonderful secretary for Director Kyohei. But, it's obvious that she has fallen head-over-heels for him. She's tired of seeing women streaming in-and-out of his office, with none of them--even her--being anything more to Kyohei than just a constant and consistent food source.
So, Kaya files for a transfer away from the man who will never return her feelings, far from constant reminders that she truly means nothing to him.

Mangas son una lectura rapida y mas facil no necesitas de tanta concentracion para entenderlo, me encanta la tematica es super excelente aunque lo de los vampiros ya esta gastado, pero siguen gustando los vampiro, amo que ella sea la unica sangre con la cual no puede vivir o saciarse aunque a veces ella me desespera
eso es lo malo de estas tipicas historias de vampiros es que las mujeres son tonta y a veces hasta ignorante de las estupideces que estan cometiendo, pero valio la pena leerlo

This manga series is kind of addictive. I currently only have volumes 1 and 2. I need the other volumes asap. I ordered the rest of the series, but sadly have to wait for them to arrive. I felt like we got to learn more about Kaya and Kyohei in this second volume. This definitely had more mature content then the first volume. I highly recommend!

Well this was an interesting one. A lot happens. And there's the whole mixed signals going on its ridiculous. I kept thinking, OMG communicate will you? Then of course we have the title drop. And its only volume 2. Already the story is moving forward isn't it?
