The Review Wow, I loved this one, I am not a great fan of historical as sometimes they can be too much about what a person is wearing instead of on the storyline, this one is an exception, there was some comments made about the clothes, but it was more about the story, which was wonderful, a great love story that conquers all eventually, If you love a happy ending then this is the one for you, I loved Lady Madeline, she may have been from a previous period but she could quite easily fit into the present time, she was no simpering female, the women were always married off to whomever the parent or guardian felt was befitting them, in some cases, this made young ladies marrying a man twice her age, but that is not going to happen to Lady Madeline, she will do everything in her power to persuade those around her that she should marry Lord Samuel Powell, but this man comes with a past that all in her life disapprove of, except one, her uncle & maid, this leads to meetings in private, I loved this book and would highly recommend to all who love a great love story, regardless of era and to those who love historical romances, 4.5/5
10*s. I received an eARC copy of this book directly from the author in return for an honest review.
I absolutely love this time period and it's one of my favorite time periods ever. I love Lady Madeline, in this story. She has a love for reading and dreaming of a man just as Captain Saunders in her beloved stories. Does she find her prince in the rough? This is a MUST read that adults will fully enjoy from beginning to end!!! This author really knows how to capture her audience and entrance us into becoming one with her stories!! Thank you, Elizabeth A Lance for this incredible historical romance with another heartwarming and beautiful ending!!
I have read a few books by this author by now, as she writes historical romance in the periods I enjoy. Unfortunately, of all the books I've read of hers, only one was actually decent. And, yes, unfortunately, this is not that book. For one thing, the book has clearly not been professionally copyedited, and the author does not have a good grasp of English grammar, punctuation, and usage. Yes, I did receive an ARC copy of the book, but I looked at the published book at Amazon, and the errors were still rife there. In this particular book, too, I just didn't find the romance believable at all. Yes, insta love and lust are quite common in romance books, but I think it takes a very skilled author to pull that off believably. The characters can't merely say they are in love; they have to show it, or at least show that moment from which love springs. That doesn't happen here. I also thought that the heroine acted inconsistently. She is Lady Meek-and-Mild with her aunt, but she is almost over-the-top aggressive, especially for a woman of her era, with the hero. I just didn't buy the radical switches that she made. All in all, I found this yet another disappointing book by this author.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I was given this book in Audible for an honest review.
I loved everything about this beautiful book. It’s a fast paced storyline. Well written and very romantic ❤️
Lady Madeline is in London with her Aunt Caroline and Uncle Michael as her chaperones. A chance encounter finds her tumbling into the arms of a very handsome Lord Powell. He insists she calls him Simon, and that is the beginning of love at first sight!
Lord Simon Powell is the Duke of Wiltshire and in the past, a known rakehell! Lady Madeline is a strong and determined young lady. She knows that Simon is the one for her and he feels the same. But, there are many obstacles in there way. I really enjoyed and just loved listening to this beautiful and well written storyline! It flowed so well and I love the narrative and the detail to attention. For such a short story, it had almost everything a full length story would. I’m a lover of epilogues, and this one had a sweet one! I would listen to this book again, and I strongly recommend this book 💕❤️
Lady Madeline Ryder has always wanted to spend an exciting life in love with a handsome pirate. But her aunt and her father have their own idea of eligible men they want her to choose from, and they have given her a deadline of Valentine’s Day to make her selection. At first, she is resigned to doing things their way. But she accidentally falls into the arms of Lord Samuel Powell, Duke of Wiltshire, and his mischievous blue eyes captured her heart!
With only two weeks before her required engagement, Madeline must convince her father that the former rogue is perfect for her. Can she do it?
With wonderful secondary characters supporting Madeline, this book is the perfect book to provide a HEA. The story line is great, and the characters are portrayed well. Grab your copy and see whether Madeline and have her dreams come true, or if she is doomed to select from the stuffy eligible men her father would have her marry.
Regency romance is my favorite genre, so I have read a lot of different stories by different authors. Ms. Lance is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors in this genre! She does an excellent job of describing the scenes so vividly that you feel as if you are right there experiencing the moment for yourself. That's really important to me because it really helps me enjoy the book so much more. The storyline was wonderful, depicting a great love story with a happy ending. The characters were strong and had such great personalities and are portrayed very well. Lady Madeleine fights for what she wants and she wants the Duke of Wiltshire. They also had such great chemistry! This is a really delightful read and I would highly recommend for a nice cozy afternoon!

Madeline was a dreamer who liked to read romance novels. She was sent to her aunt to make her debutant showing in the ton. Sam was a bonafide rake. Madeline literally fell into Sam and it was love at first site for them both. But how would they convince her father who Sam had a past with to allow them to marry? Fun story

I love Valentine love stories. This one is about true love and even though our parents want what they think is best, it might not be. Love like there is no tomorrow and fight for your dreams and what you want. Great characters and story.

This is a beautiful novella set in a time when everything is simpler much different than today. I loved the interesting characters and the way the author described everything from the characters to their surroundings. I love reading books about this era and I look forward to reading more in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I loved this book! historical romances are a favourite of mine and when I saw this I couldn't help but want to read it! When I saw that it was written by Elizabeth A. Lance I was doubly excited as I have come to admire her work greatly, she has a great mind full of imagination and knows how to keep her audiences completely riveted throughout an entire book.
No matter the genre of book she is writing Elizabeth captures our hearts and minds with her compelling characters and her magnificent story lines. I fell in love with the characters of The Valentine right from the start they were heartfelt, daring and maybe a bit naive but completely adorable. I felt as if I was beside them as they danced at the beautiful balls and peeking at them as they shared stolen kisses in the garden.
I got a kick out of Aunt Caroline as she tried to foist all the stuffy eligible men on poor Madeline and how the servant Nelly was such a friend and listened to all her secrets. I so loved Uncle Michael as well as he loved her dearly and never stood in her way for happiness.
this book was amazing and if you love historical romance then you will love this! Elizabeth A. Lance is truly one of the best and I can't wait to read more of her work. Get your copy today and put this on your TBR Lists!
A beautiful love story. I love this era! This page turning story captured my heart and I fell in love with the characters. Perfect read for this time of year. Very well written and I look forward to more books by this author.
This was a beautiful, romantic tale. I loved that the words transported me back to a time where everything was so different. I hoped for a happy ending for Madeline and Sam but it was more than happy, it was perfect!
