Dom DiNapoli, a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with double majors in music and English, is on his way to an oceanfront resort hotel in Virginia Beach to take a job as piano player in the hotel bar. Somewhere along the Maryland peninsula, in the middle of a string of heavy thunderstorms, he encounters a mysterious woman on the side of the road, standing in the pouring rain next to a broken-down vintage Cadillac. What happens next, and in the following months, will be the first of recurring encounters that Dom will have no explanation for. Waiting for him in Virginia Beach is a collection of colorful characters – Mimi, Carla, Willis, Cassie and others -- and some very romantic moments…but it will be the woman named Irene that will haunt Dom’s thoughts forever and make him realize that he…and she…have lived before.
