Anondra Williams
9 books34 followersAnondra "Kat" Williams is writer, poet, radio host and all around lover of words. Her first foray into writing was "black girl love" and "SistaGirl". Both are a collection of short stories and poetry, detailing everyday love and life between women who love women.
Since then she has written her first novela "Pat Greene" and "About Love" another collection of short stories and poems. In 2024, Anondra will release THREE new writes including two novels and a short story collection.
In 2009 she started Shades Retreat: Personal, You. Shades Retreat is a empowerment, growth and change retreat for queer women of color. She and her group of cohorts are planning upcoming retreats in 2025!

Im currently reading this book and as an Author I fell COMPLETELY in love from the very first story. It's open on my Kindle even as I write this reveiw right now. Her play on words is RIDICULOUS. If you dont read another lesbian book in life read this one. Im just sitting here smiling. It is exactly what it says it is "Black Girl Love", some namesless and faceless, but still powerful all the same. Not many people can do that. She has been added to my list of Authors to colab with and meet one day.
I had to update this review. This had to be the first lebian novel that I feel I can read over and over. The poetry, the connection of the stories from one to the other. It's flows so easily. I am in love with this book and im saddened at this being the only one I can find by this author.

“Black Girl Love” by Anondra “Kat” Williams contains 20+ short stories and 6 poems that touch on the different phases of Black Girl Love.
The words in this book are hypnotic, sensual, and free-flowing. The first poem, ‘Black Girl Love,’ offers readers a peek into what the rest of the book has to offer. Each story is something you can relate to from your own personal experience or from someone you know. She covers topics such as one night stands, abusive love, and communication issues. In some of the stories, I could imagine myself as the main character going through the motions.
I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

Black girl love, the serious kind. Makes your heart beat, and can blow your mind.
The touch of a brown hand, a kiss of full brown lips, the sway in her back, the curves of her hips.
The sweet chocolate nectar that falls down, mouth wide open not making a sound
as you celebrate the love of the many shades of brown!
The subtle nuances of maybe, and could we, and we are; excite and titillate the senses allowing us to remember a moment, a day, a person, a time and space in our hearts.
Thru the bumps and the bruises of love, no matter the color, still lingers weaving themselves into who we were, who we want to be and who we are.
This beautiful collection stirs the pot of emotions, dishing out a heaping bowl of the unrequited mystery that is Black Girl Love!
I enjoyed reading the different stories and poetry, that run the gamut of this thing called love. This cornucopia of levels that love can take one to reverberates loud and clear from beginning to end.
In spite of the grammatical and typographical errors, Black girl love is a quick and emotional ride, that won’t allow you to put it down.

I figured I shouldn't review my own book but I could post a review from Amazon.
"Black Girl Love" is an explanation of why the love of a black woman quickens the woman lover in us. Each character experiences love in ways that are reminiscent of the last one you had or the one that you've always wanted.
In each story and poem, the author shares moments of women loving women in ways that flow from the traditional to the unexpected. Sometimes loving naively. Sometimes perfectly present and sometimes with troubled minds. Stories of love written honestly as each character works to make loving her work and/or work hard to make good love. The plots and syntax pleasantly detail character traits with an ebb and flow that keep you. The flow will make you go back for more a few times.
I really enjoyed the book. Long before I'd finished reading, I saw the girl in me who has tried to be a grown woman loving. I was reminded of why I love, in general, and of my intentions when I've loved some. More than anything, the black woman in me who loves black women was wide awake.

Black Girl Love should be read by every black lesbian. Tender, sweet, sometimes spicy stories that encompass the full range of love between women. Anondra's prose is poetic and masterful.

I HAVE READ THIS BOOK SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL READ IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES. IF I'M STRESSED AND NEED TO RELAX I READ IT AGAIN.

The women in my book club HATED IT b/c of grammer carelessness. I lovedit b/c of content, emotion and passion. After reading, I just wish that the author included TRANS* issues. Whether it be F to M or trans sexual/ trans gender. That would have further engaged a larger more diverse "lesbian" reader base.

Poetry flows through the author's narration making each story a beautiful, visual, and easy read. Very tasteful. I enjoyed it.

This book is a collection of stories and poems that I wish a copy editor went over on more time. I'm being nit-picky but there were some typos and random font changes that irked me just a bit.
Besides that, I did enjoy reading this book. I was a quick read (less than 2 hours) but I really felt like I could connect to some of the narrators.

Keep loving Black Girl
This book is enjoyable from start to finish; from the living and loving to the hurting and healing. Each story is on the same level of greatness which makes it difficult to pinpoint a favorite scene.
Black Girl Love is refreshing, enduring, rough when it needs to be and gentle all in the same. There is no character that can standout because each are written with the same amout of beauty and flaws. Most are faceless and nameless, leaving the imagination to run in whatever direction it pleases. These black girls can be anyone.
Williams posses a great skill being able to make you fall in love with characters that lack identity, other than having melanin in their skin. Each story is well-written, short, sweet, and to the point. We recommend every black girl to read this book.

black girl love laughs. black girl love cries. black girl love hurts. black girl love plays. black girl love is relentless in its desire, pure in its sexuality, heartbreaking in its need. black girl love is sweet in its honesty, simple in its complexity, clear in its confusion, absolute in its choices. black girl love is bold, fearless, intense, and refreshingly unapologetic for who and what it is. Most importantly, black girl love is love that captures the heart and soul of black girls in love.
