This is an extremely handy book and by no means "pocket sized." It has some very helpful illustrations and tips. I could have used this book years ago because I have an 82-year-old house. It always seems that you start one project, then, once you open a wall, it turns into another. There's a lot of things that look like fun. For example, there ar basic plans for building a planter bench and making an Adirondack chair.
I bought this book five years ago and never dreamed that I'd do some of the projects in it-- like drywalling, or plumbing stuff. But it's immensely helpful for all of my projects on my little Cape Cod cottage. I find that it's often better than the internet because you are not overwhelmed with information-- it's just clear, concise, and very thorough.
We made some of the benches form this book..they came out awesome! This book also came in very handy when redo the kitchen as well, used the plumbing, the electrical and the carpentry for the book!
