When I started reading it, I hadn’t checked the publication date. I figured 60s or 70s once I started reading. To my surprise, it was released in 1990! The jokes seemed a bit dated for that.

There was some good humor in here, but at times the timing was off (great cracks would be delivered with little to no setup) and after a while it became heavily reliant on hyperbole. Tits are like blimps. Delivering a baby is like pumping out an entire football team.

I still thought it was okay though. I’d have a drink with the author. There’s a lot of personality in here. I bet she’d be fun to chat with.

If nothing else, the book serves as a diagnostic tool to gauge how the persistent issues associated with patriarchy have changed.

Not. One. Bit.

Just about everything this woman was frustrated about 30 years ago is still a problem today, and a lot of it is the burden of our female counterparts, birth control and emphasis on looks being at the forefront.

Author Jan King was such a beautiful spirt and full of verve. This book helped get through some challenging times with laughter and ...grit! I met Jan in 2016 and she was so lovely and giving of her time.
Jan's writing is always engaging and funny as hell! If you haven't read her books, you might consider if in need of both some insights coupled with great humor. Thank you for all the joy and RIP Jan King <3

Some parts were funny but most of it was just non-stop exaggerations and sarcasm. Not for me.

Huge Disappointment

Even though I had heard the old saying "You Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover," the cover art on this book was so cute I had high hopes for this little book -also I love irreverent humour and the title seemed to promise this. However, aside from an especially clever man joke 91% through the book, I was disappointed that the rest of the text was a collection of PMS, period, sex and pregnancy jokes so old I think they were originally published in Aramaic.

Every postmenopausal woman needs to read this book.

I gave this book five stars because it is the kind of lighthearted fun that every woman needs, especially on really gloomy days. Even the cover makes me smile.
