This was a great second book in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it flowed well and there were some fabulous surprises which made it a real page turner. However (and this is not a bad thing) it frustrated the h*** out of me! Books should stir emotions and Aimee Ash has written one that does just that, balancing angst, frustration and action with touching moments and those that are heart-wrenching. As the title suggests there are secrets. And plenty of them...
Continuing on from where Enigma ended, Kate is coming to terms with the fact that she is immortal, has new found abilities and her relationship with Seb. She adapts well, gone is the quiet girl and in her place is a confident women at ease with herself. But she also has the most frustrating, selfish, self-centred attitude; at times I didn't like her much and wanted to shake her! Seb and Jack aren't on the best of terms after the love-triangle debacle; as a result Seb shows insecurities and underneath the tough-guy exterior, Jack is a man in pain and clearly still in love. My heart went out to both of them. I spent the last book agonising over Kate dating the wrong brother and I have spent this book agonising over her dating the wrong brother! Although in all fairness, there were a few occasions that had me thinking she didn't deserve either of them!
Many more characters are introduced bringing additional twists and surprises to the story with them, as do those from the first book and I was pleased that Kate's brother and sister were more central to the story. If you have read Enigma, I doubt you will be disappointed with Secrets. If you haven't, you should read both and I look forward to the final part of the trilogy. The foundations have been laid and I'm sure it'll be another rollercoaster of a read.
