Karuho Shiina was born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan. Though Kimi ni Todoke is only her second series following many one-shot stories, it has already racked up accolades from various "Best Manga of the Year" lists. Winner of the 2008 Kodansha Manga Award for the shojo category, Kimi ni Todoke also placed fifth in the first-ever Manga Taisho (Cartoon Grand Prize) contest in 2008.

WHY IS THIS SERIES SO CUTE? If you don't mind the frustratingly slow pace (but the pace fits the characters well, and actually, quite realistically, since they're THAT innocent and adorable, but it still felt achingly slow, even if I have to say that it is most definitely worth it in the end), I highly recommend this series because there are few shoujo slice-of-life manga that are cuter. Seriously. I ship Kazehaya Shouta/Kuronoma Sawako like mad (Can they please start calling each other by their first names now? I mean, they just kissed. It's the next step, right?), and I want to squish Kazehaya all the time for bringing the adorable. (HIS SMILE MAKES ME MELT and he says the sweetest, most honest things and he does things like shout a love confession in the middle of a school courtyard without realizing how many other people are around because he can't stop himself from hiding it anymore, and then gets embarrassed about doing it so publicly later, even if at the time, it was just him and her and he HAD to tell her.) I didn't want to read this series because I have no time for ongoing manga - Skip Beat and Gakuen Alice are taking up my time, and waiting chapter-by-chapter, volume-by-volume for something that updates so rarely is difficult. But I want to carry this series out, no matter how slow or frustrating. And if you have the patience for it (and even if you don't, if you give it a try, I promise you you'll eventually feel like it was worth investing time into), I strongly recommend Kimi ni Todoke. Especially if you're a shoujo fan. There is a reason why this manga (and anime) is considered to be one of the best. (And you will die from the cute. you will absolutely die.)


(This volume should probably be 4.5 stars, but I don't even care. ALL THE AWARDS to it because these last few chapters were everything I wanted since chapter 40.)

Seriously, this might be one the best volumes because the growth that takes place is amazing!

Kento is so adorable and I can't believe that in the very beginning of meeting him I didn't like him! You literally can't help but cheer for this young man! He is precious and his heart must be protected!

Is that my Chizu and Ryu ship I see possibly sailing?!?! FLAILS!!

And YOU GO SAWAKO!! Pulled my heart strings, BUT Kazehaya…I'm proud of you. <3

Pin is one of the most fascinating characters in this series because you never know what's going to come out of his mouth and this volume was no exception.

Be sure to have volume 18 right next to you because as soon as this volume ended I binge read that first chapter and it. was. perfection! THAT is the best chapter in the whole series!

Brace yourself for ALL the things in this. It's SO good!!

La fiesta de Navidad trae muchas cosas buenas.

La relación entre Chizu y Ryu por fin deja de ser tan tensa como había estado los últimos tomos, un regalo arregla las cosas. Me encanta esta pareja es mi segunda favorita.

Ayane y Kento son tan lindos, poco a poco yo sé que Kento lo logrará... Llegar a su corazón, esta pareja va a ser muy interesante, sobre todo por Kento es tan tierno, la parte de las escaleras de emergencias es lo mejor.

Kazehaya se los juro los primeros tres capítulos me daban ganas de golpearlo por hacer sufrir a Sawako.
Me llego al corazón la frase de Sawako: Me sentí más sola estando contigo que sin ti

Se los juro 17 tomos y 71 capítulos tuvieron que pasar para que mi corazón gritara de emoción, mi sonrisa tonta no se puede quitar de mi cara. Ese último capítulo... Esas últimas páginas específicamente han sido lo mejor hasta el momento

I've been missing this manga a lot, especially Sawako's chibi, which must be the cutest chibi in a manga (awwww I missed her so much). I just found out that Volume 18 is complete, so I thought to re-read Volume 17 to refresh my mind.

All the scenes related to Chizu and Ryu were amazing. They may be my favorite couple in the story now. The awkwardness (on Chizu's side only) is very sweet. Of course Ryuu will never be nervous; he is like, the coolest and more mature guy I've read in a shoujo. And all the misunderstanding with Joe at the Christmas' party, hilarious! He wants a girlfriend so badly.

Ayane and Kent... It is not that I don't like them, but I don't feel the 'chemistry' between them. Maybe I am sub-conscientiously rooting for Pin?

And at last, the first kiss. It takes a whole chapter, and that is why is so cute. As always, the mangaka knows how to create a story without rushing into things, and without being slow-paced.

5/5 Yeah it probably doesn’t deserve 5 stars but for f*ck sake finally! Things have been SLOWLY building to a crescendo for 6 of our characters. Some of it was infuriating so when this volume offers some development and closure for them it was great to see. I still find myself vested with these characters so I’m going to do my best to push through these last 13 volumes and hope I’m not burned at the end.

Sawako and Shota on this cover hinting at eventualities and things to come.

Also Kazehaya al fin espabilas hijo mío, que has tenido que hacer llorar a Sawa para que al fin reacciones. En teoría Sawako es la inadapada y la que tiene problemas de comunación, pero en serio que este hombre es aún peor... Menos mal que lo han arreglado porque vaya dramas son xD
PD: Kento mvp del tomo. Aunque Pin tampoco se queda atrás...

on this episode- overthinking, expectations and being fragile left and right! grabeh ung yakapang ayane-kento! mahigpit and full of hope and promise 💖

i don’t skip intros on this one.

seeing chizuru’s conflicted feelings for ryu is like breaking up with a friend and letting go of all the memories that cam with it. “it hurts because it matters” i wanted to hug her by the pier and tell her to take her time, i would love to tell her that all those things will be replaced by a new chapter, something better and deeper but ill let her realize that for herself, for now ill just stay with her and let her grieve.

Chizu chan nabbaliw! 😵‍💫🥴😆 but slowly accepting that Ryu looove,

Ayane chan getting more self aware at this point, not realizing how special and selfless she is,

and Sawako, as their light, making everyone better around her

who cud ask for a better trio 💜🩷🧡

Kazehaya Shota, Kuronouma Sato, Yano Ayane, Yoshida Chizuru, Ryu, Kento, Pin and all the other cast of this feel good series, thankyou for shining a light on my existence on this rainy august day, i will miss you all! till the next installment guys! 🫶🏻

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! AT LONG LAST!!!!! Kento and Ayane <3333 SAWAKO AND KAZEHAYA!!!!! <333333 WAAAAAAAH I COULD FLY THROUGH A FRIKING ROOF I'M SO HAPPY!!!!
But I can't help but worry about the aftermath... *grins* But something tells me that Sawako won't let him slip away from her again. :3
Chizu and Ryu seem to be okay.. *sighs with relief*
All in all, though, I'm just as happy about Kento and Ayane as I am about Kazehaya and Sawako <3 Ayane deserves a great guy like Kento!
I totally saw his punch coming. KILLER OTAKU INSTINCT STRIKES AGAIN! xD no, but to be fair, it was pretty obvious that Kento was gonna rage against Mogi-kun.
Pin, as bizarre as he is, I love him for being there for Sawako (and Kazehaya, sometimes). He always seems to know just what to say.
Volume 18 comes out in almost exactly a month! (January 7th!) Can't wait to see what happens next :)

~ χρονιά manga φέτος και μόνο με manga θα ήταν σωστό να την αποχαιρετήσω ~


χριστουγεννιάτικο volume -moe και <3 παντού- και κρατήθηκα πάρα -μα πάρα- πολύ, για να μην το διαβάσω με το που έφτασε στα χέρια μου!

δε θα γράψω full review -αυτή θα ακολουθήσει μετά την ολοκλήρωση του manga- απλά θα εκφράσω, όσο πιο περιληπτικά γίνεται, τον θαυμασμό και την αγάπη μου.

διαφορετικό -πραγματικά υπέροχο- σχέδιο από την Karuho Shiina (τα μάτια σου Kento ;D) και η καλύτερη ανάπτυξη χαρακτήρων - τουλάxιστον έξι συγχρόνως- που έχω διαβάσει σε manga.

Α!και υπέροχα εξώφυλλα.

ΥΓ μη δεις το anime, ούτε πού το αγγίζει το manga (να το δεις μόνο αφού διαβάσεις).
