Very disappointed in this cookbook. The first half of the book is dealing with weight loss surgery, setting goals, and exercise. All great things to know, but I wanted a cookbook as I am 3 years post-surgery. I guess my big problem is that it is labeled a cookbook, rather than a post surgery guife.

The recipes sound good, but a lot are high carb. When my physician is keeping me under 100 grams of carbs, even a low fat mac n cheese won't cut it if a serving has 78 grams of carbs!

A lot of recipes are really high in carbs and calories. Most of these recipes I could never eat and my nutritionist would never approve them. The Mac and cheese had 580 cals and 78g of carbs PER SERVING.

What’s with the soy and canola oils

Don’t know if canola oil is that good for you. And maybe the soy is not all that great if you’re a guy due to some effects it supposedly has on the male chest . However main points are all good and I will use the recipes that don’t have soy and will use a different oil .

Best WLS guide

Excellent book. Very helpful. A must have to be able to prepare for WLS. Right on target & follows my doctor's program.

I bought this book for the recipes. Although the recipes are low-carb and definitely support a bariatric diet, they are best suited for well after surgery, perhaps the maintenance stage. For me, the best feature is the great information provided about life after surgery. Everything from how you will feel and what to expect, to what to do with your old clothes and how best to acquire your new wardrobe.
