After a horrific breakup with her longtime boyfriend, Brooklyn Caldwell is completely disenchanted with the notion of mingling with the opposite sex. Damon Williams had been everything she thought she wanted…until he wasn’t.
In an attempt to escape her heartbreaking past, Brooklyn seeks refuge in bustling Washington, D.C. where she folds into the fast-paced society unnoticed…until she meets a young entrepreneur, Logan Colton.
Brooklyn is surprised to find that while she has been successful in keeping the opposite sex at bay, somehow she is defenseless against Logan’s confidence and charm—and it doesn’t hurt that he is absurdly beautiful.
As much as Logan didn’t plan on pursuing her, he is drawn to Brooklyn’s muted beauty and her witty persona. For all his success, Logan is ensnared in the coveted world of unequivocal wealth and power, but behind closed doors is taunted by demons and an undeniable need to atone for a monumental mistake.
As the two embark on a tumultuous obstacle course saturated with unknown twists and turns, Brooklyn is left to question whether she can endure the journey ahead.
S.C. Ellington is an up and coming author who enjoys expressing her creativity through frequently writing adult, contemporary romance novels that readers can relate to, but more importantly, enjoy.
Aside from writing, Ellington enjoys curling up with her e-reader and absorbing herself in novels loaded with emotion, desire, and passion. She also likes to spend sunny, wistful afternoons, in her hammock thinking up new ideas for great stories.
Ellington currently resides on the west coast with her beautiful family and loving friends.
Unsettled is a story with classical in contemporary romances twist, that I certainly enjoyed.
The main heroine, Brooklyn is still nursing her broken heart from really bad break up. She doesn’t do very well in relationships, because of Demon, her ex-boyfriend that scarred her for life. Now, despite the fact that three long years has passed, Brooklyn seems to be not able to let go of her past. So when she meets, young, sexy and completely irresistible Logan Colton, successful entrepreneur, her walls start to crack.
It took me a little bit time to get into this story and start enjoying it fully. The beginning was not very entertaining, and I found myslef being slightly bored. But somewhere in the middle the story started to be highly engaging and I finished it with a big smile on my face.
Once the story took off, I couldn’t stop laughing and rooting for characters. I was able to connect with the heroine and like her sassy personality. The only thing that made me grit my teeth was Brooklyn’s insecurity, that was very frustrating to read about. There were quite few times, when I wanted to shake her and tell her to get some lady balls and stop whining.
Despite this flaw, Brooklyn seemed to be very real and relatable character. She was not naïve damsel in distress, which made me like her more and thanks to that, I was able to forgive her stupid (from time to time) logic. Where she was feisty, open and extremely sharp, Logan’s personality was secure and quiet, yet immensely intense. He was her exact opposite, so seeing them together was definite fun.
Demon, Brooklyn ex-boyfriend was irritating addition, but he fortunately didn’t mess up the book for me.
While the plot seems to be classic ‘normal girl meets millionaire CEO’, Unsettled hides few unexpected twists and turns, that absolutely make reading S.C Ellington debut novel worthwhile. I can’t say that I did regret diving into Brooklyn’s modern romantic tale of unexpected love and consequences.
To sum it up, every fan of sexy, intense millionaires should pick Unsettled up. Sexy, well written and enjoyable, Ellington delivered nice romance novel that only opens a trilogy, that have fine prospects for the future.
I am the author of Unsettled, the first novel I've ever written and had the courage to publish.
I worked on this novel for nearly a year before finding the inner strength to believe that it was good enough to share. I am my toughest critic and know that things can always be improved.
Surrounded is book two of the Unsettled series, and to some people's excitement or chagrin, you'll be surprised to know that I haven't started working on the novel yet.
Unsettled ended in a cliffhanger if you will because I didn't feel the characters had any more to say at the moment.
To all those who have left constructive criticism or inspiring words, thank you. I am honored that you felt Unsettled was worthy of a five-star review.
Maybe I am not meant to find my ‘Mr. Right’ at the moment, and I for one am so over settling for ‘Mr. Right Now.’ ~Brooklyn
Minor spoilers alert!
I was thoroughly charmed and invested in the lives of twenty-four year old marketing assistant Brooklyn Caldwell and twenty-seven year old entrepreneur Logan Colton.
Writing style: Dual POVs (mostly Brooklyn’s)
Cover: I prefer the cover with the model who represents Brooklyn as opposed to the bridge that represents Logan's area of business. The female cover model is beautiful and appears introspective. It's a more striking cover to my eye.
Favorite bits:
I loved the chapter titles and graphic design.
I liked Brooklyn’s 3-strikes dating policy and the dialogue scene when she explained it to Logan. I loved that he was undeterred.
Their first text message conversation was so funny!
The bold pre-sex shower scene made me do a double-take/reread, wow!
I laughed in delight at their back and forth emails proclaiming their relationship status, too cute!
I loved that Logan paraphrased lyrics sung by her favorite band in a note that he left her before going on yet another business trip.
Below is one of my favorite flirty dialogue exchanges before things heated up between them:
“But in all honesty,” he said standing and closing the space between us, “lately the thing I’ve come to enjoy most is losing myself in you. I’d take that over watching mindless TV,” he quipped.
“What about you, Ms. Caldwell? What do you enjoy?” The way he asked ignited me to the core.
“Oh, I don’t know – reading, photography, listening to music…” I said, as I weaved my arms around his neck.
“And there’s one more thing…”
“What’s that?” he asked. His eyebrows stood at attention.
“I enjoy you,” I said, leaning in, pecking him on the lips.
Weakest element:
The editing needed more polishing. This debut novel was released back in December 2013. I’m not sure if it was professionally proofread or not because there were an unacceptable amount of persistent typos. Although these errors were minor individually, I found the frequency of them alarming and somewhat disruptive over time.
However, the strong character development and storytelling outweighed any issues I had with the errors. I would gladly reread this novel via audiobook someday if it's ever available in that format.
Brooklyn and Logan’s story ends on a serious cliffhanger. So up next for me is the sequel, Surrounded (Unsettled, #2).
In many ways Unsettled is a classic tale of star-crossed lovers with a modern twist. There’s Brooklyn, an executive assistant who is emotionally scarred from a past relationship, and Logan Colton, an immensely successful young entrepreneur. Both have storied pasts and deep emotional wounds that need healing. Brooklyn’s sharp wit and Logan’s unexpected groundedness makes for an interesting dynamic. Their romance that does not give way to cliché or convention, and the story kept my attention throughout. This is not a story about a damsel in distress who gets swept away from her Prince Charming. These are real characters, and I not only could relate to them, I found myself rooting for them during certain parts of the book.
I personally enjoyed the cliffhanger at the end; it’s the first book in a trilogy, so I expected there to be loose ends. Unsettled is a dazzling debut by a new writer. S.C. Ellington writes with such confidence and finesse that it’s quite a surprise this is her first novel. I look forward to the next book in the series.
This is a story about healing and moving forward. But how can you do that when you have left things unsettled?
After her ex Damon breaks her heart, Brooklyn moves across the country. She is working a crap job for a jerk of a boss. Then she meets Logan Cross. Logan is my favorite character from the book! Sweet, sexy and successful. Brooklyn and Logan both have secrets from their pasts. Brooklyn's past comes back to haunt her and is quite emotionally shocking. As the story flows her secrets are revealed and it becomes apparent she has not truly dealt with her past and been honest with some of the people in her life. Just when you think the story is beginning to "settle" BAM! Another twist in the plot from Logan's side. And it's over. Yes, that's right this story does end rather abruptly. Not so much a cliffhanger but more that it just ends leaving the story and characters "Unsettled". Logan seems to have more secrets than he has been willing to reveal and I can not wait to see where S.C. Ellington takes this story in the next installment.
I had great fun Beta reading Unsettled for SC Ellington, she is a blast and works so very hard promoting her book, I learnt lots of things like; who knew you could take your own packed lunch in to a coffee shop! And now I can order “a small drip with room.”
I was introduced to Brooklyn - A heroine with a wee muffin top – praise the freakin lord, I adored her instantly, she was sassy, funny but ultimately insecure and still hurting from a past relationship.
“He gave me some belaboured story about how his dick fell into her because of all the stress he was under, and how it meant nothing “- Brooke
Alex and Jay her friends are very funny too, however when her ex shows up in town, I felt they should have understood she didn’t want Damon visiting, he had cheated on her and I got a bit cross with them, but it later becomes clear that they weren’t fully aware of past events.
Then she runs in to the very successful and highly sort after bachelor about town Logan Colton.
"Logan Colton wanted me to call him? Why? For the life of me I couldn’t understand the cruel joke that the universe was playing on me. I wasn’t the pretty or popular girl that got asked out by legions of boys to prom".
Brooke is reluctant to date Logan, to her he seems too good to be true and beyond her reach, but he is persistent.
“Strike one was you sending Merick to my job to fetch me, rather than coming yourself. I’m not really that girl,” I said
“Strike two was making assumptions about me when we haven’t had one full conversation. I am informing you now, I run a tight ship.
Three strikes and you’re out, and there is no coming back once you’ve been sent to the dugout. Oh, and by the way, thank you for the flowers you had your driver deliver,” I said, raising an eyebrow and smirking.
Once the story takes off there is a lot of humour injected in to pages and the emails and texts made me smile throughout the book
“Logan, this is my roommate and best friend Alex,” I said, waving my hand in her general direction. Logan turned to greet Alex. When he was facing me again I diligently ignored Alex’s jovial miming and thumbs-up behind Logan’s head.
This book really is the introduction to a much bigger story, we meet our characters, we learn about aspects of their lives and we become aware of issues and secrets still be dealt with.
And let’s not forget the sex………..
“What are…oh…” I stopped mid-sentence. My eyes took in a full frontal of Logan sans the towel I’d given him. My eyes travelled from his face to his perfectly defined chest and finally landed on the apex of his manhood, which was fully erect. I turned away quickly, not wanting to stare
And then there is the cliff-hanger *bites finger nails*, this was not a problem for me I love a good cliff-hanger but it did take me completely by surprise, one minute I’m happily reading away the next I’m messaging Ms Ellington with a “WTH just happened – no smiley face ”
I’d love to tell you more, to explain how much I laughed, smiled, flushed and then cried, but you need to experience all this for yourself.
Unsettled is a New Adult book and right from the start of this review I need to be honest and say that I don't tend to read very many NA books anymore. The characters in most NA books usually annoy me with their immaturity so I usually avoid them. I was asked to join the blog tour so that is why I agreed to read and review this one.
This is the story of Brooklyn and Logan. Brooklyn is a 25 year old who has moved across the country to make a new start after having her heart trashed by Damon her previous boyfriend. Logan is a hot, young filthy rich CEO. They meet and he pursues her. She is hesitant after her past relationship experience but eventually decides to take a risk and give Logan a go. The story follows their growing relationship and along the way we discover some hidden secrets they are each holding.
Something I really liked about this story was that it wasn't an insta-love type story. Sure, Logan is intent on pursuing Brooklyn however she doesn't fall at his feet instantly. She makes him work for it and I enjoyed that. Brooklyn is a strong chick, even though she has insecurities about falling in love, and I loved her personality and strength. Logan was fairly swoonworthy and I found myself falling for him, almost wanting to shove Brooklyn towards him and telling her to "Just go for it babe!"
I felt that the author did a good job developing the characters. She gave them each their own distinct personalities and little quirks - they really did feel like real people to me. The only thing that kept getting in the way for me was that I sometimes felt like the dialogue was a little unbelievable. I would find myself stopping and thinking about what they were saying and this just got in the way of me reading and totally enjoying the story.
Now, as I said at the beginning, I am not a true fan of NA books SO...if you are, I think you will probably really enjoy this one, even more so than I did. If you love the rich CEO type books with a bossy male then definitely check this one out.

Well written story with a few ups and downs, story about letting go of the past, moving on, forgetting, compromising. When two lost souls meet and form a bound is it unbreakable or when things become harsh will it smash them like a wrecking ball, leaving the future unsettled...?

Brooklyn is still affected by the break up with her longtime boyfriend, Damon, three years ago. She has trouble getting close to people, especially with men. After being cheated on by the man she thought she would be with forever, she can’t find it in her to trust again, and make herself vulnerable. That is, until she literally runs into a handsome stranger in the lobby of her work building.
Logan is the total package, tall, dark, handsome, and rich. He is a self-made man who doesn’t do relationships. He is intrigued by Brooklyn, whom he has several chance encounters with. He quickly becomes enamored with her but she is unwilling to let down her guard and let him in. Can he convince her to take a chance and trust him? Or will secrets from Logan’s past doom them from the start?
For a freshman effort, Ms. Ellington has done a superb job of bringing her characters to life. The relationship between Brooklyn & Logan smolders and then ignites as they become wrapped up in one another. It is sweet and sensual until the arrival of Damon, which then complicates things. While the storyline is essentially one we’ve seen before, the twists that Ms. Ellington has added make it distinctly her own. In the beginning she does seem a little whiny and revisits the breakup with Damon just a little too often, she seems to move on once things pick up with Logan.
Brooklyn wants nothing more to do with Damon but in the ending, she is stuck having to make a choice after she is betrayed once again. Will she allow herself to talk to Logan and get answers to her questions? Or will she run back to the safety of Damon’s arms? Thankfully, unlike a lot of NA reads, it seems that Brooklyn is a bit more mature and we don’t have the incessant angst and constant inner dialogue second guessing her every move. I hope that continues in subsequent volumes so that Brooklyn comes across as the strong woman that she is. That regardless of whom she ends up with (if she ends up with anyone at all) that she is comfortable with that decision.
Unsettled is a fast, well-paced, engaging read. It immediately pulls you in with a well-crafted storyline and characters with depth. My only issue with the book is the abrupt cliffhanger of an ending. I don’t mind a cliffhanger if I can immediately dive right into the next book, but unfortunately the next volume is not yet slated for release. Unsettled is a solid four-star book and I think that Ms. Ellington has a bright future in the NA world.
I absolutely adored this book. It was an emotional yet beautiful story that touched my heart in more than one way. I loved all the characters in the story and was instantly drawn into the story. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.
Brooklyn was such a sweet, caring, and loving person. I couldn’t help but love her and want the best for her. She had been through so much in her life, things that I couldn’t imagine going through. My heart went out to her when I learned all of her secrets. It broke and wanted nothing more than for her to find her happily ever after and someone who deserved her love.
I was so in love with Logan. He was such a loving, sweet, and wonderful man. I couldn’t help but fall in love with him and want nothing more than for him to find his way into Brooklyn’s heart and stay there. He definitely had his secrets and my heart broke for him as well. I couldn’t believe what happened to him as a child. Such a horrific thing for a child to deal with and for him to still be dealing with it and feel guilty hurt me as well. He deserved to be happy and let the walls he built up fall away so he could experience something that was beautiful.
I couldn’t help but want more of Logan and Brooklyn’s relationship. They belonged together. I loved how they fell into each other so well. They made one another stronger and happier than they’d ever been. I hoped the whole time that they would stay together regardless of all the things that happened to them in their pasts. Their pasts definitely kept coming back to take a jab at them and make things difficult.
Wow! The ending! I am still in shock and left in AWE! I can’t believe how it ended. My heart is still hurting and I’m so frustrated that it ended the way it did. I may never get over it until I read the next part of the story.
I so hope that the next part of the book will bring me some closure as well as the characters in the book. I highly recommend this book if you love a beautiful love story with twists and ending that will leave you a bit crazy.
Brooklyn was sick of her run of bad luck. She was scorned by her ex-boyfriend who broke up with her on a whim and bitter about her lackluster job and douche of a boss. She didn’t expect a helpful stranger to stop her and gradually bring light into the dark abyss she’d placed herself in. They came from two different worlds but she couldn’t get the handsome, CEO, Logan Colton out of her mind.
Unsettled's storyline was a remix of a common theme. Average, working-class girl meets wealthy CEO. Their worlds collide, she’s doubtful she can exist within his world and he pursues her relentlessly but is overly-cautious about letting her in his psyche.
The few differences in dynamic were enough for me to enjoy the story. Here’s a few:
1. It was a refreshing interracial romance that only mentioned race, maybe, three or four times. The focus was strictly on the romance and actual romantic conflict. Brooklyn was super normal like most people are. There were no three snaps in a z-formation. No overt sass or bitchiness.
2. The author threw in a couple moments where Logan teetered on this line of being possessive but I didn’t really feel like he was. About 70-80% in he started becoming more alpha-male. Before that I thought he was sweet. Admittedly, I’m not obsessed with Logan. He’s not going on my list for favorite book boyfriends but he was okay.
3. I don’t really have a number three but a list of two seemed anticlimactic.
Should you read it? If you’re like me and you tire of reading about what’s considered the “default” in heroines, try this out. Unsettled was funny, sexy, and emotional and it kept me entertained. I definitely recommend it.
4.5 Stars!!! What a debut from S.C. Ellington. I was anxious to read this book, the cover looked intriguing and the story pulled me in. The writing was engaging and I often found myself smirking at the banter between the couple.
Brooklyn Caldwell is trying to pick the pieces up of her shattered heart after a devastating breakup 2 years ago. The walls she has built are high but could a chance encounter with Logan Colton be what she’s needed all along.
Logan Colton, is a super sexy, down to earth millionaire. He is intrigued by Brooklyn and has made it his mission to get to know her.
I LOVED Logan, no doubt about it hands down! Yes, he travels in different circles than Brooklyn but he did not once come off as a rich snob. I thought his feelings for her were genuine and that he took the time to listen to her and her feelings. They were a likeable couple and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.
But sometimes I felt like Brooklyn got in her own way. The resurfacing of the man who broke her heart didn’t seem to help matters any. I didn’t enjoy any of the interaction between Brooklyn and Daemon. I thought he was an arrogant ass and I am unlikely to change my opinion of him even as the trilogy continues.
Yes, trilogy, which had me knowing going in that this would probably not end all hearts and flowers. Cliffhangers are NOT my thing. I felt like the ending was too predictable though and it made me mad. Mad at Brooklyn for running….again.
I will patiently (or not so patiently) await the 2nd book in this series as I am hopefully that Logan and Brooklyn will one day get the HEA. So if you like a good story and don’t mind cliffhangers (oh heck even if you do)go grab this book!
Rating: 4.5 Unsettled presents readers with a moderately paced, intelligently expressed, and highly engaging romance. Both leading man Logan, and leading lady Brooklyn, may live among the ranks of the walking wounded, but they have not let their enshadowed pasts dim their promising futures. High praise goes out to author S.C.Ellington for her choice of a strong multiracial cast, as well as her very masterful dodge of the stereotypic faux pas that sometimes occur when multiracial relationships are written.
There is quite a lot of novel packed into the scant 165 pages comprising Unsettled. Page upon page of courage, resiliency, pain, loss, lightheartedness, and love. Author Ellington also proves herself a master at tackling character relatability. This is most brilliantly exemplified by leading man, Logan. The fact that he is a very rich and powerful man ceases to be an issue shortly after his interactions with Brooklyn begin. He simply becomes man to her woman, allowing room for reader attention to shift from issues of money and class to those involving the thrill of the chase.
The sensuality found in this read holds at a warm and intense medium heat, with reader focus being geared much more toward the romantic aspect of their coupling, rather than raw physicality.
Nods of recognition must also be given to a well written supporting cast; unobtrusively providing the plot driving drama, stellar character interaction, and emotional framework that are the making of a great story. The only thing standing in the way of a well deserved 5 Stars for this rapturous romance, is the rush at book's end. This is not a major detraction from the story as a whole however, and may be easily rectified in later continuations of the series.
CLIFFHANGER WARNING! Just about the time this book picks up momentum and you feel as though Logan and Brooklyn are moving toward something special, BOOM it ends. Not even with a very solid cliffhanger, which is the reason behind my 4 star rating. I'm not a fan of the weak miscommunication wrench being thrown into the middle of two people that really should be at a point to have an adult discussion, I think it's an easy out. Sort of like turning this into a 2 book story.
Brooklyn is dealing with a break up, 2 years old, but intense enough to keep her out of the game. She has moved clear across the country for a grunt job just to get away from the ex and then find herself the love interest of a millionaire CEO. The work dynamic/issue is also a little sketchy in this book, but I'm assuming that will all play out.
The ex comes to town and causes Brooklyn more heartache when she has a little hissy fit and divulges some of the depth of her heartache to him. It also leads her to a huge soul baring with Logan, the hot CEO. Logan finally shows off all the skeletons in his closet as well and you think these two are on the path to a really great relationship, but...see the first two words in my review.
I will read the next book for sure. I liked these characters. I liked Ellington's writing style for the most part, it's detailed and riddled with pop culture, which is a nice departure from most books. I am not as invested in these two as I could have been and am certainly not breathlessly awaiting the sequel, but I will pick it up.
um did this author stalk me and then write a book about me?! haha!! I read this book the day after I turned 25, the main character, Brooklyn, is about to turn 25! Also, I’m an administrative assistant, just like Brooklyn! Ok, that’s where the similarities stop..but I still got a kick out of it!
Brooklyn is your normal girl…working a job she doesn’t love, dreaming of doing something else, spending time with friends, trying to get over a broken heart. She left home after college to get away from Damon, the guy who broke her heart. Well, years later and she’s never let anyone else in. Until she meets Logan Colton. He pursues Brooklyn, despite when she shuts him down! Slowly she starts to let down her walls and it takes awhile but she realizes that she’s fallen for him and trusts him completely.
I really like Logan Colton. He is flawed, sexy and mysterious.I thought it was cool how he shows Brooklyn that he’s just a normal young guy who plays board games and hangs out in local bars…but also is smart enough to own his own company and make tons of money. Brooklyn is relatable and likable. I liked her up until the end…then I didn’t. She seemed so level headed until…you guessed it, the end. Also, cliffhanger alert.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for book 2. We will see.

I received an ARC of Unsettled in exchange for an honest review. The novel started out a wee bit slow for my personal taste but when it got going, WOW, it really got going. When we meet the main character of the story Brooklyn, she is still trying to get over a breakup that happened three years prior. Although her best friends know her relationship has ended with Damon Williams, they don't know the real reasons behind the breakup and Brooklyn is not telling them. She is determined to move on and stop obsessing over him, that's until her best friends announce that Damon is coming for a little visit. On top of all the drama at home and the impending arrival of her ex, Logan Colton steps in. Logan is a young, debonair 30 something who owns his own company and is not used to taking NO for an answer. He meets Brooklyn when they bump into one another on the street. Logan can not stop thinking of her. Just because Logan Colton has it all, looks, money and power doesn't make this a Cinderella story. There are NO fairy tale endings, no sweet romance. This is a story of REAL and RAW characters that anyone of us can probably relate to. It is a story of a women that is just trying to move on with her life but is not sure she can.
"Alex sang out in an impromptu rendition of Michelle Black's When I Do. Alex's unsavory crooning caused other patrons in the grill to eye us as if we were lepers. I did nothing but smile and chuckle in amazement at my dear friend. Alex never got embarrassed."
"By the time we’d rinsed off, areas of my body that had been asleep for years were suddenly wide awake and tingling.”
My Review:
I had not read this author’s work before so backtracked and read Unsettled as well as Surrounded to complete this review. Oh happy day, as I scored twice as hard! I am stunned to see these are Ms. Ellington’s first novels as they are both excellent reads, well written, and expertly crafted. I found the story to be moving as well as humorous, and to be far more than just entertaining. The characters were well developed and people I would want to know - well - most of them anyway. The first book was exceptional but the second was even better. The love story was touching, the family issues were relevant, the love scenes were sizzling, and the ending a perfect HEA – I am such a happy camper.
Okay I lied, that is most definitely not all, but seriously? S.C Ellington are you trying to break my heart?
Brooklyn's heart has been through the ringer with her Ex, Damon. With a self sabotaging history, B relents to exploring a new relationship with the ever charming Logan Colton. However, don't put Damon out of your mind yet. That man seems to believe he's worth a second shot. Does Brooklyn think so too?
The journey Brooklyn and Logan take is so powerful, and perfect, that I waited for the other shoe to drop. Without giving too much away, I will say S.C. Ellington didn't disappoint in that department. No Ma'am. For a first book I was blown away by Ellington. The writing was witty, and flowed effortlessly. The plot was grabbing in a way that kept me tuned in. I was unable to walk away until I finished. Seeing as this is a series, and I have already hinted at a cliffhanger, I will warn once more: BE PREPARED!
I received this ARC by the author for an honest review.
Wow, took me a little bit to get into this story but watch out it grabs you and takes a hold before you know it! The story revolves around Brooklyn who is an executive assistant and is trying to recover from a disaster break-up from 3 years ago. She meets the millionaire CEO, Logan who sweeps her off her feet pretty quickly. Neither one was looking for a relationship but was drawn to one another like a moth to a flame. They both have troubled past and demons in their closets but seem to get past all of them until the end of the story. Things happen pretty quickly and too soon the book ends with a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more. I hope the second book will be out because I'm craving more of these two. For a first time author, her writing is spot on and leaves you waiting for the next read!! Anytime you want me to do a review for one of your books, you don't need to ask I will read it and review it willingly!! Thanks for an awesome read!!
This is a great read and I can't wait to read the next book to see how everything plays out.
Brooklyn and Logan had a lot to deal with in their past that could have made this an impossible relationship. There were a lot of insecurities from both of them but Brooklyn had more because of things that happened in her past. That past effected her more than she could have imagined.
Logan also had his share of issues and one of those was not being open enough to anyone. Brooklyn needed that from him and he had a hard time opening up and dealing with things that closed him off from the world.
SC Ellington wrote a great book and I can't wait for everyone to read it. There is a cliffhanger at the end but it makes your mind come up with conclusions just to wait and see if you were correct. The story didn't jump right into love but eventually the characters made their way.
I hope my prediction will win out over what could happen
This is the first time reading a book by this author. I found it to be interesting with a few twist and turns.
Brooklyn Caldwell was in a dead end job and was still jaded about being in a relationship; after her boyfriend Damon ended the relationship after cheating on her. Years later she found it hard to trust a man. When she met Logan Colton, even though he seemed intrigued, she was reluctant to start a relationship with him. He was rich, being the CEO of his own company.
Logan persisted and eventually she relented. Damon decided he wanted her back especially after learning of the secret she kept from him. The relationship between her and Logan flourished until she attended a benefit in which she learned he was keeping secrets. The saga continues....
Here is my review of unsettled...I received a ARC for a honest review... this book is awesome..heads up it does end in one hellva cliff hanger..I need book 2 right now. this is a story of love, loss, and a little more love... Brooklyn is a 25 year old woman who moved from California to Washington DC to run away from her ex and all the memories he left her heartbroken with. she meets Logan. Logan is a very young rich CEO of his on company with his fair share of family problems.he reminds me of fifty without the threat of bodily harm . when Brooklyn meets Logan sparks fly and she starts to feel alive again but then her ex shows up wanting her back. will Brooklyn and Logan's love fall true or will it fall flat? will her ex get her back?
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unsettled is a great title that conveys the main character's feelings in this book. Hurt from a past love keeps her tied to him even when she wants nothing more than to let it go. Who hasn't been there? So many feelings readers can relate to in this book come out in the main character. We feel her pain while we're screaming at her to give the new guy a chance.
Don't think this is the run-of-the-mill romance story. This IS a cliffhanger ending but it is very well done, very well placed and doesn't make you want to throw your Kindle against the wall in frustration!
Great job, SCE! Waiting for Unsettled 2 now - get back to work!
This is an amazing read. A coming of age tale of letting go and moving on. Two very different souls come together and form a bound that seems unbreakable, but it is true to its name things can be to good to be true. I suggest you read it to find out what i am talking about. It does have a cliffhanger but it leaves you yearning for more. I cannot wait for the next book. S.C. Ellington is a phenomenal writer and makes you feel as if your seeing it as if your the character and through their eyes alone.
I absolutely loved Unsettled by S.C Ellington! This book was so easy to read, and I could not put this book down! The love between Logan and Brooklyn is very real and cute at the same time. I found myself reminiscing about the initial sparks of my first love. This book beautifully captures the roller coaster emotions of a new relationship while struggling to get over the impact and lasting impression of your first love. I can't wait to read the next book, and I highly recommend this book to anyone!
While I thought the beginning of the book started out a bit slow the story line picked up once Brooklyn decided to talk to Logan and give him a shot. I really liked Logan from the get go. He seems like a very genuine man who is looking for an honest down to earth woman. Not some game whore or money sucker. I am very mad a Brooklyn for her decision at the end of the book(don't want to give anything away
One of the things that I really enjoyed about Unsettled was the author's use of such descriptive and vivid details. It made me feel as if I was one of the characters in the story experiencing everything. I enjoyed Brooklyn and Logan's story and am intrigued as to what will happen in the next book. The cliffhanger left me anxiously biting my nails and rushing to find out when the next book will be released!
I'm really happy I read this book. I hate cliffhangers but it was a great story with well developed characters that were relatable. It was refreshing to not have the couple instantly fall in love with one another and to me that made the story feel more real. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I love that this book relates to actual things that happen in life. I loved the story line and the characters. This is a must read and I can't wait for the next one to come out. Brooklyn is a strong girl. This is a story of how someone can learn to love again after such a devastating life change. If you haven't got this book on your TBR list then you must go do it NOW.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a review and I must say I fell in love with this story.Brooklyn wants a happy relationship but shes too scared to fall in love again.Logan just wants her in every possible way.
