Karen Anna Vogel brings to the table a fresh new Amish series that readers will certainly love based from her own experiences as a friend to the Amish. We 'English' look at the Amish through rose-colored glasses. They seem so peaceful and content with a simple way of life. But we forget they are people like everyone else. Karen's series shows this through the hardships and heartbreaks they face and the faith they cling to or struggle with." Rita Gerlach, author of Surrender the Wind, Daughters of the Potomac Series
"Author Karen Vogel has approached the often misunderstood beliefs or the Amish with tact and tenderness, and I highly recommend this heart-stirring story." Kathi Macias award-winning author of 35 novels, including Deliver Me From Evil and Unexpected Christmas Hero.
"Karen writes with heart-touching insight and her characters are gripping. Highly recommended." Jennifer Hudson Taylor, author of Highland Blessings & Highland Sanctuary
"Two cultures knit together by one faith" Ginny and James Rowland have close-knit ties with many Amish families in the small-town of Smickburg, PA. But these ties are threatened to unravel... Ginny's photographer brother, Joseph, comes up from Pittsburgh to capture Amish farm scenes, but instead captures the heart of an Amish woman, Katie Byler. A shunned Amish man finds refuge in the Rowland's Baptist Church. The Bishop discovers his son is dating the Rowland's daughter. Will Granny Weaver's knitting circle, that Ginny and other Englishers attend, be able to bring harmony through their love and faith?
Karen Anna Vogel is a trusted English friend to Amish families in Western PA and Western NY. These friends inspired her to write the Amish Knitting Circle series. She owns Thrifty Christian Shopper, an online Christian bookstore, and is a volunteer advocate for Compassion International.
As much as people want to believe the Amish faith is the same as Christians' faith which is Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, it simply is not true.
This is a sweet book except for that fact. To make a book partially about a man saved by grace thinking it’s the right thing to do to become Amish for the love of a woman who will not marry a non-Amish, I consider irresponsible. The Amish faith is not a faith by grace alone. There are rules called the Ordnung. If these rules are not met an Amish person's soul is in eternal danger. This is not grace, this is Old Testament law added to what Christ did on the cross. Another term for this in the early church was called Judaizer.
On top of this, his niece (a Christian woman) is in love with an Amish man who was considering becoming Mennonite so they could marry. But after a trip to Italy, she comes back declaring she could become Amish for him.
Nope.
I’ve read a lot of Amish books where the characters finally realize what The Word teaches about Christ's sufficient work on the cross, and want to live a life of faith rather than law. But this has the characters turning from their Christian faith to live under the law.
I can’t accept this, no matter how it’s dressed up.
To be honest, the two stars I gave this were because the author's questions at the end were the best part. The book was just wrong and I'm disappointed.
The Amish live a somewhat different lifestyle from others. Joseph is not Amish, but the girl who he falls for is and there lies the problem. Katie is the girl he wants and so does others. She received several proposals from all good men, but she loved Joseph. The Amish do not look favorable on outsiders, people who are not Amish. The bishop as well as many other members of this church are very much against their attraction. You must read this story to see how it turns out and to learn more about the Amish way.
Knit Together ( Prequel to the Amish Knitting Circle series) by Karen Anna Vogel
I truly Loved the story! But I kept getting confused with who the characters were because of how similar some of their names are, so I wound up keeping track of who was who with a piece of paper and a pencil 😊
This story was filled with so much love and forgiveness. I could not stop reading until I got to the end of the book.i would recommend this book to everyone.
Very interesting book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that loves to read good clean books. . I would love to read more books by this author.
The story is beautifully written and I am excites to read another of the authors books. The list of references at the end makes it easy to further read about passages of interest.
Knit Together is a stand alone novel written by Karen Anna Vogel. Although this is a stand alone novel I would love to see another book or two written to follow some of the characters after their weddings and others to see who they end up with. I loved this book and the characters. The storyline is wonderful and had alot of twist that kept me reading on.
This book showed how people who really loved each other put the other person first but never before God. There were several storylines intertwined thru out this book and I found myself rooting for the underdogs. The author also showed what happens if you just call out for help.
I enjoyed this book immensely and highly recommend it to all those who love the Amish genre and romance. I have rated this book with five stars for a wonderful story. I will be ordering more books from this author so I can see what happens with my favorite character Granny Weaver.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. All opinions and statements expressed are strictly my own. Congratulations to Karen Anna Vogel on another wonderful book and a fantastic storyline.
